Background / History

Li Wenbin intervenes when Dean Liu Zhengguo blames Li Yao for striking two classmates without investigating what happened. After the dean leaves, Wenbin breaks down in relief: Li Yao has finally stopped pursuing Yang Xiaoran at his own expense. Li Yao then asks him to account for everything he gave her over the preceding three years 2.

As Li Yao enters Imperial Capital University’s Martial Arts Tournament, Wenbin warns him about the risks and investigates threats involving the Yang, Lin, and Shangguan families. He arranges three Martial King-level experts when Li Yao learns of Lin Yun’s planned ambush. He also investigates Yu Xuerou and discovers that Shangguan Family resources helped fund her rapid cultivation 8 12 19 26.

Wenbin accompanies Li Yao to confront the Yang Family. Pinned down by Lin Yun’s Martial Venerable escorts, he pleads for them to punish him instead of Li Yao; the Li Family’s Martial Kings then intervene. When Yang Mingyou dies, Wenbin checks his pulse and follows the shaken Li Yao outside to comfort him. After the subsequent confrontation at the Lin estate, Li Yao gives Wenbin 50,000 Spirit Stones for cultivation and another 30,000 to distribute among the surveillance team 37 39 42.

Later, Wenbin finds evidence of a Snake Demon near Heyu Village and travels there with Li Yao. Learning that a flying centipede may be at the Demon Venerable Realm, he offers to investigate the mountains in Li Yao’s place. He relents only after Li Yao demonstrates Spiritual Power Transformation, and remains behind to watch Yan Ling 47 49.
