Ji Changfeng succeeded Daoxuan as Qingyun Sect Leader, defeated Yun Yilan, and defended Xiaobai while beginning reforms to the sect. Three months later, news of the Heavenly Emperor's Treasury drew Ji Changfeng toward the Western Death Swamp, where he planned to confront the Four Major Demonic Sects.

• Xiaobai joined Qingyun Sect as a Tongtian Peak elder, and Ji Changfeng introduced her to Dazhu Peak before making peace with her over his food prank.
• Ji Changfeng comforted Xiaobai, visited Jin Ping'er and Lu Xueqi, and promised to confront Incense Valley after becoming Sect Leader.
• Ji Changfeng received the Seven Star Sword from Daoxuan and became Qingyun Sect Leader at the Succession Ceremony.

After returning to Qingyun Sect and entering seclusion, he left Jin Ping'er and Lu Xueqi to face an alliance of demonic factions seeking Jin Ping'er's inheritance.

• Ji Changfeng assembled the Qingyun Sect expedition, gave Jin Ping'er the Red Brazier Immortal Sword, and met Zhou Yixian and Zhou Xiaohuan, who named his unusual fate the Law Creation Fate.
• Ji Changfeng and Lu Xueqi joined the expedition at Death Swamp, where Ghost King Sect forces attacked the group and Ji Changfeng killed White Tiger and Black Tortoise while Qinglong escaped wounded.
• Ji Changfeng killed the Black Water Mysterious Serpent as the Heavenly Emperor's Treasury opened, then captured the Yellow Bird while Lu Xueqi and Jin Ping'er fought the demonic factions.

Ji Changfeng led Qingyun Sect in destroying the Ten Thousand Poisons Sect and killing Yun Yilan, then helped install Yan Hong as Incense Valley’s new leader. As he prepared to marry Lu Xueqi, the Beast God awakened and a Beast Tide drove the Southern Border toward evacuation.

• Jin Ping'er killed Elder Bibo and two fleeing Ten Thousand Poisons Sect elders with the Sword Intent in the Red Brazier Immortal Sword, and Ji Changfeng crushed Shangguan Ce after Lu Xueqi fought him.
• Ji Changfeng revealed his Nascent Soul power, announced the Seven-Day Demon Purge, and led Qingyun Sect to Viper Valley, where he destroyed the Ten Thousand Poisons Sect and Lu Xueqi killed Poison God.

Ji Changfeng married Lu Xueqi, then defeated the Beast God and revealed his plan for them to ascend together. Afterward, he arranged the Southern Border campaign, faced complications with You Ji and Lu Xueqi, and helped Linglong emerge from the Profound Fire Mirror.
