Charlotte's office lay deep within the War Wizard Academy. In theory, the legendary archmage Vangerdahast was still Cormyr's chief royal wizard, so his office was naturally the finest in the entire academy. However, the old wizard rarely appeared anymore, and the young lady had all but taken it over.
Led by Miss Liv, Aaron and Alusair crossed the entrance hall. In sheer size alone, the academy's entrance hall was larger than Salian's entire residence, including its two small gardens in the front and back. Two divine statues stood on opposite sides of the hall: one of Mystra, the Goddess of Magic, and one of Azuth, the God of Wizards.
As the embodiment of magic and the Weave in the Realms, Mystra naturally received the worship of every War Wizard. However, the image Aaron and Alusair saw was still that of the Second Goddess of Magic. Evidently, the War Wizards had not yet found time to update it.
The current, third Goddess of Magic, Midnight, apparently did not particularly care whether the statues depicted her. Whatever form people used to worship her, she would answer. Still, many wizards had their complaints about Midnight. During the Time of Troubles, she had adventured near Cormyr alongside Cyric, a Warrior named Kelemvor, and a Cleric named Aydin. Many people had seen them and interacted with them.
Some had even witnessed their falling-out and attempts to kill one another.
Midnight's ascension had also left the wizards somewhat at a loss. Unlike the Second Goddess of Magic, Midnight was neutral good, whereas the wizards had grown accustomed to her predecessor's lawful neutral ways. Even Azuth, the God of Wizards, had objections to this Goddess of Magic personally appointed by the Overgod.
Beyond the entrance hall lay the Great Hall, a wondrous, magnificent place.
