Three years before her introduction, Cao Kun defeated Dugu Bo at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, spared him, and cured the poisonous Martial Soul backlash afflicting both grandfather and granddaughter 2.

At Dugu Bo’s request, she became Cao Kun’s handmaiden and a Mount Buzhou disciple. She spent the following three years cultivating beside him at Shrek Academy, receiving Immortal Herbs, meridian refinement, body-tempering methods, and guidance toward Martial Soul evolution 2.
