Background / History

Su Yao initially handles day-to-day matters for Heavenly Apex Class but leaves its unruly students largely to their own hierarchy. She escorts the newly admitted Ning Chengyi to class and asks Ye Heng to quiet the students before introducing him 13.

After Ning nearly kills a classmate, Su Yao recommends revoking his admission under academy rules. The education committee instead assigns her to train him personally for a month. When Ye Heng dismisses her authority, she restrains him with Lotus Silk and orders the class to obey 14.

Su Yao’s program combines weighted running without Soul Power, medicinal baths, coordination and reflex drills, and weekly challenges against Heavenly Apex Class. She later adds sparring against herself while suppressing her strength. Ning’s endurance impresses her, and her decision to keep his Soul Power restrained until after a long run helps him break through during a medicinal bath 15 16 17 19.

She supervises Ning’s victories over classmates and supports him during the Heavenly Apex Class’s match against the Imperial Fighting Team. Before his later wilderness training, she packs his supplies and repeatedly warns him to be careful; the education committee rejects her request to accompany him 18 29 31 33 35.

She adjusts Ning’s workload after seeing his endurance, designs drills that make him rely on physical senses rather than Soul Power, and takes satisfaction in his progress.
