Everyone was at a loss for words over Luke's bizarre way of naming things. But since neither victim objected—or rather, since one person's objections were ignored—they had no choice but to accept the names.
Still, calling the two by those names was awkward, so Fubuki came up with a compromise.
In private, they would call the girl "Sugar Baby" and the boy "Crash Boy."
After a full day together, everyone had grown closer, except Tatsumaki and Crash Boy, who still didn't get along. The cheerful, lively Sugar Baby, in particular, had already become the one who made everyone smile.
Unlike her brother Crash Boy, Sugar Baby clicked with Tatsumaki for some reason. After just one day, the two were becoming inseparable.
On their second day at the Mitarai Residence, they spent the whole afternoon playing catch in the courtyard.
Their game was simple: Tatsumaki threw the ball, and Sugar Baby caught it. Yet those two clever little troublemakers found endless ways to make it interesting.
Tatsumaki's throws were downright unpredictable. Her throwing motion looked normal enough, but the ball's path through the air obeyed no laws of physics. She secretly controlled its direction and speed.
Even so, no matter how tricky Tatsumaki made the throw, Sugar Baby caught it cleanly.
After all, she ignored the laws of physics too.
The two showed off their respective abilities in the courtyard until Serizawa confiscated the Metal Bat from Tatsumaki's hands.
Serizawa had slept until the following afternoon. His wounds were healing at an astonishing rate: his split skin had scabbed over, and parts of his charred skin had already peeled away to reveal fresh, fair skin beneath.
For Serizawa, this stage of healing was particularly awkward. He was covered in patches of black and white, like a young Black man with vitiligo.
