"Did you hear? The boss of our Nuoding Academy isn't Xiao Chenyu anymore. It's a newly arrived work-study student, seems like his name is... Cheng Xiao."
"Right, right, Cheng Xiao. Wait, no, no—we shouldn't call him Cheng Xiao. We should call him Boss Cheng."
"Apparently, at noon today, Boss Cheng represented the work-study students and took down all the upperclassmen by himself. You know Liu Long and Ling Feng, right? They got wrecked!"
"Also, do you know what Boss Cheng said after beating Xiao Chenyu?"
"What did he say?"
"I only heard it from others, just heard it, okay? After that Boss Cheng defeated Xiao Chenyu, he didn't act like some boss. He even took Xiao Chenyu in as his lackey. Now Xiao Chenyu calls himself Boss Cheng's number one lackey."
"Damn, where did you hear that wild story? That's way too wild, isn't it?"
On the second floor of Nuoding Academy's cafeteria, Tang San sat in a corner by the window. He had only recently returned from Master's place. After all, Master had a share of the Soul Master Subsidy he had collected, and since he had gone there, he naturally could not avoid another lesson in Martial Soul theory.
Having gone hungry all day, Tang San did not get his first meal until evening. But now that he had money, his dinner was quite good—meat dishes, vegetables, and even a bowl of soup.
Listening to several upperclassmen chatting loudly, Tang San ate with his head lowered, his heart full of confusion. Still, he paid it no mind. Whether it was Cheng Xiao or Xiao Chenyu, they were merely children in his eyes.
Cheng Xiao might have matured early, but so what?
He had come to this world not only with the guidance of the Martial Soul Theory Master, but also with a thorough mastery of the Tang Sect's techniques. Moreover, he possessed the powerful cultivation aid known as the Mysterious Heaven Skill.
Tang San believed that no matter what kind of genius encountered him, they would only pale in comparison. Not only would he prove his teacher's Martial Soul theories to the world, but he would also rebuild the Tang Sect in this foreign world.
Tang San had lived as a member of the Tang Sect, and he would die as a ghost of the Tang Sect. No matter what, he would find a way to restore the Tang Sect's glory, even in another world.
Right now, I need to arm myself completely. Tang San drank the last mouthful of soup and thought, I should find work at a Blacksmith Shop. That way, I'll have materials to forge Tang Sect Hidden Weapons. With Hidden Weapons on me, I won't be afraid even if I encounter danger.
When Cheng Xiao and Xiao Wu returned to the Dormitory, Wang Sheng and the others were all there. Judging from their animated expressions, they were clearly discussing something entertaining.
"Boss Cheng, Sister Xiao Wu, you're back!" Wang Sheng immediately came forward when he saw the two push open the Dormitory door.
"Wang Sheng, what are you talking about? Why are you so happy?" Cheng Xiao asked doubtfully.
Wang Sheng chuckled. "Boss Cheng, you don't know this. After you and Sister Xiao Wu left, that Xiao Chenyu guy fought to become your number one lackey. Now the whole Academy knows he's your lackey."
"What?" Cheng Xiao froze. "Xiao Chenyu fought to become my number one lackey? Are you messing with me?"
Wang Sheng said proudly, "Isn't it all thanks to Boss Cheng? Don't worry, Boss Cheng. Xiao Chenyu is quite good at being a lackey. He found out that us work-study students had to clean the Playground, and so he didn't want you to tire yourself out."
"He specifically arranged for upperclassmen to take over all the work of us work-study students. From now on, we won't have to work, and we can still collect our wages. It's all thanks to Boss Cheng!"
"Thank you, Boss Cheng!"
As soon as Wang Sheng finished speaking, the other work-study students in Dormitory Seven shouted with utmost sincerity.
"Enough, enough. Why are you calling me Boss Cheng?" Cheng Xiao waved a hand, saying with a headache, "Wang Sheng, didn't I say not to call me Boss Cheng?"
Wang Sheng said awkwardly, "Cheng... Cheng Xiao, it's not something I can decide. Everyone wants to call you that. There's nothing I can do."
"That's right, Boss Cheng, we're doing it willingly!"
As if to prove their loyalty, the work-study students of Dormitory Seven spoke up again, each sounding more loyal than the last.
"Forget it, call me whatever you want." Cheng Xiao said helplessly, "But from now on, in the Dormitory, either call me Cheng Xiao or don't call me at all. If anyone calls me Boss Cheng again, I'll hit you with an uppercut. Understand?"
"Understood! Boss Cheng!"
"You guys are unbelievable." Looking at the work-study students deliberately addressing him that way, Cheng Xiao shook his head and walked straight toward his bed. He planned to grab his toiletries, wash up, and then sleep.
"By the way, Sister Xiao Wu, why did you and Boss Cheng come back so late?" Wang Sheng suddenly asked.
Xiao Wu glanced at him, then at Cheng Xiao, who had already gone out to wash up. "Nothing much. I just accompanied Cheng Xiao to get his Soul Master certification."
"Soul Master certification!" Wang Sheng exclaimed.
The surrounding work-study students all revealed looks of envy, but that was all they felt. The strength Cheng Xiao had displayed today had completely exceeded their expectations. He was simply not human—he was a war god!
Taking on every upperclassman alone was a feat that had never happened in all of Nuoding Academy!
What was more, the one who had defeated those upperclassmen was a work-study student just like them. That made the work-study students even more delighted.
With Cheng Xiao's arrival, they no longer had to endure the strange looks of others. And all of it was because of Cheng Xiao, the true boss of their Dormitory Seven!
"Alright, Wang Sheng, I'm going to rest. I walked around with him all day, and I'm exhausted." Xiao Wu stretched, yawned, and returned to the bed they shared, quickly falling into a deep sleep.
Wang Sheng scratched his head and did not disturb Xiao Wu further. However, he still told the other work-study students to lower their voices so they would not interrupt her sleep.
After washing up, Cheng Xiao saw Xiao Wu already asleep, wrapped in the blanket.
Shaking his head helplessly, Cheng Xiao sat at the edge of the bed. Looking at Xiao Wu, who had occupied the two beds pushed together, he could not help smiling. Then he reached out, slipped an arm beneath Xiao Wu's neck, and gently lifted her up.
Xiao Wu was very light, and Cheng Xiao had no trouble carrying her. After making enough space for himself to lie down, he gently put Xiao Wu back down.
"Tang San, why are you back so late too?"
Just as he had settled Xiao Wu, Wang Sheng's voice suddenly rang out.
Cheng Xiao turned around and saw Tang San pushing open the door and walking in. Their gazes met immediately. Cheng Xiao nodded at him, then looked away.
Watching Cheng Xiao withdraw his gaze and lie down to sleep, Tang San was somewhat baffled. The two had been at each other's throats that afternoon, so why was Cheng Xiao's attitude toward him so different now that it was evening?
But Tang San did not let down his guard. Only the two of them knew about what had happened in the Soul Hunting Forest. He did not know what Cheng Xiao was thinking, nor did he want to guess. After all, the situation had been urgent then. If they had not left someone behind to delay their pursuer, none of the three would have escaped.
It was not his fault that he had chosen to leave Cheng Xiao behind. Cheng Xiao would only have held them back anyway. Besides, Master was Tang San's teacher, so he could not let him die there so easily.
As for himself, Tang San would never place himself in danger.
"Cheng Xiao, if you have time, I'd like to spar with you." Tang San looked at Cheng Xiao, who was already lying down, thought for a moment, and spoke.
He had heard plenty about Cheng Xiao while in the cafeteria. For some reason, he felt curious about the Cheng Xiao everyone talked about, so he wanted to spar with him and test his own combat abilities along the way.
"Spar?" Cheng Xiao sat up and said calmly, "Of course."
Tang San's face lit up. "Then we..."
"Tang San, let's talk about sparring tomorrow. I'm a little sleepy right now." Before Tang San could finish, Cheng Xiao interrupted him with a yawn.
"Then... that's fine." Tang San's expression stiffened. "Then tomorrow."
"Tomorrow, tomorrow." Cheng Xiao waved at Tang San, then lay back down and closed his eyes.
Seeing this, Tang San could only sigh helplessly. He did not pay much attention to Cheng Xiao's behavior. Though interrupting him had been somewhat rude, Cheng Xiao had at least agreed to spar with him, hadn't he?
As for talking tomorrow, then they would talk tomorrow!
