Background and History

Nuen took Tim in as an orphan. Tim was once the youngest of three Soflova Brothers, but a failed Transcendent ritual turned one of his older brothers into a Demon and contaminated the other while he protected Tim. Nuen killed both. During the ensuing incursion, Tim survived beneath a collapsed door while other children were killed; his belief that greater strength might have saved them drove his obsessive physical training 4 7 23.

Tim later led the new group of Soflova Brothers alongside Xilian and Mick. He maintained weapons in the Armory and patrolled White Cliff Town’s wall. When Xilian considered becoming a Torchbearer, Tim opposed the risk at first, remembering the failed ritual, but celebrated when Xilian succeeded 7 17 18.

During the town’s final Chaos assault, Tim helped organize and defend the survivors with Mick and Ava. He grieved Mick’s death and continued working after the battle. When scales appeared around his wounds, revealing that he too had been contaminated, he urged Xilian to leave rather than stay with him. Xilian later found Tim and Ava dead together and buried the survivors 30 33 34 35.

Tim is the tallest and most heavily built of the Soflova Brothers, described as resembling a hulking black bear 4 17.

Personality

Tim’s rough jokes and teasing can sound callous, but he is protective of his brothers. He cared for Mick after Nuen adopted him, worried that Xilian might die in a Transcendent ritual, and hoped Xilian would return if he left White Cliff Town 4 7 18 21.

Violence troubles Tim despite his strength. His first killing left him with nightmares, and watching townspeople die during the final assault shook him deeply. He regards Xilian’s apparent ease with killing with both unease and concern 20 30 34.
