Background

Sakura is Tokiomi Tohsaka's younger daughter and Rin Tohsaka's sister. Because the Tohsaka family possessed only one Magic Crest, she was sent to the Matou family to become its heir. 4

At the Matou residence, Sakura was implanted with Crest Worms and reduced to a weak, vacant state. Li Mo confronted Zouken Matou, forced the extraction of the worms, destroyed the Matou family, and brought Sakura away with Rin. 67 68 69

Sakura could not accept returning home after her rescue, believing that her time with the Matous had made her irredeemably tainted. Li Mo took her to Ryougi Shiki, who severed the concept of Sakura's past; Li Mo then used the Second Magic and Star Essence to stabilize her existence and return her body and mind to the period before she was sent to the Matou family. 70 71

This Sakura was brought from a parallel world, creating concerns about a Temporal Paradox. Kishua concluded that her contact with Star Essence or another miraculous material may have prevented such a paradox. 93 94

Despite her youthful appearance, Sakura understands far more than others initially realize. She overheard enough conversations at the Department of Lore to learn about the Holy Grail War, the Matou family, and her own former suffering. She chooses to remain beside Li Mo and quietly resolves to support him. 201

Li Mo's primary goal during the Holy Grail War is to save Sakura rather than pursue the Grail. He coerces Zouken into removing her Crest Worms, annihilates the Matou household, and takes Sakura from the family that abused her. 65 67 68 69

Severing the Past

Unable to accept her rescue or believe she can return home, Sakura is taken to Ryougi Shiki. Her past is severed, and Li Mo reverses her to childhood through the Second Magic, creating the restored “Young Sakura.” 70 71

Life at the Department of Lore

Sakura becomes part of Brishisan's household at the Clock Tower. She remains close to Li Mo, grows accustomed to Brishisan and Touko, and eventually acknowledges Rin as her sister, though she continues to live in the Department of Lore rather than with Rin. 79 93 153

Concert-Hall Abduction

Sakura vanishes from a concert hall while Brishisan is escorting her, leaving behind only unfinished ice cream. Li Mo traces the incident to Tohsaka Aoi and the Kaleidoscope Ruby, then travels to Japan to retrieve Sakura. 191 196
