Forms of Sword Intent

• Erosion — Dongze’s first Intent produces exceptionally destructive strikes. At high proficiency, it can leave his weapon and attack independently; he later uses a strand of it to keep Enel under control 21 27 33 34.
• Non-Contention — A defensive Intent awakened through Hidden Light, Sitting in Forgetfulness. It consumes little energy while defending and helps Dongze evade an attack from Aokiji 27 40.
• Thunderclap — Awakens when Dongze survives Enel’s increasingly powerful lightning attacks 37.
• Cold River / Shuihan — Generates extreme cold. It freezes Aokiji despite his elemental transformation and helps Dongze escape Ice Age 41 42.
• Vertical and Horizontal — The Intents associated with Hundred-Pace Flying Sword and Crossing the Eight Directions. Dongze counts them separately among his six forms 41 48.

Effects and Limits

• Against Logia users — Sword Intent can strike a user who has transformed into an element. Dongze theorizes that it disrupts the rules governing that transformation 24 40.
• Mental cost — Using Sword Intent drains Dongze’s mind. Early on, he fears being left helpless after only a few attacks; five Intent-infused strikes against Aokiji bring him to his limit 22 29 42.
• Meditation — Basic Meditation strengthens Dongze’s mind and also boosts Sword Intent. Its completion substantially increases the number of attacks he believes he can sustain 24 45.
• Against Conqueror’s Haki — Rayleigh’s Haki-coated Divine Departure holds off Dongze’s Intent-bearing flying swords. Dongze recognizes that sufficiently strong opponents can defeat swords from his case one at a time 50.

Associated Weapons

• Forgotten Dust — Dongze’s double-edged sword can carry Sword Intent, but repeated use of Erosion Sword Intent begins to strain it 28 41.
• Long River — A black-and-red flying sword capable of carrying Erosion Sword Intent 35.
• Peerless Sword Case — Holds Long River and Thunderclap by the time Dongze checks its storage panel; he intends to build an arsenal of swords bearing different Intents 30 39.
• Gold longswords — Dongze prepares five essentially disposable swords because ordinary weapons may not withstand powerful Sword Intent 41.
