Yu Xuerou was born in the Imperial Capital. Her parents died when she was young, and her grandmother, a retired teacher, raised her 20.

She became close friends with Shangguan Yan in high school. After Yu awakened a Heaven-Grade Spirit Root, Shangguan Yun invited her to become a nominal guest elder of the Shangguan Family. Its cultivation resources supported her rapid rise to Ninth-Rank Martial Master 20 26.

Personality

Yu Xuerou is observant and competitive. She notices that Li Yao fights beyond his stated rank, repeatedly presses him about his strength, and tells him she intends to beat him 13 14 19. In the arena, she lets the injured Li Mengqi recover and use her strongest attack rather than exploiting her condition 25.

She is also proud: after Li Yao badly injures her, she insists she has not lost until she can no longer stand. Her second consecutive defeat leaves her visibly distressed by the crowd’s mockery 27 32.

• Match against Li Yao: Yu challenges Li Yao under instructions from Shangguan Yan. After their strongest techniques collide, she suffers internal injuries and surrenders 27 43.
• Ranking challenge: Provisionally placed third, Yu accepts Wang Lei’s challenge. His Heaven-Shattering Stone Fist defeats her, leaving her outside the final top three 28 31 32.
• Break with the Shangguan Family: Shangguan Yan blames Yu for failing to cripple Li Yao and tells her never to return 43.
