Background and History

Li Yao awakens at Imperial Capital University after remembering a truck striking him in his original world. He has the memories of this world’s Li Yao: the sole direct-line son of a nation-protecting family, grandson of Martial Saint Li Fuhai and son of Martial Emperor Li Zhiyun. The original Li Yao had neglected cultivation for three years while pursuing Yang Xiaoran and supplying resources to her family 1 7.

The Prominent Family System grants him an initial 100,000 Background Value and lets him exchange points for techniques, abilities, weapons, and pills. It tells him he can return to his original world after meeting a Background Value requirement and reaching the highest cultivation realm. One year in his new world equals one day in his original world 3.

Personality

Li Yao replaces his predecessor’s submissiveness with sarcasm and open defiance. He readily invokes the Li Family’s standing, but also learns to use intelligence and preparation: after discovering Lin Yun’s planned ambush, he lets the Yang Family continue gathering resources while arranging reinforcements of his own 1 2 12.

He enjoys provoking tournament challengers for Background Value, at times pretending to be nervous or exhausted to draw them onto the platform. He also respects capable opponents: he praises Gong Zhan, admires Wang Lei’s self-reliance, and stabilizes Ye Xiao’s Spiritual Power after defeating him 16 17 18 21 30. Yang Mingyou’s death leaves him visibly shaken, and he initially refuses to kill Yang Xiaoran despite warnings that she may seek revenge 39.
