More Sensible Than Others

As soon as Dao Ancestor Hongjun finished speaking, Taishang Laozi was the first to speak. "Master, how can one become a Saint?"

"There are three methods of becoming a Saint. The best is to Prove Dao with Strength. Those who become Saints through Proving Dao with Strength possess the greatest power.

However, precisely because their power is too great, they cannot coexist with heaven and earth. In the end, like the great god Pangu, they cannot escape falling.

The second method is the Three Corpses Severing Method. First sever the three corpses of good, evil, and obsession, then unite the three corpses to prove Dao and become a Saint.

However, the Three Corpses Severing Method also has a drawback: Innate Spiritual Treasures are needed to house the incarnations of the good, evil, and obsession corpses.

The lowest method is Merit Sanctification. Perform benevolent deeds beneficial to heaven and earth, and the Heavenly Dao will bestow boundless merit.

Even without severing the three corpses, as long as one has sufficient merit, one can instantly prove Dao and become a Saint, though their strength will be the weakest."

After Dao Ancestor Hongjun finished, Taishang Laozi rose and bowed in thanks, then returned to his Prayer Mat and closed his eyes without another word.

Yuanshi Tianzun then rose as well and bowed. "Master, how can the three severed corpses be united?"

"Find where your opportunity lies and fuse with the Foundation of the Great Dao, Primordial Violet Qi. Then you may prove Dao and become a Saint."

Yuanshi Tianzun bowed in thanks, then returned to his Prayer Mat.

Tongtian rose next, bowed, and said, "Master, who can become a Saint?"

Dao Ancestor Hongjun waved his hand, and four streams of violet qi instantly appeared within the Purple Cloud Palace.

"This is Primordial Violet Qi, the Foundation of the Great Dao bestowed by the Heavenly Dao. Those who obtain it may become Saints."

The moment Dao Ancestor Hongjun said this, everyone's eyes fixed upon the four streams of Primordial Violet Qi.

With another wave of Dao Ancestor Hongjun's hand, the four streams of Primordial Violet Qi respectively descended upon the heads of the Three Pure Ones and Goddess Nvwa, then vanished.

"The Three Pure Ones were transformed from Pangu's three souls and are my direct disciples. In the future, they will spread the teachings of the Mystical School throughout the primordial world. They may become Saints.

"Nüwa was among the first batch of living beings to take form and attain Dao after the creation of heaven and earth. She possesses immense providence. In the future, boundless merit will be added to her body, and she may become a Saint."

The Three Pure Ones and Goddess Nvwa could not help showing delight. They hurriedly rose and bowed to Dao Ancestor Hongjun in thanks.

This left everyone in the Purple Cloud Palace sweating with anxiety, especially the two from the west who also had seats.

Yet when they saw that Dao Ancestor Hongjun had no intention of continuing, Daoist Zhunti became frantic.

Daoist Jieyin immediately burst into tears. "Our west is already impoverished and cannot compare with the east.

"If the west is left without a Saint to preside over it, it will one day become a barren wasteland.

"Teacher, please show mercy and bestow Primordial Violet Qi to protect the countless living beings of the west."

Seeing Daoist Jieyin in tears, Dao Ancestor Hongjun sighed. "Very well. These two streams of Primordial Violet Qi shall be granted to you.

"Jieyin and Zhunti of the west may lack great opportunities, but they can establish the Eight Hundred Side Doors and may also become Saints in the future."

After saying this, another stream of Primordial Violet Qi appeared in his hand, and he casually waved it outward.

"The Great Dao has fifty; Heaven derives forty-nine, with one escaping, leaving all living beings under heaven a sliver of hope.

"You may each rely on your own providence for this stream of Primordial Violet Qi. The virtuous may obtain it."

The stream of Primordial Violet Qi immediately darted back and forth through the Purple Cloud Palace, making everyone itch to spring into action.

If Dao Ancestor Hongjun had not been standing before them, they likely would have already drawn their weapons and begun fighting.

In the end, that stream of Primordial Violet Qi landed directly atop Red Cloud Ancestor's head and disappeared.

Red Cloud Ancestor could not help smiling. He hurried forward and bowed to Dao Ancestor Hongjun in thanks.

Dao Ancestor Hongjun nodded but did not explain why Red Cloud Ancestor was qualified to receive that Primordial Violet Qi.

He merely said, "Thirty thousand miles from here lies Treasure Distribution Cliff, where the treasures I obtained during my travels through the primordial world are kept.

"Since the Heavenly Dao lacks one and is therefore incomplete, in a thousand years I will merge myself with the Dao to complete the Heavenly Dao.

"These treasures would serve no great use if left behind. Today, I shall distribute them among you. You may obtain them according to your opportunities."

Though they had not received Primordial Violet Qi, everyone was delighted at the prospect of obtaining several Innate Spiritual Treasures.

However, the gates of the Purple Cloud Palace did not open, and everyone looked at Dao Ancestor Hongjun in confusion.

Didn't you tell us to go to Treasure Distribution Cliff to seek treasures? Why are the gates of the Purple Cloud Palace still shut tight?

As everyone puzzled over this, Dao Ancestor Hongjun waved his hand, and a Taiji Diagram appeared in midair.

"Taishang Laozi is my first disciple. Today, I grant him the Innate Supreme Treasure, the Taiji Diagram. This treasure was transformed from the Pangu Axe and may be used to suppress the providence of a great sect."

He waved his hand again, and an ancient banner appeared in midair. "This banner is called the Pangu Banner. Today, I grant it to my second disciple, Yuanshi Tianzun.

"This banner was likewise transformed from the Pangu Axe and may also suppress the providence of your great sect."

Next, four treasured swords and a formation diagram appeared in midair.

Cold light gleamed from the swords, while murderous intent surged from the diagram, sending chills down everyone's spines.

"These are the Immortal Slaughtering Four Swords and the Immortal Slaughtering Formation Diagram, treasures once belonging to Demon Ancestor Luo Hou. They are likewise Innate Supreme Treasures and can form the innate grand formation known as the Immortal Slaughtering Formation.

"When a Saint lays down the Immortal Slaughtering Formation, it cannot be broken without four Saints. Today, I grant them to my third disciple, Tongtian."

Everyone immediately erupted in uproar. The Immortal Slaughtering Formation could not be broken without four Saints—did that not mean Master Tongtian would be invincible?

After all, Dao Ancestor Hongjun had bestowed only seven streams of Primordial Violet Qi in total, and the Three Pure Ones alone possessed three of them.

Though four Saints could barely be gathered, would Taishang Laozi and Yuanshi Tianzun truly stand by and watch as four Saints joined forces to break the Immortal Slaughtering Formation?

Little did they know that several Yuanhuis later, it would indeed be Taishang Laozi and Yuanshi Tianzun, Tongtian's fellow disciples, who brought about the gathering of four Saints to break the Immortal Slaughtering Formation.

Just as everyone was filled with envy, Chen Xuan behind Tongtian spoke.

"Grandmaster, the treasures of Grand Uncle Master and Second Uncle-Master can both suppress the providence of great sects.

"Then can my master's Immortal Slaughtering Four Swords and Immortal Slaughtering Formation Diagram also suppress the providence of a great sect?"

Upon hearing Chen Xuan speak behind him, Tongtian immediately turned and glared at him.

He feared Dao Ancestor Hongjun would take back the Immortal Slaughtering Four Swords and Immortal Slaughtering Formation Diagram and replace them with another treasure.

Yet Chen Xuan seemed not to notice Tongtian's look at all. He remained where he was, waiting for Dao Ancestor Hongjun's answer.

Dao Ancestor Hongjun did not conceal the truth and immediately said, "The Immortal Slaughtering Four Swords are implements of slaughter. Their murderous aura cannot suppress the providence of a great sect."

"Grandmaster, does that mean Master should not establish a great sect in the future?

"After all, without a treasure to suppress a great sect's providence, even if he establishes one, it will collapse and fall apart someday.

"Since it will ultimately all come to nothing, would it not be better to spare himself the trouble?"

Tongtian could no longer endure it and hurriedly said to Dao Ancestor Hongjun, "Master, please punish Chen Xuan for his disrespect. After all, he is only a child and does not understand propriety."

Dao Ancestor Hongjun shook his head. "He is far more sensible than others. At the very least, he knows to ask me for a treasure to suppress his master's providence."
