Background / History

Naruto is the son of Fourth Hokage Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki. Despite his father’s sacrifice for Konoha, Naruto grows up shunned as the Nine-Tails’ jinchūriki and receives only an ordinary orphan’s allowance. He blames Hiruzen Sarutobi and Shimura Danzō for his isolation and lack of an inheritance 1 17.

While still at the Ninja Academy, Naruto’s memories of a past life awaken: he recalls another version of the shinobi world’s story and discovers that writing diary entries earns him rewards. He resolves to conceal his knowledge and build enough power to survive the dangers he remembers. Unknown to him, women across the shinobi world can read copies of his diary, changing how they treat him and, increasingly, the events he expects 1 2 8 12.

Appearance

Naruto is a blond boy who is twelve around the time he meets Kurenai. In Kurama Mode, a golden chakra cloak surrounds him 18 27 37.

Personality

Naruto is cautious about exposing his knowledge and power, but enjoys showing off when he thinks he has the advantage. He plays along with Mizuki’s scroll-theft plot, hides his full strength during Kakashi’s bell test, and later gives Kakashi and Hiruzen a fabricated account of how he gained Kurama’s cooperation 10 14 39 47.

His diary is more boastful and flirtatious than his public behavior. He also shows a protective side: he feeds Sasuke despite Kakashi’s prohibition, saves both teammates from Zabuza, and argues that comrades matter more than rules. In the Land of Waves, his pursuit of Gato’s wealth reveals a harsher side when he uses a Binding Talisman to compel Gato’s obedience 8 15 16 35 36 44.

Writing entries grants Naruto abilities and techniques. He does not know that other people can read copies of those entries or receive rewards when he mentions them repeatedly 1 2 5 12.

Sensory perception

The Perfect Mind’s Eye of the Kagura lets Naruto perceive living and nonliving things clearly within ten kilometers. He uses it to detect Yugao’s surveillance and to remain composed in Zabuza’s Hidden Mist 13 21 36.

Ninjutsu and combat

Naruto uses shadow clones to complete D-rank missions without attending in person. He also fights with the Rasengan, elemental ninjutsu and a kunai coated in Wind Release chakra 20 23 37.
