Background and History

Ava is the daughter of White Cliff Town’s mayor, Boll. She grew up with Xilian, Tim, and Mick, and is one of the few people who can keep the three Soflova Brothers in line. She regularly makes them breakfast after their night patrols 4 6.

She has never left White Cliff Town. Curious about places she knows only from books, she asks Xilian about rivers and the sea; he promises that they will see them together 23. Ava also encourages his work on a motorcycle, remembering how he persisted when others thought he could not repair it 7.

At a town celebration, Ava tells Xilian why she is drawn to him: she once overheard him praise her kindness and the care she gives the brothers, rather than just her appearance. They dance together, and she accepts Tim’s subsequent invitation to dance 27. Moments later, an attack devastates the town. Ava sees her father turn into a Demon, and Tim kills him to save her 27.

Ava survives the initial attack but is among the survivors contaminated by Chaos. During her final conversation with Xilian, she recognizes that he is lying about her recovery. She tells him she loves him and the Soflova Brothers, and asks him to remember their peaceful days. After Xilian leaves, Tim asks her for one last dance; Xilian later finds that they died together 34 35.

Appearance

Ava is short, with freckles across her nose, brown eyes, and long hair that she usually ties back. She commonly wears a plain white dress 4 27.

Personality

Ava is affectionate and attentive, but willing to confront the brothers when they are careless or cruel. She challenges Tim and Mick’s callous talk while Xilian’s survival is uncertain, and later scolds Xilian for risking his life and hiding his dangerous Torchbearer ritual from her 4 17 24.

Cooking is her passion: she studies recipes, tries new dishes when supplies permit, and takes pride in Xilian’s praise of her syrup pancakes 23 24. Even while grieving during the town’s destruction, she manages to call Tim back to his senses when he falters while protecting the survivors 30.
