Everyone knew that Second Hokage Tobirama Senju had wielded Water Release better than any Mizukage. With Tobirama Senju's teachings to draw on, Nawaki might truly reach Kisame Hoshigaki's level if he could get his hands on Samehada.
At the thought, Uchiha Yi's eyes lit up. He could take or leave the other six Ninja Blades, but Samehada was different. He wanted it for Nawaki.
Both Tsunade and Mito Uzumaki had taken such good care of him that Uchiha Yi did not know how to repay them.
Doing his best to keep Nawaki alive was his duty as a friend. Now that Nawaki followed him and served under him, keeping Nawaki safe was his responsibility as well.
Nawaki considered him a friend and trusted him. He could not let Nawaki or the others down.
If he had found a weapon that suited Nawaki, there was nothing wrong with giving Samehada to him.
Kirigakure might try to reclaim Samehada through negotiations, but Uchiha Yi saw no reason to give in. If Samehada truly accepted Nawaki, and Hiruzen Sarutobi demanded its return and sent it back anyway, he would lose the loyalty of his own people.
Besides, if not for the threat posed by Madara Uchiha, Uchiha Yi had no need to take a mere village like Kirigakure seriously.

"Uchiha Yi, who defeated Hanzō, and a young lady of the Hyuga Main Family. The Mizukage will reward us handsomely if we keep them here." The man carrying Kubikiribōchō on his shoulder surveyed Uchiha Yi's group with a vicious grin.
