By then, everyone had learned Kaioken. Piccolo could use up to Kaioken x5, and his base power level was 60,000.
Son Goshin's base power level was 30,000, while Son Gohin's was 28,000. Both could use Kaio-ken x3.
Raditz's base power level was 30,000, and he could use Kaio-ken x3.
Nappa's base power level was 15,000, and he could use Kaioken x2.
Tien Shinhan's base power level was 15,000, and he could use Kaioken x2.
Krillin's base power level was 13,000, and he could use Kaioken x2.
Yamcha's base power level was 10,000, and he could use Kaioken x2.
Chiaotzu's base power level was 8,000, and he could use Kaioken x2.
After checking their power levels, Son Goku nodded unconsciously. Training in the Gravity Room had made everyone considerably stronger than they had been in the original story.
Although they would be no help against Frieza, they were more than capable of clearing out his foot soldiers.
"I wonder what Prince Vegeta would think if he saw me now," Raditz said to Nappa.
"I'd like to know how Prince Vegeta would handle me after I activated Kaioken x2," Nappa said.
The two exchanged a look and burst out laughing.
"All right, enough chatter. I'll take everyone there now," Son Goku told them.
Everyone joined hands and formed a circle around Son Goku. He carefully sensed the Grand Elder's energy, then used Instant Transmission.
In the blink of an eye, their surroundings changed. Looking up, they saw an enormous Namekian with an aged face and tightly closed eyes before them.
"Long time no see, Grand Elder," Son Goku greeted the Namekian elder.
The Grand Elder opened his eyes. "Goku, you're here."
"Yes, I'm here. The one who will bring disaster to Planet Namek has arrived too, but don't worry, Grand Elder. With my current strength, dealing with him will be easy," Son Goku said.
"That's good," the Grand Elder said.
Then he noticed Piccolo. He was about to speak when Nail ran in and demanded, "Who are you people?"
"Long time no see, Nail," Son Goku said.
Hearing his voice, Nail turned toward him and finally noticed Son Goku. "You're Son Goku! It's been a few years. You've gotten so tall."
Son Goku smiled. "I've grown up, so naturally I've gotten taller."
"All right, Nail. Whatever you have to say can wait. Let me first take a look at our kinsman who has been living far from home," the Grand Elder told him.
"Yes, Grand Elder," Nail replied.
"You must be our kinsman who has been living away from our world. Whose child are you?" the Grand Elder asked Piccolo.
"I don't know either," Piccolo answered respectfully.
"Come closer, and I'll find out by examining you," the Grand Elder said.
Piccolo stepped forward. The Grand Elder placed his enormous, fanlike hand on Piccolo's head and closed his eyes to examine him.
A moment later, he opened his eyes. "So you're Kardz's child."
Before anyone could ask, the Grand Elder explained, "Kardz was the most gifted child on Planet Namek. When disaster struck our planet all those years ago, he escaped aboard a spaceship."
He then told Piccolo, "Separating your good and evil halves also split your talent in two. If you and your other half could become one again, your talent would be restored, and your strength would increase greatly."
Piccolo knew the Grand Elder meant fusing with Kami, but he worried that his personality would change afterward, so he had no intention of fusing for now.
The Grand Elder placed his hand on Piccolo's head again. "I already know why you've come. I'll unlock your potential now so you can face the approaching crisis."
Piccolo felt energy fill his body. A moment later, the Grand Elder withdrew his hand and said, "You truly are Kardz's child. Your potential really is limitless. Unfortunately, this is as much as I can unlock."
"Thank you, Grand Elder," Piccolo said.
The Grand Elder nodded, then gestured for the next person to approach.
Nail was concerned about the Grand Elder's health. Son Goku stepped forward and handed the Grand Elder three Senzu Beans. "Grand Elder, these are three Senzu Beans. They can restore your stamina."
"All right, Goku. I understand," the Grand Elder said.
Goku nodded, then motioned for everyone to approach one at a time to have their potential unlocked.
Krillin, Tien Shinhan, Son Goshin, Son Gohin, Raditz, Nappa, Chiaotzu, and Yamcha had their potential unlocked in turn. During the process, the Grand Elder used two Senzu Beans.
Once Yamcha's potential had been unlocked, Son Goku sensed everyone's power levels.
Piccolo's power level had increased fivefold to 300,000; Son Goshin's and Son Gohin's had increased tenfold to around 300,000; Raditz's had tripled to 90,000; Nappa's had tripled to 45,000; Tien Shinhan's and Krillin's had both increased fivefold, reaching 75,000 and 65,000 respectively; Yamcha's and Chiaotzu's had quadrupled, reaching 40,000 and 32,000 respectively.
Now they can handle not just Frieza's foot soldiers, but even the Ginyu Force. They just need to watch out for Ginyu's body swap, Son Goku thought.
"Grand Elder, now that you've unlocked their potential, we'll go fight off the invaders," Son Goku said.
"Then I'll leave it in your hands," the Grand Elder said.
"It's what we should do," Son Goku replied.
With that, everyone left the building.
"Frieza's army is invading Planet Namek and stealing the Dragon Balls right now. Go help fight off the invaders and protect the villages. As long as you don't run into Frieza, you'll be fine," Son Goku told them.
Everyone nodded, then split into pairs and flew toward the villages to rescue the Namekians.
Son Goku also set off with Son Gohin in one direction to save a Namekian village.
Meanwhile, Vegeta had barely arrived on Planet Namek when Cui intercepted him.
"Vegeta, you dared to betray King Frieza. Have you decided how you want to die?" Cui asked.
Vegeta sneered. "You could have stayed out of trouble, but you just had to come looking for death. We'll see which of us dies!"
"Stop boasting. Our power levels are about the same. All I have to do is keep you here until King Frieza sends someone, and you're dead," Cui said.
"You'd have to be able to hold me here first," Vegeta replied.
Then Vegeta switched off his Scouter and told Cui, "Open those damn eyes and take a good look at my power level."
Vegeta unleashed all his energy. The Scouter on Cui's face beeped nonstop as its reading shot upward, passing 20,000 in an instant.
Cui broke into a cold sweat and shouted, "Impossible!"
Then, with a bang, his Scouter exploded. At the same time, the Scouter worn by Dodoria, who stood beside Frieza, exploded too.
"Dodoria, what happened?" Frieza asked.
"King Frieza, the Scouter just detected that Vegeta's power level had exceeded 22,000," Dodoria hastily reported.
"That's an old-model Scouter. Let me check with a newer one," Zarbon said from beside him.
He switched on his Scouter. After a few beeps, the reading reached 24,000.
