History

As Raikage, A relied on Samui and Mabui as trusted advisers. Samui urged him to enter the Chunin Exams and pursue better relations with Konoha, but a visit there left him resentful of the gap between the two villages 58 88 120.

A confronted Naruto Uzumaki during the exams and was shaken by the young ninja's power as their fight continued 120 121 122. Naruto later cut off one of A's arms. After Naruto's attack devastated Kumogakure, villagers blamed A for provoking the disaster, and Kumogakure declared him a wanted missing-nin under Naruto's pressure 142 189 193.

A subsequently appeared alongside Killer B while Might Guy's group was following them. An investigation later identified A and Killer B as the attackers targeting Konoha 189 190 194.

Personality

A is quick to anger and openly contemptuous of Konoha, though he has restrained himself when acting on an impulse would compromise his position as Raikage 88 89 97. He is also unwilling to stand aside when he decides to intervene, even without others' support 120.
