He couldn't see its description yet. He would have to finish the quest and claim the reward first.

Still, system rewards were always good stuff. All he had to do now was work hard to finish the quest.

"Giant Onix, use Earthquake! Let's see if I can't shake this cage apart!"

"Onix!"

With a furious roar, a terrifying pressure erupted. The ground began to crack, the fissures racing straight toward the cage.

The cage was soon affected as the ground beneath it split open.

He thought he could break the cage open like this, but that was far too optimistic.

The cage had a protective outer layer. It didn't even sink into the ground.

Damn it, they did a pretty good job protecting this thing.

"Giant Onix, use Rock Slide! Let's see just how tough this defense is!"

Enormous rocks formed, unleashing a terrifying attack and overwhelming pressure in an instant.

But every rock bounced off the cage without doing any damage.

Tackle.

Giant Onix was just as furious and swept its tail around with all its strength.

Boom!

A deafening crash rang out as the blow landed squarely on the cage, yet it didn't budge.

Giant Onix even took some damage in return, leaving it looking miserable.

Liu Xin looked grim as he pondered aloud, "How am I supposed to break this thing open?"

"Forget it. All of you, come out!"

"Attack that cage with everything you've got! I refuse to believe we can't do this!"

The four Pokémon stood before everyone once more. Rather than rampaging, they quietly studied the cage before them.

Their eyes burned with fury. How dare these people treat Pokémon like this!

Liu Xin roared, "Use your strongest attacks! Break that damned cage open!"

Super Gible's claws lengthened, golden light shining amid a dragon's cry.

It rushed toward the cage, striking again and again with Dragon Claw.

A terrifying Knock Off followed close behind. Shiny Cubone wasn't about to fall behind.

Their attacks only caused a slight ripple in the cage's defenses before both were knocked back, their hands numb.

"Cubone, Cubone!"

Shiny Cubone nearly lost its grip on its bone club, showing just how powerful the cage's defensive response was.

Super Gible's Dragon Claw shattered instantly, and it looked no happier.

Their very first assault had ended in failure.

Then Liu Xin looked at Mutant Phanpy and slapped his thigh. "That's right! Mutant Phanpy's Ability, Armor-Breaking Fire, is incredibly useful. How could I have forgotten!?"

"Mutant Phanpy, start attacking! You're taking the lead this time!"

"Phanpy!"

Flamethrower. Fireball Technique.

Countless fireballs launched into an attack as flames spread outward at tremendous speed.

The cage was an inanimate object. How could it dodge?

They had thought there was absolutely no way an attack could break it open, but they had overlooked one special presence.

Armor-Breaking Fire ignored all shields. What did the cage's protection matter?

Whoosh.

The flames instantly roared to life, burning away at the shield and gradually taking effect.

"Yes! That's it!"

"Mutant Phanpy, you'll get the most credit this time!"

Mutant Phanpy might have been rebellious, but praise still made it happy.

It bounced with delight, attacking even faster.

With its strength in Special Attack, Mutant Phanpy dealt considerable damage.

Soon, the opening in the cage grew larger and larger, spreading outward.

Liu Xin pressed the advantage. "Now's your chance to show what you can do!"

"Super Gible, Shiny Cubone, attack those areas!"

Shiny Cubone and Mutant Phanpy had a combination skill, a hidden trick Liu Xin had developed through training.

Mutant Phanpy sprayed flames directly onto the bone club. Fire flared up instantly, making the blazing club look incredibly cool.

The bone club was now covered in Armor-Breaking Fire. This was their teamwork in action.

Liu Xin roared, "Charge! Show them what real terror looks like!"

"Cubone, Cubone."

Shiny Cubone looked incredibly cool at that moment as it gripped its blazing bone club and rushed toward the cage.

The temperature rose as it swung the bone club in its hands.

Shiny Cubone's Special Attack had risen to another level, becoming terrifyingly powerful.

It swiftly reached the cage with Super Gible at its side, and both attacked at once.

Dragon Breath!

A dragon's cry gathered in Super Gible's mouth and burst out a moment later.

The attack shot through the opening, causing the cage to cave in and shift off balance.

The strike was a success, breaking straight through the cage's defenses.

Shiny Cubone's attack followed immediately, its flaming bone club swinging nonstop.

Blow after blow rained down. Combined with Armor-Breaking Fire, the bone club's attacks were terrifying.

The cage's defenses were utterly shattered, and moments later, the cage itself broke apart.

The Pokémon inside fell to the ground. Covered in wounds and unable to walk, they gazed at the four Pokémon with admiration and gratitude.

With a single swing from Shiny Cubone, the flames vanished completely.

"The cage is broken! That monster has lost its energy source! Launch a full counterattack!"

"It's time! They've been using that thing to keep us down. Today, we settle this!"

In an instant, the Lighthouse Guardians launched their counterattack.

It was an overwhelming victory, the first time the Lighthouse Guardians had won so decisively.

The Treasure Hoarders' leader glared viciously at Liu Xin and threatened him. "I'll remember you, brat! You ruined my plans and destroyed my robot!"

"You're dead!"

They retreated like an ebbing tide, utterly disgraced.

Charizard's trainer was rather stunned. How had this kid managed it?

Even his level-sixty Charizard hadn't been able to do much damage to the cage.

How on earth had Liu Xin done it?

The Lighthouse Guardians were all curious, and their gazes soon settled on Mutant Phanpy.

"Trainer Liu Xin, it's entirely thanks to you that we were able to defeat the Treasure Hoarders this time."

"If it weren't for you, they might have gained the upper hand. We could even have lost."

"Everyone at the lighthouse is grateful to you. This is a small token of our thanks. Please accept it."

A Pokémon Pet Egg was handed over. Liu Xin accepted it, brimming with excitement.

Pet Eggs were said to hatch random Pokémon. What Pokémon would hatch from his egg?

Ding! Pet Egg detected. Your Pet Egg has been set to Ground-type and is guaranteed to hatch a Ground-type Pokémon.

Seriously!?

The system really had everything decided for him. It wouldn't even leave his Pet Egg alone.

He had been looking forward to discovering what type of Pokémon he would get. Now it was fixed as Ground-type.

Half his enthusiasm was gone, along with half his curiosity.

Sen Anxiang suddenly called out, "Liu Xin, come over here and take a look! This seems to be something the Treasure Hoarders left behind."
