Before the Zombie Commander was killed, the zombies downstairs all had clear targets to attack.
But the moment Little Knife sliced off the Zombie Commander's head, he lost control of the zombies.
As a result, tens of thousands of zombies were packed into the Residential Camp, unable to get farther in or find their way out.
Liu Feng spread the map Han Bing had brought him across the table.
Even if the Zombie Tide gradually receded and they reclaimed the Residential Camp, a place littered with so many zombie corpses would no longer be fit to live in.
Their most urgent task was to choose a new camp and lead everyone in a breakout. Only then would they have a chance of survival.
Suddenly, Liu Feng's index finger stopped on the A58 Gathering Place, not far from the Residential Camp.
The gathering place lay directly north of them, roughly thirty kilometers away. Once a prosperous little town, it was now a large gathering place housing nearly a thousand people.
Liu Feng's group only numbered a little over a hundred survivors in total. Compared with the gathering place, they were still quite a small force.
Seeing where Liu Feng's finger rested, Han Bing's heart jolted.
"Feng, the A58 Gathering Place... that place..."
Liu Feng raised an eyebrow at Han Bing, eager to hear what he had to say.
"What's wrong with the A58 Gathering Place?"
Han Bing paused and glanced around. Only after making sure no one was paying attention did he lean close to Liu Feng's ear and whisper cautiously, "Feng, the A58 Gathering Place is notoriously chaotic. If we really want to go there, everyone will object."
Liu Feng knew nothing about the situation at the A58 Gathering Place, so he was full of questions.
"Chaotic?" Liu Feng raised an eyebrow at Han Bing and continued, "Isn't chaos pretty normal in an apocalypse?"
Seeing Liu Feng's puzzled expression, Han Bing shook his head helplessly.
"Feng, you don't know what things are like there." Han Bing paused before continuing, "Nearly every numbered gathering place falls under the main city's authority. But this one is different. They refuse to follow the main city's orders. Almost every official sent in to take charge dies suddenly within a week. I don't need to spell out the details."
At that, much of Liu Feng's confusion cleared.
"Well... that doesn't really count as chaos. At most, it's a change in leadership."
Liu Feng gave a crooked smile and shook his head helplessly. "Feng, the leadership is exactly where the chaos comes from."
"Huh?" Liu Feng was bewildered.
"If they won't even obey officials sent from outside, how could they possibly accept someone from within as their leader? Because of that position, the entire A58 Gathering Place has split into three main factions."
"Which three?"
"The Black Tiger Party, led by Long Wu; the Cheetah Faction, led by Liu Honggou; and the Lion Group, led by Zerui."
Seeing the serious look on Liu Feng's face, Han Bing nodded solemnly.
"All three factions want that position. But since none of them will accept the others' authority, no one has ever managed to claim it. Their open clashes and covert struggles have been playing out in the A58 Gathering Place all this time."
After hearing Han Bing's explanation, Liu Feng rested both hands against his chin and nodded thoughtfully.
"Sounds pretty good."
"What?"
Han Bing thought he must have misheard.
By all rights, a place that unstable could not accommodate an influx of newcomers. Even if they successfully broke through the Zombie Tide, they might not be granted entry to the A58 Gathering Place.
The risks and unknowns were endless.
"Feng, that place..."
Before the anxious Han Bing could finish, Liu Feng raised a hand and cut him off.
"Han Bing, I know what you're trying to say." Liu Feng raised an eyebrow and smiled, lowering his voice. "It's chaotic there, sure, but you have to understand that opportunity and danger go hand in hand!"
Han Bing had wanted to argue further, but the blazing look in Liu Feng's eyes made him give up.
He nodded and stood beside Liu Feng, looking at the spot his finger indicated.
The third day.
The zombies wandered aimlessly, and with the several clearing operations Liu Feng had organized, there were far fewer of them downstairs than before.
Watching the Zombie Tide thin by the day, Liu Feng revealed a meaningful smile.
"Han Bing, what do you think about breaking out now?"
At Liu Feng's words, Han Bing turned to look at the zombies downstairs, considering it.
"Feng, I'll follow your lead."
Liu Feng nodded.
With a sweep of his hand, his entire insect army appeared out of thin air.
Over the past few days of clearing operations, Liu Feng had used his insects to kill plenty of zombies. In the process, he had also gained a substantial amount of experience.
Without hesitation, Liu Feng poured all that experience into the Iron-toothed Insects. Now at LV10, they had grown as large as fists, greatly increasing the speed at which they devoured zombies.
What was more, the LV10 Iron-toothed Insects now numbered a terrifying 900,000.
All 900,000 Iron-toothed Insects appeared in the air, like a cloud radiating silver light.
The sight was simply staggering!
Just then, Han Bing, standing nearby, suddenly shouted to the others, "Everyone, we don't have much food left in storage. So if we want to keep living better lives, we have to relocate."
"Relocate?"
"We're leaving this place?"
"We clearly have enough food to last another week if we ration it. Why are you saying we're running short?"
"Looks like this must be Feng's idea!"
"Feng's idea? Then I'm all for it, no questions asked!"
"I agree too!"
As all kinds of voices rose around him, Liu Feng showed neither worry nor delight.
Only once everyone had quieted down did Han Bing continue, "Our destination is the A58 Gathering Place, thirty kilometers away!"
"Holy shit, did I hear that right?"
"The A58 Gathering Place! That's the most chaotic gathering place of all!"
"Doesn't Feng know what it's like there? How could he make such a rash decision?"
"I still can't believe it!"
Hearing everyone's discussion, Liu Feng finally moved.
He swallowed and slowly raised his hand, signaling for silence.
The moment his hand went up, the entire rooftop fell so quiet that even a pin dropping could have been heard.
Liu Feng looked around at everyone present, then cleared his throat softly.
"Ahem. You heard correctly. This was my idea! And it was a decision I made after careful consideration! I want to lead everyone toward a better future, and the A58 Gathering Place is our chance to turn our fortunes around!"
