Background / History
Modern life
Yunjian came from a wealthy modern family, with substantial resources from her father’s business and her maternal grandfather’s family. Despite that privilege, she remembered a painful childhood and spoke contemptuously of her father. Her experiences with her stepsister and other relatives also made her familiar with manipulation within wealthy households 31 32 136 159.
She attended university with Wenren Luoshui and Sun Aidi. After Yunjian caught Sun secretly using her roommates’ sunscreen, she offered to let her keep it rather than argue. Sun subsequently circulated misleading photographs and anonymous claims portraying Yunjian as a married man’s mistress. Yunjian gathered evidence and pursued legal action; the university’s student council traced the posts to Sun 157.
Sun later encouraged her boyfriend to retaliate against the roommates. He broke into their dormitory, stabbed their beds, and stole valuable belongings. Zhao Xueqi’s hidden camera recorded the burglary, and Yunjian refused a private settlement. Her stolen possessions included a bracelet worth over one hundred thousand and five watches worth more than one million in total, contributing to the thief’s lengthy prison sentence 159.
Apocalypse and death
During the apocalypse, Yunjian bonded with the Taobao System. She and Luoshui reproduced medicinal wine for their own use and sale, and much of the grain Yunjian exchanged was supplied to the authorities. Although their resources could have supported them without fighting monsters, both joined official organizations: Yunjian entered a research institute, while Luoshui joined a rescue team 14 37.
Yunjian led a team that developed waterless cultivation technology and researched an improved potato variety suited to the apocalypse’s abnormal environment. The potatoes had a shorter growing cycle and could yield three times as much as ordinary potatoes 18 21.
While Luoshui was away on a mission, Yunjian was assigned to transport supplies to Lotus City with several teams. A zombie horde attacked on the return journey, killing everyone in her squad. She next awoke in a horse-drawn carriage in another era 15.
Transmigration into the Yun family
Yunjian entered the body of Minister Yun’s youngest daughter and retained her Taobao System. Bandits attacked her while she was traveling toward Jingxin Nunnery, but she escaped using a stun baton and chili powder. Luoshui found her near the foot of a mountain, immobilized her pursuers with leaves, and reunited with her 14.
During their conversation afterward, Yunjian absorbed the original owner’s memories. She was puzzled that Luoshui had been reborn as an infant more than ten years earlier, despite their apparently dying around the same time in the apocalypse. The original Yunjian had rarely left home, leaving her inherited memories of people outside the immediate household unusually limited 15 46.
Appearance
Yunjian has round, dark eyes, described both as clear black-and-white eyes and as resembling grapes 15 66 136.
- Complexion: Originally fair; her cheeks became darker after repeated visits to rice fields 19.
- Voice: Soft and sweet, compared to maltose and a lark’s song 46 136.
- Fieldwear: Uses a lotus leaf as a sunshade while working with crops 66.
- Sixties-era appearance: After Luoshui magically altered her age and others’ memories, she appeared about fifteen or sixteen, with a long braid and fashionable polyester clothing 189.
Personality
Yunjian is cheerful, candid, and affectionate with people she trusts. Her reunion with Luoshui brings an exuberant embrace, and their friendship retains the teasing familiarity of their previous life. She enjoys gossip and public spectacles, often exchanging irreverent commentary with Luoshui through their thoughts 14 15 74 80.
Her easygoing manner does not prevent confrontation. Having lived through the apocalypse, she shares Luoshui’s tendency to use her fists rather than argue when necessary. She bluntly challenges manipulative relatives, biased officials, and people who mistreat her friends 23 85 90 143 195.
She is especially protective of vulnerable children. Yun Fei’s rejection by her mother recalls Yunjian’s own childhood, prompting her to offer both reassurance and practical support. The murder of a five-year-old girl brings out cold, fierce anger rather than her usual playful disposition 31 48.
As a researcher, Yunjian sets demanding standards. Even a potato harvest of ten thousand jin per mu disappoints her because it reaches only twice the ordinary yield rather than the threefold increase she expected. She suspects the soil or cultivation management and remains determined to improve the result 33.
Her confidence becomes bashfulness around Sui Yun. She openly admits finding him attractive and privately entertains bold fantasies, yet panics after accidentally confessing her feelings to him. As their relationship matures, she remains affectionate while setting her own timetable for marriage 46 47 48 151 201.

Thought Communication
Yunjian communicates mentally with Luoshui and participates in conversations with Luoshui’s Salty Fish System 24 29 31.

- Sixties-era effect: After the curse transports the women to another setting, everyone nearby can hear their thoughts 162.
Self-Defense and Accountability
Yunjian relies on quick judgment, improvised tools, and evidence rather than a documented cultivation technique 14 157 159.
- Incapacitates a captor with a stun baton, blinds other bandits with chili powder, and runs rather than attempting to defeat the entire group 14.
- Pursues legal consequences for slander and burglary in her modern life 157 159.
- Challenges Magistrate Jiang’s unsupported accusations against Wang Xiaohong 85.
