The 107th Day of Being Overheard
Ever since the hospital had suspended her, Song Mei had stopped working. She spent every day at home eating and sleeping, and when she ran out of money, she asked Zhao's Father and Zhao's Mother for more.
It wasn't that they had no complaints. But whenever they said no, Song Mei threw a tantrum, smashed cups, and pounded the bed. She also threatened to tell everyone that Zhao Donglai couldn't perform. With no way to stop her, they were completely at her mercy.

Song Mei was watching television at home as usual, waiting for Zhao's Mother to get off work and make dinner.
When she heard footsteps, she didn't even turn her head. Instead, she complained, "Why are you home so late? I'm starving!"
But it wasn't Zhao's Mother who answered. It was Zhao Donglai, his voice tight with anger. "Song Mei, get the hell out!"
Song Mei flinched at first. Once she registered what he'd said, she sprang off the sofa and pointed a finger at his nose. "Who are you telling to get out? Zhao Donglai, have you no conscience? I'm your wife!"
"My wife? I don't have a wife who cheats on me. Get out! Get out!"
Zhao Donglai snatched the fruit plate off the table and slammed it onto the floor. His face was flushed, his jaw clenched, and veins bulged in his neck.
Panic flashed across Song Mei's face, but she forced herself to argue. "Bullshit! You're slandering me! Well, Zhao Donglai, I never held it against you that you can't perform, and now you're accusing me of cheating?"
When Zhao's Father
