The Right Way to Fight

Uchiha bloodline, Indra's Chakra, Nawaki's physique, and Sakura's talent for controlling Chakra. It was a good thing Tsunade didn't know what Uchiha Yi had going for him, or she might have cried with envy.

Over the past three months, the Battle Space had refreshed three times. Unfortunately, Yi's luck hadn't been as good as it was at the start.

Yi had to admit he was still too weak. Even Obito Uchiha, fresh from awakening his Mangekyō Sharingan, was beyond him.

Darui was the Fifth Raikage, after all. Yi couldn't beat him either.

When he fought Kimimaro, Yi had planned to draw out the fight. He remembered that Kimimaro was already terminally ill by then. If he could stall long enough, he might have a chance.

But Yi had overestimated himself and underestimated Kimimaro. The man had been capable of taking part in Orochimaru's fight against the Fourth Kazekage. He was beyond Yi's current ability to handle, and defeated him easily despite his efforts to stall.

Yi strongly suspected Kimimaro had the strength of an Elite Jōnin.

Yi defeated Tayuya with ease, but all he gained was the Four Black Mist Formation, a combination technique. It was useless to him. He had no need for it, and even if he did, he could learn from Mito Uzumaki, a master of Sealing Jutsu.

When it came to Sealing Jutsu, few people in the history of the Shinobi World could match Mito Uzumaki.

Itama Senju was Hashirama Senju's youngest brother. Apparently, five adult members of the Uchiha Clan had surrounded and killed him—and tortured him in the process.

Even Yi had to admit that many Uchiha of that era were deranged. Killing an enemy child like Itama was one thing; once he picked up a weapon, he was an enemy.

But they wouldn't even spare children from their own clan. Uchiha Hikari was a reflection of the Uchiha of that era.

Of course, the Uchiha weren't the only ones at fault. The Senju would have struck down an Uchiha child without hesitation too.

Yi was naturally no match for Uchiha Itachi after he had awakened his Mangekyō Sharingan. The gap between them was too great.

This was Tsunade around the time the Sannin earned their fame—several years in Yi's future. By then, she had been tempered on the battlefield and grown far stronger. He couldn't stand against her either.

Yi defeated Itama Senju easily. Unfortunately, he gained Itama's Chakra reserves rather than his physique, though they did give his own Chakra a small boost.

Yi lost to Gaara from the Chunin Ninja Exams.

He could have handled Gaara alone. He had even been winning. But when Gaara realized he couldn't beat him, he released the One-Tail. That was beyond Yi's current ability to fight.

Defeating Kiba gave Yi Affinity with Dogs. Defeating Haku gave him the ability to perform Hand Seals with one hand. Yi not only mastered the technique but also greatly improved his Hand Seals speed.

Defeating Neji Hyuga took more effort. During the Chunin Ninja Exams, Neji had lost to Naruto because the plot demanded it. Without the Nine-Tails' power, Naruto could never have beaten him.

Fortunately, Yi was stronger than the average Chunin. After a hard fight, he defeated Neji and gained Gentle Fist Art: Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms.

Who knew how Hizashi Hyuga and Hyuga Hiashi would feel if they learned that Yi, an Uchiha, was better at Gentle Fist than either of them?

Still, Yi couldn't readily use Gentle Fist. Without the Byakugan to complement it, he couldn't bring out its full power.

He intended to fold Gentle Fist into his own fighting style and develop techniques of his own.

He clearly remembered that both Naruto and Momoshiki Otsutsuki had used Chinese Martial Arts. Momoshiki Otsutsuki had used textbook Eight Trigrams Palm, while Naruto had drawn on plenty of Wing Chun movements.

You only regretted not studying when you needed what the books had taught. Battles at the Six Paths level really were that simple.

Yi deeply regretted not learning about those arts before crossing over. With Chinese Martial Arts, the Chakra system, and his cheat ability combined, wouldn't he have been even more unstoppable?

As for Sasori, Yi was crushed. A Kage Level fighter was beyond anyone he could challenge right now.

In the original story, Chiyo and Sakura Haruno had defeated Sasori together largely because he no longer wanted to live. Otherwise, could the two of them have beaten him? Dream on. They would have been lucky not to hand him two kills.

But failing to gain many good rewards from the Battle Space didn't mean Yi hadn't grown stronger. In fact, he was still improving at a visible rate.

He had not only developed Chidori, but also learned plenty of fighting techniques from Tsunade. Even Mito Uzumaki held little back from him. Whenever he asked her a question, she patiently answered it.

Mito even taught Yi some of Madara Uchiha's fighting techniques.

The person who understood Madara Uchiha best wasn't Uchiha Izuna, but Hashirama Senju. Tobirama Senju came second. His study contained no fewer than a hundred ideas for countering Madara. Whether any of them would have worked was anyone's guess.

Madara was dead anyway, so there was no way to test them now.

After spending so much time around them, Mito had also learned quite a few of Madara's fighting techniques. She taught Yi each one.

Mito wasn't sure whether Yi could become a second Madara Uchiha. For now, helping him grow stronger was enough.

"Yi, are you planning to graduate early?" Nawaki suddenly asked.

His question drew glances from Tsunade, Kushina Uzumaki, and the others. They all wanted to know whether Yi was willing to graduate early.

"I am, but I plan to graduate next year. Why? Are you thinking of graduating early?" Yi made no secret of his plans. "I might seem fairly strong now, but I'm only six. I still have plenty of potential left to develop."
