Background / History

Tang Hao was once the Clear Sky Sect’s celebrated prodigy, described as its greatest genius in a century and the continent’s youngest Titled Douluo. By his appearance at Shrek Academy, his face is considerably more weathered than Flender remembers from over a decade earlier 4 13.

His wife, Ah Yin, was the Blue Silver Emperor in human form and Tang San’s mother. His Hundred Thousand Year ninth Soul Ring is identified as the ring she gave him 29 53.

When Qian Xunji pursued Tang Hao and his wife for a Hundred Thousand Year Soul Ring, Tang Hao’s counterattack left the pope gravely wounded. Bibi Dong subsequently killed Qian Xunji and took the papal throne, while the wider world attributed his death to Tang Hao. Spirit Hall continued searching for Tang Hao for more than a decade 45.

Tang Hao later lived as a blacksmith in Holy Soul Village. He had also been expelled from the Clear Sky Sect before the events surrounding his flight to Slaughter City 29 56.

Appearance

  • Build: Tall and burly, with a heavily muscled bronze torso covered in scars 7 8.
  • Hair and eyes: Unkempt hair partly covers his forehead and eyes; his gaze is initially cold, sharp, and intimidating 4.
  • Clothing: Wears a tattered cloak and later a worn gray robe 7 34.
  • After Cao Kun’s attack: Appears pale, stooped, and weakened, with a heavily bandaged chest and unstable aura. He is described as missing an arm when reunited with Tang San 32 34 37.
  • As an Evil Soul Master: Surrounded by pitch-black Asura malice, with red eyes and an intensified killing aura 99.

Personality

Tang Hao is domineering and fiercely proud of both his title and the Clear Sky Hammer. He refuses to hear Zhao Wuji’s explanation for Tang San’s assessment injury and treats Cao Kun’s criticism as a personal humiliation. Even when nearly dead, an insult to his Martial Soul provokes another desperate attack 3 6 11.

His attachment to Tang San overrides his concern for himself. He tends to his blinded son, shields him during Spirit Hall’s ambush, and ultimately redirects an almost uncontrollable attack rather than let it strike him. Nevertheless, wounded pride repeatedly leads Tang Hao to escalate fights long after his chances of victory have disappeared 13 50 54.

Tang Hao can restrain himself when survival demands it. After recognizing that another confrontation with Cao Kun would be suicidal, he recruits Yu Xiaogang to extract Tang San secretly. He also manipulates Yu’s understanding of the conflict by omitting his own aggression from his account 34 35.

His transformation into an Asura Evil Soul Master marks a departure from his former restraints. He turns his hostility toward Spirit Hall into indiscriminate slaughter, destroying three branches and causing more than ten thousand deaths 99.

Abilities & Skills

Clear Sky Hammer

  • An enormous black Tool Martial Soul with a heavy, domineering aura; its manifested form bears cloud-and-thunder patterns 8 50.
  • Tang Hao channels its principle of overwhelming power through straightforward hammer strikes rather than relying exclusively on elaborate Soul Skills 51.
  • He can incorporate its force and will into bare-handed attacks, producing a punch capable of gravely injuring Zhao Wuji 5.
  • Its Martial Soul Avatar is vulnerable to Cao Kun’s Chaos Bell, which suppresses, dismantles, and absorbs its energy 9 10.

Soul Power Pressure

  • His Super Douluo pressure overwhelms Zhao Wuji despite the latter’s Level 88 cultivation 5.
  • The pressure of his Hundred Thousand Year Soul Ring forces Flender to one knee, injures him, and shatters his Martial Soul phantom 5.
  • Cao Kun resists this intimidation and disrupts the Soul Power concentrated in Tang Hao’s punch 5 6.

Seventh Soul Skill — Clear Sky True Body

  • Enlarges the Clear Sky Hammer into a Martial Soul Avatar more than a hundred meters long 8.
  • Enables enormous crushing attacks whose pressure tears up the ground and distorts surrounding space 8.
  • Can shelter Tang Hao and Tang San beneath a colossal hammer phantom 52.
  • Destruction of the Avatar causes severe backlash and disorder within Tang Hao’s Soul Power 10.

Eighth Soul Skill — Thousand-Jun Barrier

  • Covers his arms in a dense layer of dark-gold defensive light 7.
  • Strong enough to withstand a Soul Douluo’s full-force strike, though Tang Hao cannot fully deploy it before Cao Kun’s punch lands 7.
  • Cao Kun shatters the barrier and breaks his arms with the same blow 7.

Slaughter Domain

  • Also called the Slaughter Barrier; transforms the battlefield into a blood-red domain that strengthens Tang Hao and weakens his opponent 9.
  • Applies a mental assault that fails to affect Cao Kun 9.
  • Is overwhelmed during Cao Kun’s defeat of the Clear Sky Hammer Avatar 11.

Great Sumeru Hammer — Ring Detonation

  • A forbidden Clear Sky Sect technique that detonates Soul Rings to grant temporary power beyond the user’s normal limits 14.
  • Can enable attacks against higher-level enemies, but risks ring destruction, loss of ring age, cultivation regression, foundation damage, or Martial Soul collapse 14.
  • Powers Sky-Piercing Strike, a vast pillar of destruction that Cao Kun stops with one finger and the command “Stasis” 14.
  • Tang Hao later annihilates his ninth ring’s essence in a more destructive blast, badly injuring five Spirit Hall Titled Douluo 53.
  • His subsequent detonation of all remaining rings leaves him near death; forcibly redirecting the attack to spare Tang San inflicts further catastrophic backlash 54.

Asura Empowerment

  • Taking in Asura malice unlocks a rapid rise from Level 95 to the peak of Level 97 and multiplies his combat strength 99.
  • Allows him to kill a Level 94 Power Attack System Titled Douluo in two strikes 99.
  • At Level 97, he holds his own against seven Spirit Hall Super Douluo, but is grievously wounded when Level 98 Bibi Dong intervenes 107.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Defeat at Shrek Academy

Tang Hao summons Zhao Wuji to a nearby forest to retaliate for Tang San’s assessment injury. After overpowering Zhao and Flender through pressure, he attempts a vicious bare-handed strike. Cao Kun intervenes, disrupts the punch, and sends him back seven steps 3 4 5 6.

The confrontation escalates through Thousand-Jun Barrier, Clear Sky True Body, and the Slaughter Domain. Cao Kun breaks Tang Hao’s arms, destroys his Martial Soul Avatar, and suppresses his attempted self-destruction with “Worship Me!” Cao Kun afterward states that he used only thirty percent of his strength and treated the fight as a test of his skills 7 8 9 10 12.

Tang Hao refuses an offer to leave peacefully and resorts to Ring Detonation. When Cao Kun freezes Sky-Piercing Strike with “Stasis,” he explodes a hammer phantom as a distraction and flees 13 14.

Secretly Removing Tang San

While recovering in a hidden room in Suotuo City, Tang Hao learns of Tang San’s blindness and decides he cannot safely approach Shrek himself. He secretly summons Yu Xiaogang, blames Cao Kun for their injuries, and recruits him to bring Tang San out of the academy 32 34 35.

Father and son reunite in an abandoned warehouse after six years apart. Tang Hao takes Tang San away and arranges a false explanation for the academy. The pair travel north, repeatedly changing routes and passing through Soul Beast territory to obscure their trail 37 43.

Spirit Hall’s Ambush

Tang Hao hopes Slaughter City may provide refuge, training, and a possible remedy for Tang San’s unusual eye injury. Cao Kun instead arranges for Spirit Hall to receive accurate intelligence about their route, prompting Bibi Dong to organize a hunt 44 45 50.

Yue Guan and Gui Mei intercept them near a blood-red river outside Slaughter City. Tang Hao’s attempt to escape ends when four more Titled Douluo, including Bibi Dong, block his route. Bibi Dong captures Tang San while the other five attack and restrain his father 50 51 52.

Tang Hao answers with increasingly destructive Ring Detonations. When Bibi Dong throws Tang San into his final attack’s path, he redirects it at devastating cost to himself. An unidentified Evil Soul Master then seizes both of them and escapes into Slaughter City, where their apparent rescue becomes a threat of exploitation 53 54 55 56.

Asura Cult Transformation

Tang Hao’s whereabouts remain unknown even after Tang San is confirmed to have joined the Evil Soul Masters. He later reappears as an Asura Evil Soul Master at the peak of Level 97, killing a Spirit Hall Titled Douluo and destroying three branches 93 99.

The celestial screen publicly identifies him as the Asura Cult Master and reveals the cult’s subordination to the Clear Sky Sect. Its reward heals his and Tang Chen’s injuries. During Spirit Hall’s subsequent assault, Tang Hao withstands seven Super Douluo but escapes with fresh grave wounds after Bibi Dong intervenes; most of the cult’s experts are destroyed 107.

Disputed Claims

  • Ah Yin’s death: Cao Kun tells Xiao Wu that Tang Hao deceived and personally killed his wife for her Soul Ring. This is presented as a coercive allegation, not an independently established account; another passage identifies the ring as one Ah Yin gave Tang Hao 40 53.
  • Xiao Wu’s mother: The chapter summary records Xiao Wu recalling Cao Kun’s accusation that Tang Hao hunted her mother. The supplied context does not independently establish this claim 43.
  • The Shrek confrontation: Tang Hao’s account to Yu Xiaogang omits his unreasonable demands and attempted lethal attack, shifting blame toward Cao Kun despite Tang Hao having initiated the confrontation 3 5 34.
  • Qian Xunji’s death: Tang Hao receives public blame, but Bibi Dong’s recollection establishes that she killed Qian Xunji after he returned gravely wounded from fighting Tang Hao 45.
