Chapter 21
"Ah, after all these years, I still can't break through level thirty. It seems I can only put more effort into theory." After finishing his meditation, Master found that his Soul Power level had not improved in the slightest and could not help sighing in disappointment.
"But thankfully, I've taken in a genius with Twin Martial Souls. With Xiao San, I'll definitely prove to the soul master world that I'm not worthless!"
Master's heart swelled with ambition. Ever since taking Tang San as his disciple, he had felt as though he had been given a second lease on life. As long as Tang San followed his theories, sooner or later he would be able to prove that he was not worthless, but a master of martial soul theory on the Douluo Continent!
Knock, knock, knock.
Just then, someone suddenly knocked on the door.
"The door isn't locked. Come in." Master looked at the door and spoke calmly.
Who could it be at this hour?
Master was somewhat puzzled, but as the door opened, a tall, burly middle-aged man walked in. He wore a tattered black robe, and his disheveled hair covered his eyes, making him look exactly like a beggar.
"May I ask who you are?" Master asked in confusion as he looked at the visitor.
For some reason, despite being unable to see the man's eyes, Master still felt an indescribable pressure. It was as though what stood before him was not a human, but a ferocious beast.
"Master, come to think of it, it has been more than twenty years since we last met, hasn't it?" the middle-aged man slowly said in a low, hoarse voice.
"You are?" Master instinctively used an honorific. He did not know why this beggar-like middle-aged man knew him, but people did not visit without reason. Besides, it was deep into the night, making the man all the more suspicious.
More importantly, Master could sense faint Soul Power fluctuations from this middle-aged man. Those fluctuations far surpassed his own. Even if he did not want to continue this conversation, he had no choice but to do so.
"Heh." The middle-aged man looked at Master with a half-smile, then brushed aside the hair covering his eyes and said in a deep voice, "It's no wonder you don't recognize me looking like this. Master, I'm Tang Hao."
"What? You... you're Tang Hao!" At the sound of that name, shock flashed through Master's eyes. His stiff face changed slightly as he respectfully said, "Greetings, Your Highness Haotian."
"What Your Highness? That was all in the past." Tang Hao's voice was low as his sharp gaze fell on Master. "I assume you've long guessed Xiao San's background?"
"Yes, Your Highness Haotian." Master's voice trembled. "I had long guessed that Xiao San's father was you. The Clear Sky Sect has sealed itself away for many years and has not appeared in the soul master world for a long time. Apart from you, there are no other direct descendants outside."
"Heh, you are clever." A sharp gleam flashed through Tang Hao's eyes. "I know you took Xiao San as your disciple. Now that I've met you, your reputation is well deserved."
"I don't deserve such praise. Teaching him is simply my duty. Otherwise, there would have been no need for him to take me as his master," Master said quietly.
"Good. With a teacher like you, I believe he'll soon become a powerful soul master." Tang Hao nodded slightly, then said solemnly, "I have some matters to attend to next. I'll leave Xiao San in your care."
"You're leaving?" Master frowned slightly. "You're Xiao San's father. Shouldn't you tell him?"
"There's no need. With you taking care of Xiao San, I'm at ease." Tang Hao shook his head, and his gaze suddenly turned cold. "There are things I need to do myself. Besides, I've always remembered what Spirit Hall did to me, Tang Hao, back then."
"Are you planning to take on Spirit Hall alone?" Master seemed to realize something and cried out in alarm.
"Spirit Hall?" Tang Hao snorted coldly. "I'm merely going to collect a little interest on an old debt."
"But you needn't worry. I won't do anything foolish. The only one in my heart now is Xiao San. At the same time, I hope you remember that although he is Tang Hao's son, he is also your disciple. A teacher for a day, a father for life. I hope those aren't just empty words."
"From the day Xiao San became my disciple, I had already regarded him as my own son. I will take responsibility for caring for him until you, Your Highness Haotian... return."
Hearing Master's words, Tang Hao nodded in satisfaction. Then he raised a hand and flicked it. A jet-black token engraved with six martial soul symbols landed directly on the table where Master kept his theoretical materials.
"This is..." Master's pupils suddenly contracted as he stared fixedly at the token Tang Hao had casually tossed onto the table.
"Looks like you know what that is." Tang Hao cut off Master's next words and said coldly, "I'm at ease with you teaching Xiao San, but I came to see you this time for another matter."
"Xiao San is a straightforward child. Have him spend more time with the girl in the Dormitory named Xiao Wu."
"Hm? Xiao Wu?" Master froze for a moment and blurted out, "Is there something special about that girl?"
"Don't ask too much. You only need to know that the girl has an extraordinary background. There's no harm in having Xiao San interact with her more. It would be best if their relationship could go further. She will be a great opportunity for Xiao San."
"A great opportunity for Xiao San..." Master thought for a moment and guessed, "I understand what you mean. She must be the descendant of some reclusive family, right? Don't worry, I'll speak to Xiao San."
Tang Hao gave Master a deep look and said nothing more.
Bang!
The door shut, and Tang Hao's tall figure disappeared from the room.
Watching Tang Hao leave, Master picked up the black token and held it in his hand. A trace of bitterness appeared at the corner of his mouth as he sighed softly. "I never thought my idol would become like this."
"But what is so special about that girl that His Highness Haotian would specifically instruct me about her? Still, having them spend more time together isn't a bad thing."
"Heh... Three children with Innate Full Soul Power have appeared in a tiny Nuoding Academy. That woman Bibi Dong probably knows already, doesn't she?"
Spirit City, Papal Palace.
Within the spacious, brightly lit Papal Palace sat a woman of breathtaking beauty. Her eyes were half-lidded as she lazily looked over a document in her hand.
This document had been urgently sent from a rural town, seemingly some small place called Nuoding City. Yet even she, the Pope, was somewhat surprised by what it contained.
"Elder Ju, do you think a Blue Silver Grass, a martial soul known as useless, could produce a genius with Innate Full Soul Power?" Bibi Dong's purple eyes shifted slightly as she looked toward the heavily made-up man in golden armor kneeling halfway to the ground in the hall.
"Reporting to His Holiness the Pope, based on my research into flowers and plants, it is absolutely impossible for Blue Silver Grass alone to produce a genius with Innate Full Soul Power," Chrysanthemum Douluo Yue Guan said solemnly.
Chrysanthemum Douluo had studied flowers and plants for decades and possessed a deep understanding of all kinds of vegetation. A useless martial soul like Blue Silver Grass struggled even to awaken Soul Power. How could it possibly possess Innate Full Soul Power?
"Elder Ju is right. But is there another possibility? What if this genius with Innate Full Soul Power possessed a second martial soul in addition to Blue Silver Grass?" Bibi Dong lazily stretched, then waved her hand lightly. The document in her hand flew directly into Chrysanthemum Douluo Yue Guan's grasp.
"Are you saying... Twin Martial Souls?" Hearing Pope Bibi Dong's words, Chrysanthemum Douluo was first stunned. Then he quickly scanned the contents of the document. A moment later, his voice trembled. "Tang San, surname Tang, Innate Full Soul Power, martial soul Blue Silver Grass!"
"It seems you've noticed what is strange about this document as well." Bibi Dong rested her cheek on one hand and said indifferently, "How could a child with a useless martial soul possess Innate Full Soul Power? Unless he has another martial soul, and that martial soul is of the same quality as Blue Silver Grass."
"Your Holiness the Pope, a useless martial soul like Blue Silver Grass has no quality to speak of. Besides, even if he has Twin Martial Souls, what martial soul could possibly be of the same quality as Blue Silver Grass?" Chrysanthemum Douluo asked in confusion.
"Elder Ju, then what do you think is the upper limit of Blue Silver Grass?" Bibi Dong asked him.
"You mean..." A sharp gleam flashed in Chrysanthemum Douluo's eyes, as though he had thought of something.
