Background / History

Han Li escaped pursuing Ghost Spirit Sect cultivators through an ancient teleportation array, only to arrive in the Chaotic Star Sea and fall into Zhou Yi's formations. His cultivation had been reduced to the fourth or fifth Qi Refining layer after helping Nangong Wan, leaving him unable to resist Zhou Yi's perfected Foundation Establishment cultivation and Nascent Soul-level spiritual sense. 142

Zhou Yi demanded Han Li's Great Evolution Art and Puppet Art, then sought to use Han Li's small green bottle to cultivate Dragon Blood Grass. Han Li attempted to escape with concealed weapons, talisman treasures, and the Green Radiance Sword, but Zhou Yi destroyed them effortlessly. After Zhou Yi identified the bottle as an Innate Spirit Treasure and declined to seize it, Han Li agreed to cultivate Dragon Blood Grass instead. 142 143

On Chiming Island, Han Li was kept under layered surveillance: a restriction array around the medicine garden, Zhou Yi's spiritual sense, and a Snake Demon disguised as a bracelet around his wrist. Zhou Yi nevertheless supplied him with a spirit field, top-grade pills, pill recipes, demon cores, and an Elder Token. Han Li's resentment gradually diminished, though he remained wary of Zhou Yi's coercive control. 144 145

Over decades, Han Li used diluted green liquid from the Sky Controlling Bottle to produce repeated harvests of ten-thousand-year Dragon Blood Grass. He advanced from Foundation Establishment to Golden Core, cultivated the Great Evolution Art to its third level through Daoist scripture recitation, and increasingly consulted Zhou Yi on cultivation problems. 145
