Background / History
Childhood
Although raised in a wealthy family, Qi Sijing felt increasingly overlooked after his younger sister, Qi Sinian, was born. His family expected him to yield to her because he was the older brother and discouraged interests such as kitten plush toys. He later recalled that adults stopped asking whether he was hurt or tired, instead telling him that he was too grown-up to cry 71.
His friendship with Lin Xingye began with jealousy. Seeing Bo Xi and An Shi enjoy Lin’s company, Qi tried to drive Lin away by placing an iron basin above a door. The prank backfired and injured Qi himself. Lin comforted him and gave him the kitten plush charm from his backpack. Moved by this kindness, Qi proposed a contest whose losing condition would make him Lin’s “little brother”; he later admitted that he lost deliberately to have an excuse to follow Lin around 71.
Qi, Lin, Bo Xi, Cheng Yu, and An Shi became close childhood friends. Rumors that the Lin Family was exploiting these friendships for influence eventually prompted Lin’s parents to avoid business cooperation with the Four Great Families 34.
Qi also befriended Su Chenle, until he overheard Su calling him an obedient “little idiot” and planning to fake an injury to regain Bo Xi and An Shi’s attention. The Su Family abruptly moved abroad before Qi could confront him 63.
Previous Life
In Lin Xingye’s previous life, Qi argued with his grandfather over wanting to marry a man; others assumed he meant Qin Ke. Shortly before Lin’s wedding to Li Hanwen, Qi sent Lin a message asking whether he wanted to leave with him. Lin did not answer in time 20.
On race day, an opponent deliberately rammed Qi’s car and overturned it. Qi nearly died, remained unconscious for a prolonged period, and spent more than half a year hospitalized. His family’s efforts saved his limbs, but he was left with lasting injuries. After rebirth, Lin suspected that Qi’s unanswered message had been an attempt to rescue him from the wedding 20.
Appearance
- Face: Bright, sunny good looks, puppy-like eyes, and naturally upturned lips that make him seem perpetually smiling 5.
- Build: Tall and muscular, with visibly defined muscles and considerable physical strength 9 21 49.
- Everyday presentation: His youthful face contrasts with expensive, crisp suits; without formal clothing, he could pass for an ordinary male college student 5 49.
- Racing attire: A fitted scarlet racing suit emphasizes his height and muscular frame 21.
- Dating style: Dresses flamboyantly when meeting Lin and takes particular care over grooming, including a haircut, facial, and workout before visiting him at a resort 109 111.
Personality
Qi Sijing is lively, unpredictable, and more capable than his approachable appearance suggests. His reputation rests partly on making unexpected decisions that produce spectacular victories even when a mistake could cost him everything 5.
He expresses affection through teasing, clinginess, and conspicuous displays of attention. His rivalry with Bo Xi and Cheng Yu frequently becomes childish bickering over Lin Xingye’s company. Beneath that confidence lies an old fear of being excluded or losing affection, which he explicitly connects to his childhood treatment of Lin 51 52 71 109.
His early behavior toward Lin crosses clear boundaries: he pins Lin down and kisses him despite an explicit refusal, prompting Bo Xi to warn him not to force Lin. Later scenes show him asking permission to kiss Lin and releasing him when his struggles might aggravate an injury 8 9 30 31.
Qi is fiercely partisan toward the people he loves. He refuses his grandfather’s attempt to redirect his affection toward Lin Xingmo, defends Lin against his sister’s insults, and urges An Shi to stop preserving ties with relatives who mistreat him. An Shi describes him as someone who loves and hates without reservation and openly favors those he cares about 34 42 103.
The racing crash exposes his emotional vulnerability. He cries over nearly losing Lin and begs him never to risk himself that way again. This fear persists into their later relationship, when he steers Lin away from extreme amusement-park rides because of the earlier cliff-fall incident 26 110.
