In Konoha: Three Choices at the Start

"With that Cursed Seal on them, the lives of Root's members rested on Danzo's whim!"

"And they couldn't reveal anything about Root. If they tried, the Cursed Seal on their tongues would surge into their brains. If they were lucky, they'd be left witless!"

"If they were unlucky, they'd die on the spot!"

"Brat! Nonsense! I won't stoop to arguing with you over your slander!"

Danzo snorted, waved a hand, and turned to leave.

Whoosh!

Liuyun flashed in front of Danzo with a smile.

"Where are you going, Lord Danzo?"

"Uchiha Liuyun! Do you have proof?"

Hiruzen Sarutobi's voice was grim. He no longer addressed Liuyun by his given name; he was clearly furious.

Liuyun was trying to drive Danzo into a corner with no way out!

"Of course I do! Dark Moon Momonosuke, you're up!"

"Tell everyone why you passed our intelligence to the Sand Ninja!"

Momonosuke had no intention of answering, but his eyes went hazy. "Those were my orders," he murmured.

"Stick out your tongue. Let everyone see!"

Momonosuke obeyed. A black Cursed Seal was branded on his tongue.

"Everyone, this is the Cursed Tongue Eradication Seal. If you don't believe me, find any Root Ninja and check whether they have the same seal."

"I don't need to tell you who gave them their orders, do I?"

"Danzo! So you were behind all of this!"

The Konoha Ninja erupted in anger. Every last one of them!

They glared at Danzo with open hatred. If Hiruzen Sarutobi hadn't been there, some might have attacked him outright.

Utatane Koharu and Mitokado Homura quietly put some distance between themselves and Danzo, making it clear they had nothing to do with him.

After all, they couldn't afford to turn the whole village against themselves. They still had to live in Konoha!
