Background / History
Wishdale was once a mercenary and a veteran of the Babel era. Her experiences left her deeply suspicious of generosity, particularly from powerful people; Theresia was the rare exception she trusted without reservation. 109
During the destruction of her worldline by Originium, Wishdale was near death when Chen Ran revived her with Faith. Initially believing his voice to be a dying hallucination, she became enraged when he called her Periplaneta americana—“American Cockroach.” 108
With the world apparently devoid of life, Wishdale travelled through the Originium-infested wasteland under Chen Ran’s guidance. She gradually relied on his full-map vision, acquired Floating Cannons and the Souls within them, and set out for Rhodes Island in pursuit of a way to strike directly at Originium. 111 112 113
At Rhodes Island, Wishdale found the Doctor alive inside a Sarcophagus and later discovered Amiya’s rings after the Sarcophagus vanished. She made a grave for Amiya, asked Originium not to replicate her, and accepted the descending Black Crown despite understanding that vengeance could not restore the dead. 114 115
As the third Demon King, Wishdale fought Originium replicas across Terra. Learning that killing the replicas accelerated Originium’s spread caused her guilt, but seeing a replica of Theresia ultimately hardened her resolve against the Primal Originium. 116 117
Wishdale eventually fought the Primal Originium Anana in a final battle, exhausting her ammunition before using the Black Crown as a dagger to strike its core. Anana’s death throe devastated Terra, after which Chen Ran removed Wishdale from the ruined worldline. 207
When she and the Doctor revisited the destroyed Terra, Wishdale recovered her abandoned Ancestor Launcher and helped build tombstones for the dead, including Theresia, Ines, and Heredrey. She later participated in the effort to reverse Terra’s time and restore its inhabitants. 206 207 208
Appearance
Wishdale is a fair-skinned woman whose appearance is frequently defined by red-painted nails, black stockings, and a Black Crown. Her clothing changes often, but she is notably protective of outfits and accessories given to her by Chen Ran. 113 114 154
- Often wears a small red jacket and short bottoms. 109
- Uses red nail polish to shape her fingertips into “gun” gestures while attacking. 116
- Bears a Black Crown, later described as broken and accompanied by a pure halo. 211 215
- Can manifest wings and fly while carrying others. 206
- In Chen Ran’s space, she is often approximately 18 cm tall; she can create and inhabit a 165 cm life-sized replica body. 189 216
Personality
Wishdale is volatile, sharp-tongued, and confrontational. She frequently insults Chen Ran, calls him a “dog,” and answers provocation with threats, sarcasm, or an obscene gesture. Her bluntness extends to enemies and allies alike. 109 110 211
Beneath her bravado, Wishdale is profoundly affected by isolation and loss. She initially wanted to die after becoming seemingly the last survivor, but Chen Ran’s presence gave her enough companionship to continue living. Her rage against Originium is rooted less in optimism than in her refusal to let the force that destroyed everyone close to her escape unscathed. 109 110 113
She is capable of restraint and compassion despite her cruelty. When Chen Ran warned her away from a possible replica of someone she loved, she chose to detour rather than confront it. She mourned Amiya, built graves for lost companions, and silently assisted the Doctor with memorials for Rhodes Island’s dead. 111 115 207
Abilities & Skills
Floating Cannons
Wishdale commands a formation of Floating Cannons obtained after completing the “rabbit head” line.
- A documented formation places three cannons on each side, three overhead, and two directly ahead of her. 112
- Each cannon is main-gun grade and intended for city-level warfare. 112
- She can use the cannons to power a vehicle for faster travel across the wasteland. 112
- The cannons can combine their fire on a target, as seen when they converged against the Primal Originium. 117
- The Souls housed within the cannons are normally noisy; Chen Ran muted them at Wishdale’s request. 112
Ancestor Launcher
Wishdale’s main cannon-class Witchcraft Amplification Unit is known as the Ancestor Launcher and houses the Souls that accompanied her through the apocalypse. 207
- Fires powerful blasts capable of destroying Originium replicas and terrain. 110 113
- Was left behind after her battle with Anana, then recovered when Wishdale returned to ruined Terra. 207
- Its charged shot was powerful enough to summon a Deity for the reversal of Terra’s time. 207
- Later manifests energy output that Precise judges capable of splitting the planet in half. 211
Black Crown
The Black Crown made Wishdale the third and final Demon King of her worldline. 115
- Can transform into a dagger; Wishdale used it to pierce Anana’s core after exhausting her other weapons. 207
- Supports aerial movement, with Wishdale demonstrating a halo and wings. 206
- Allows her to replicate a life-sized body and transfer her consciousness into it. 216
- Remains on her head in a damaged state after her later return to Terra. 211 215
Combat Experience
Wishdale’s mercenary background and Babel-era experience make her an effective combatant even before accounting for her Demon King abilities. 109 114
- Quickly identifies and eliminates Originium-made “Red Name” enemies with her cannon. 110 114
- Navigates Rhodes Island’s interior from familiarity with its Babel-era layout. 114
- Maintains combat effectiveness in the face of large-scale Originium replication, though replicas of Theresia can disrupt her focus. 117
