Chidori Complete

Chirrrr! Lightning flashed in Uchiha Yi's hand. The violent Lightning Release Chakra crackled like thousands of birds crying out at once.

Uchiha Yi looked at the lightning in his hand, a faint smile on his lips. It had taken him three months under Tsunade and Mito Uzumaki's guidance to develop Chidori.

"Is it finished?" Tsunade folded her arms and studied the lightning in Uchiha Yi's hand. Uchiha Mikoto, Kushina Uzumaki, and Nawaki looked curious too.

They had watched Uchiha Yi propose the theory, pore over the Senju Clan's extensive records on Lightning Release training, and finally complete the jutsu with Tsunade and Mito Uzumaki's guidance.

"More or less." Uchiha Yi nodded. Then he burst forward at a speed far beyond what a Chunin could achieve and easily pierced a dummy in the distance.

Only after he stopped did Uchiha Yi speak. "As far as I'm concerned, the jutsu is complete. But it would be difficult to teach it widely.

"To attack with it, you have to rush at your opponent. At that speed, you might not see the enemy clearly enough to avoid a counterattack. It needs the Sharingan to reach its full potential.

"But very few in the Uchiha Clan have an affinity for lightning. Most have only an affinity for fire.

"They could develop a lightning affinity later, but it would never match an innate one. They'd be better off focusing on fire."

"At least you succeeded, right? If you used that jutsu on me, I'd probably die on the spot." Nawaki glanced at the ruined dummy and swallowed. "It's got to be as powerful as a B-rank jutsu, hasn't it?"

"No. It's an A-rank jutsu," Mito Uzumaki declared. She looked at Uchiha Yi with open admiration. "The best jutsu is the one that suits you.

"And the same jutsu can have very different effects in different hands.

"Take your Uchiha Clan's Fire Style: Majestic Destroyer Flame. In the hands of most Uchiha, it's just a Fire Release jutsu somewhat stronger than the Great Fireball. But in Madara Uchiha's hands, it was devastating. It could take dozens of ninjas skilled in Water Release working together to stop it.

"Your jutsu pushes Lightning Release Chakra Nature Transformation almost to its limit, and it has a measure of shape transformation too. Keep developing it. I think it has tremendous potential. Someday, it might even rival the Raikage's Lightning Release Chakra Mode."

"Madara Uchiha's Fire Release took dozens of Water Release specialists to stop?" Tsunade was curious about Madara Uchiha now.

Mito Uzumaki had privately remarked more than once that Uchiha Yi's talent was no less than Madara Uchiha's had been. But Tsunade knew little about Madara. She did not even know how strong her own grandfather had been. He was probably only somewhat stronger than Hiruzen Sarutobi and Tobirama Senju, wasn't he?

"Yes. Hashirama once said the power of Madara Uchiha's Mangekyō Sharingan might have amplified his jutsu. His jutsu were all stronger than an ordinary ninja's." Mentioning Madara Uchiha left Mito Uzumaki pensive.

At times, Mito Uzumaki wondered whether Tobirama Senju had been right to use certain means to keep Madara Uchiha from becoming Hokage. If Madara had stayed, would Hashirama still be alive? If Hashirama had lived, would Tobirama have survived too? Would the Uzumaki Clan have escaped destruction?

If they had followed Madara Uchiha's suggestion and unified the entire Shinobi World, would the world truly have found peace?

Madara Uchiha had done many wrong things, and he had been a madman. But no one could deny his pursuit of peace.

"I see. It's hard to imagine how strong he was." Tsunade stepped forward and ruffled Uchiha Yi's hair. "Kid, you did well. That's my student for you. Creating an A-rank jutsu at six years old is unheard of in the entire Shinobi World."

Uchiha Yi smiled shyly. "Without your help and Grandma Mito's, I might not have figured it out even after five or six years on my own."

"You're a good kid!" Tsunade nodded in satisfaction. She had even gone to Hatake Sakumo with questions about Lightning Release Chakra Nature Transformation for the boy's sake. At least he knew how to appreciate it.

"Have you thought of a name for the jutsu?" Mito Uzumaki's opinion of Uchiha Yi kept rising. It was a pity he was more than ten years too young. Otherwise, he might have made a fine grandson-in-law.

"I'll call it Chidori. It sounds like a thousand birds calling when I use it." Uchiha Yi had no intention of changing the name.

He did not know whether Kakashi's Chidori would be the same as his, or whether his version matched the original. But since Mito Uzumaki had acknowledged his Chidori, his was the genuine article.

"Chidori. A good name." Mito Uzumaki nodded in approval. "Chidori it is!"

"Man, what a shame. I don't have a lightning affinity, so I can't learn it at all." Nawaki clasped his hands behind his head, looking regretful. Over the past three months, he and Uchiha Yi had grown familiar with each other.

He had even challenged Uchiha Yi, only to discover that he could not beat this "junior disciple" who was two years younger than him.

The defeat had hit Nawaki hard. Fortunately, he was an optimistic boy. If he could not beat Uchiha Yi now, he just had to train harder.

"Nawaki!" Tsunade gave her little brother an exasperated look. Chidori was hardly easy to learn. Anyone who had mastered that level of Chakra Nature Transformation was unquestionably Chunin-level, and even an ordinary Chunin might not manage it. Her foolish little brother had a long way to go.

Even if Uchiha Yi taught Nawaki Chidori, Nawaki would not learn it for years. He would be better off studying his great-uncle Tobirama's Water Release and Orochimaru's Earth Release. Those suited him far better.

Why study Lightning Release when the right path was already in front of him?

"Now that you've developed Chidori, it's time I started teaching you Cherry Blossom Impact. Are you ready?" Tsunade was determined to make sure Uchiha Yi learned it. Otherwise, what kind of teacher would she be?

During their time together, she had also realized that, Uchiha or not, Uchiha Yi's physique was every bit as strong as a Senju's. With his astonishing Chakra control, he would have made an ideal student even if he had not been an Uchiha.

Why bother with the Sharingan when Uchiha Yi could follow her lead and use Cherry Blossom Impact?
