Background / History

Dai Mubai is the Star Luo Empire’s third prince. Betrothed to Zhu Zhuqing since childhood, he was placed in a succession contest against his elder brother Dai Weisi and Dai Weisi’s partner, Zhu Zhuyun. Defeat could mean the loss of his cultivation and lifelong imprisonment—or death. Dai fled to Heaven Dou because of the age and power gap between the rival pairs; Zhu Zhuqing later followed him to Suotuo City 158.

After reaching Shrek Academy, Dai spent a period indulging himself. He later acknowledged that Zhu Zhuqing’s arrival and his teammates’ insistence on training helped keep him from accepting defeat 158. At Shrek, he volunteered to spar with the newly arrived Yuan Yu despite knowing he was outmatched, then accepted a quick loss without resentment 18.

Dai and Zhu Zhuqing eventually faced their older siblings in the tournament. Their Hell White Tiger defeated Dai Weisi and Zhu Zhuyun’s stronger fusion, giving Shrek the match. Dai treated the win as the beginning, rather than the end, of their succession struggle 159 160. Five years later, he and Zhu Zhuqing had established themselves in Star Luo and defeated three challenges from Dai Weisi’s faction 179.

Dai is tall and blond, with differently colored eyes and an expression described as both lazy and sharp 18.

• Hell White Tiger — Dai and Zhu Zhuqing combine their Martial Souls into a giant tiger. Their close coordination lets them overcome Dai Weisi and Zhu Zhuyun’s larger, stronger fusion despite a Soul Power disadvantage 159 160.

• Singular Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum — an immortal herb given to Dai by Tang San. It strengthens his body and foundation; its lingering medicinal power helps him withstand his demanding fourth Spirit Ring 68 97.

• Zhu Zhuqing — childhood betrothed and partner in the Star Luo succession contest. They train and fight together, including through their Hell White Tiger fusion; five years after the tournament, they remain together in Star Luo 158 160 179.
• Dai Weisi — elder brother and rival for the throne. Dai defeats him in the tournament but says their larger contest remains to be settled 158 160.
