- Liu Qing’s Volcarona overwhelms Tate’s Golduck. It breaks through Confusion with Zen Headbutt, dodges Hydro Pump, then wins a clash of Hydro Pump and Solar Beam. Tate is now down three Pokémon, prompting a five-minute intermission.
- The second half takes place on a Water Field. Tate sends out Venomoth against Volcarona again. After Venomoth disables Zen Headbutt and attempts Stun Spore, Liu Qing counters with Fire Blast, knocking Venomoth out. Volcarona remains undefeated in this stretch.
- In the stands, Han Ye guesses that Liu Qing’s other Pokémon includes Salamence after Liu Yuan hints that one is visible overhead.

- Liu Qing stays composed and adapts quickly, though Destiny Bond catches him too late to save Slowking. He continues to rely on Volcarona and capitalizes decisively on Tate’s tactical mistake.
- Tate shows resourcefulness with Destiny Bond but struggles against Volcarona’s strength and Liu Qing’s counterattacks.
- Liu Yuan proudly supports her brother and playfully teases Han Ye about his Pokémon lineup; Han Ye is curious but recognizes Salamence.

Significant themes
- Risk and sacrifice: Destiny Bond lets Misdreavus trade its defeat for Slowking’s.
- Adaptation and tactical judgment: Liu Qing’s choices exploit Volcarona’s strengths, while Tate’s reliance on a move Volcarona can counter proves costly.
- Power and strategy: The battle emphasizes that type matchups and clever tactics matter, but execution and individual strength can overturn expectations.
