Background / History

Early life and Nuoding Academy

Xiao Wu’s mother left her a handmade Red Sandalwood Comb and advice about entrusting her hair to someone she truly loved. Before arriving at Nuoding, Xiao Wu traveled from a distant place and encountered hardships that she later shares with Tang San 16.

On enrollment day, she defeats the boys in the mixed work-study dormitory and becomes the boss of Dorm Seven. Li Hanqiu then transfers her to Girls’ Dormitory Building One, where she welcomes Tang San as her roommate. She has already cleaned Tang San’s bed and quickly makes herself comfortable under the new quilt 4.

Older students later mock her poverty and question why a work-study student lives in Building One. Tang San returns with a first soul ring and defeats them before Xiao Wu can fight. Impressed by Tang San’s rapid improvement, she seeks out Li, kneels, and bows three times to become his second disciple 6 7 9.

Holy Soul Village and foundational training

After a year under Li’s supervision, Xiao Wu insists on accompanying Tang San home for summer vacation. Before they leave, Li gives her a Shadow Concealment Pill to hide her hundred-thousand-year soul-beast aura, anticipating the danger of encountering Tang Hao 13.

They find Tang San’s home abandoned. Xiao Wu comforts Tang San with her mother’s comb and reminds her that she still has Xiao Wu and their teacher as family. On the village hill, Tang San calls her “Sister Xiao Wu,” and they promise to protect one another. Xiao Wu also asks whether Tang San would defend her if many people wanted her dead; Tang San answers without hesitation 16.

Back at Nuoding, Li begins teaching self-created soul skills. He identifies Xiao Wu’s poor balance when impatient and makes her practice a horse stance before moving on to more advanced techniques. Five years of training culminate in a joint assessment after she and Tang San obtain their third rings 17 18.

Suotuo City and Shrek Academy

In Suotuo City, Xiao Wu enthusiastically samples snacks and persuades Tang San to enter the Rose Hotel. Her careless remark that Li is buying whale rubber contributes to Dai Mubai’s mistaken belief that he intends to harm his students. Xiao Wu initially encourages Tang San’s ensuing fight, but urges her to stop when the attack becomes potentially lethal 21 22.

At Shrek’s practical assessment, she fights alongside Tang San, Zhu Zhuqing, and Ning Rongrong against Zhao Wuji. Her chained kicks provide the team’s main direct offense. When Zhao’s provocation sends Tang San into another uncontrolled outburst, Xiao Wu recognizes the danger and rushes forward to shield her from his retaliatory palm; Li intervenes first 29 30.

She later partners with Tang San at the Great Soul Arena. Their combination of battlefield control and close-range attacks defeats two level-40 Soul Ancestors in fewer than twenty exchanges. As Li’s disciple group expands, he entrusts Xiao Wu and Tang San with teaching Dai Mubai and Zhu Zhuqing the basics of soul marks 39 43.

All Living Beings Secret Realm

Inside the secret realm, Xiao Wu pretends to flee from pursuers, then turns and kills them with Soft Bone Continuous Steps. She reunites with Tang San and Zhu Zhuqing to seek concentrated All Living Beings Qi. Later, she and Tang San help Shui Bing’er and Ye Lingling escape cultivators trying to seize their dragon tooth grass 63 64.

The realm’s public broadcast shows her defeating a larger opponent and his giant-lizard mount with three increasingly powerful kicks, drawing attention to Shrek Academy’s students 65.

While Tang San explores a secluded valley, Xiao Wu waits outside as lookout. Tang Ao ambushes her and wounds her left shoulder. Tang San bandages the injury, defeats Tang Ao, and kills him after learning that he is Tang Hao’s adopted son. Xiao Wu checks on Tang San afterward, and they leave together to rejoin their companions 67 68 69.

Xiao Wu reunites with the other disciples and escapes before the realm closes, returning with the group’s gathered treasures and qi 73.

Appearance

  • Rabbit ears distinguish her human-form appearance 9.
  • Long hair worn in a scorpion braid swings prominently when she leaps or runs 4 17.
  • Bright, expressive eyes accompany her eager, energetic manner 4 9.
  • Slender, supple legs deliver unexpectedly powerful strikes 18.

Personality

Xiao Wu is outgoing, physically affectionate, and quick to tease. She welcomes Tang San by pulling her into the room, insists on sharing the soft new quilt, and playfully claims seniority despite joining Li’s disciples later. Her enthusiasm also makes her impatient: she interrupts Tang San’s practice while waiting for her own instruction and hopes self-created techniques might replace routine cultivation 4 9 17.

Her playfulness coexists with fierce loyalty and tenderness. She angrily rejects accusations that Tang San uses evil arts, defends Li against Dai Mubai’s suspicions, and uses a cherished keepsake to comfort Tang San after parental abandonment. Although quick-tempered herself, she recognizes when Tang San’s anger becomes dangerous and tries to restrain or protect her 10 16 22 25 30.

She enjoys food and mischief, lingering at snack stalls and using feigned retreat to bait enemies. She can also acknowledge fault: after overpowering Dai Mubai in a spar, she apologizes for kicking too hard 21 45 63.

Abilities & Skills

Soft Bone Rabbit Martial Soul

Her martial soul grants exceptional resilience and supports a close-range, power-attack fighting style 18 28.

  • Combines flexible waist movement, strong legs, kicks, and locking techniques 17 18.
  • Can recover her balance after unstable footing, though impatience undermines her stance 17 18.
  • Works effectively with Tang San’s restraints, allowing her to attack controlled targets 29 39.

First Soul Skill: Waist Bow

Xiao Wu drives power through her waist and abdomen, drawing her body taut like a bow before delivering a forceful strike 18.

  • Uses a whipping kick aimed at Li Hanqiu’s neck during their assessment 18.
  • Can follow Teleportation for a sudden close-range attack, but Li criticizes the rough transition between the skills 18.

Second Soul Skill: Soft Bone Continuous Steps

An explosive attack skill that delivers multiple consecutive kicks, each heavier than the last 18.

  • Three chained kicks force Zhao Wuji to dodge during Shrek’s assessment 29.
  • Kills three pursuers after she tricks them into chasing her 63.
  • Defeats a mounted opponent in the secret realm’s broadcast 65.
  • Li identifies her rigid attack rhythm as a weakness and advises using later kicks to disengage when the first fails 19.
  • Develops under Li’s emphasis on direct offense, replacing Charm, the second skill associated with the original-story Xiao Wu in his recollection 18.

Third Soul Skill: Teleportation

Her third-ring skill instantly repositions her for surprise attacks and evasive movement 18.

  • Appears above or behind an opponent to launch kicks and holds 18.
  • Repeated use supports rapid changes of attack angle 18.
  • Predictable arrival points allow experienced opponents to anticipate her 19.
  • Li’s Radiant Dragon Domain suppresses her movement, making each step consume twice as much soul power 19.

Self-Created Soul Skill: Mitu Shockwave

Xiao Wu forms a pinkish-white sphere of light between her palms, shaping it into a small rabbit whose heat visibly distorts the air 19.

  • Releases an explosive attack during the joint spar with Li 19.
  • Fails to penetrate his Holy Radiance Dragon Armor 19.

Soul Mark Cultivation

Xiao Wu learns Li’s exclusive soul-mark technique and later helps teach its basics to newer disciples 43.

  • The method stores reserve soul power, refines control, and accelerates mastery of soul skills 10.
  • Has mastered her soul-mark technique by the time Li unveils the secret realm 53.
  • Makes little progress with the separate Martial Soul Avatar Armor technique during the same period 53.

Equipment / Items

  • Her mother — Deceased parent whose handmade comb and advice remain deeply meaningful to her 16.
  • Zhu Zhuqing — Fellow disciple and secret-realm companion. Xiao Wu is immediately curious about her cat martial soul and is disappointed when she leaves to search for Dai Mubai 28 63 64.
