Background / History

Nvwa and her elder brother Fuxi were among the first beings to sense the birth of the Thirty-Sixth Grade Creation Green Lotus. During the contest for its remnants, she claimed the Nine Heavens Breath Soil that had nurtured it. She briefly considered taking the sentient Profound Origin Water Control Banner, but withdrew when Fuxi warned that doing so would make enemies of the Three Pure Ones and the Western Sages. 1

Dao Ancestor Hongjun later granted Nvwa Primordial Violet Qi, recognizing her great destiny and future path to Sainthood. 25 At her Dao Field, she named a nine-tailed spirit beast Nine Tails and kept it at her side as an auspicious beast. 12

Her relationship with the Demon Race was initially deliberately ambiguous. Di Jun and Eastern Emperor Taiyi ultimately acknowledged her as the Demon Race's ruler and gave her the Demon Summoning Banner. Nvwa accepted it, but protected the essence blood of Demon Race members above the Great Luo Golden Immortal realm and transformed the Purple-Cyan Gourd into the Demon Summoning Gourd to hold the banner. 55

After using the Red Embroidered Ball to officiate Di Jun and Xi He's Heavenly Wedding, Nvwa received Heavenly Dao merit and initially believed the Heaven, Earth, and Human Three Marriages were her route to Sainthood. 59 Her later travels with Fuxi did not reveal the remaining marriages, and witnessing the Witch and Demon races' devastation drove her to reconsider her opportunity. 65 Chen Xuan's attempts to mold Creation Koi helped her realize that her own path lay in creation rather than marriage. 67

With Chen Xuan's Nine Heavens Breath Soil, Three Lights Divine Water, and Innate Gourd Vine, Nvwa created the Human Race in her own and Chen Xuan's images. She imbued the first humans with her essence blood, declared the new race to the Heavenly Dao, and attained Sagehood through the merit of creation. She subsequently established Nvwa Palace beyond the Thirty-Three Heavens. 67 68

Personality

Nvwa is protective of those she considers family or her responsibility. She reacts jealously when Chen Xuan recognizes other “sisters,” yet continues to treat him as a younger brother even after becoming a Sage. 11 80 Her concern for Chen Xuan outweighs even her concern for the Human Race; when he was gravely injured containing Daoist Zhunti's relic explosion, she prioritized taking him to Biyou Palace for treatment. 244

She is also pragmatic and politically adaptable. Rather than reject the Demon Race's authority outright, she accepted its banner while safeguarding elite Demon Race members' essence blood and increasing their reliance on her. 55 In the Nine Hells Underworld, she installed her avatar Meng Po without Lady Pingxin's approval, demonstrating a willingness to act unilaterally when pursuing influence. 109

Nvwa can be defiant when she believes the Great Desolate's future demands it. She knowingly created a waterwheel that converts chaotic energy into Heaven and Earth spiritual energy despite the Heavenly Dao's opposition. 249
