"Harry? Shouldn't he be at the Castle?" Professor Flitwick froze.
"Yes, Filius, but Mr. Potter clearly hasn't stayed safely inside the Castle." Snape strode into the corner and yanked the hood off Harry's head. "Potter... I suppose you're trying to give that damned Black an opportunity to take your miserable little life?"
Everyone was stunned, sobering up considerably. Almost every pair of eyes fixed on Harry.
Fudge, too, was suddenly much more sober. "Harry? How can you be here? This is very dangerous."
Professor McGonagall's expression darkened. "Mr. Potter?"
Then she looked at the Weasley Brothers sitting at Harry's table, already forming a suspicion.
But Harry stared at Lupin and asked urgently, "What happened next? Who was the Secret Keeper? It was Black, wasn't it?"
"Stop asking about this and go back to Hogwarts." Snape seized Harry by the collar, his voice icy. "There's nothing worth asking about a man like your father."
"Shut up! I want to know about my father!" Harry's blood was already boiling. He had only known that Black wanted to kill him, not that there had been a Secret Keeper involved. Lupin had never mentioned it either. Now he had to know, whether Snape tried to stop him or not.
Snape's face darkened. "Potter!"
Seeing that Harry was still staring at him, Lupin nodded bitterly.
"That's enough, Mr. Potter. Back to the Castle, now." Professor McGonagall rose as well, urging Harry to leave.
She also said to Fudge, "You know, Cornelius, if you're having dinner with the headmaster, you'd best return to the Castle now."
Surrounded by several professors, Harry was escorted outside. As she left, Professor McGonagall glanced back at the Weasley twins. "Mr. Weasley, I expect a reasonable explanation from both of you before tonight. Otherwise—"
The threat was unmistakable, and both their
