Background
Li Hanqiu accidentally transmigrated from Blue Star. Until his martial soul awakened at six, he believed he had arrived in an impoverished region of an unknown dynasty. Awakening Luo Sanpao initially made him suspect that he was Yu Xiaogang, but his appearance, innate soul power, and martial soul differed sharply from the version he remembered 1.
He instead recognized a resemblance to the manga’s Grandmaster. By nineteen, he had worked as Nuoding Academy’s theory lecturer for two years and reached level 32, substantially surpassing the older Yu Xiaogang. Their similar external martial souls made that disparity a persistent source of resentment 1 2.
His foreknowledge proved unreliable when Tang San arrived as a girl with only Blue Silver Grass and no Clear Sky Hammer. He initially sought her partly to understand his own cultivation bottleneck, but ultimately chose to accept her without requiring hidden talent or personal benefit 1 3.
Appearance
Li Hanqiu is pale-skinned, handsome, and initially marked by a melancholy, solitary air. After years of cultivation, his appearance becomes more refined and his gaze increasingly serene 1 18 44.
- Build: Tall and straight-backed, standing noticeably above Yu Xiaogang 8 44.
- Clothing: Frequently wears blue or blue-green robes; his training robe is described as washed almost white after five years 15 17 18.
- Soul mark: A golden pattern depicting Luo Sanpao appears near his collarbone 9 15.
- Combat manifestation: Golden dragon pupils briefly appear when he draws on Luo Sanpao’s physical strength through Radiant Dragon Domain 19.
Personality
Although students consider him aloof, Li Hanqiu is respected as an effective teacher. His care is practical: he buys Tang San properly fitting clothes and bedding, arranges safer accommodation, supervises physical conditioning, and protects Xiao Wu’s concealed identity 1 4 13.
He favors preparation over rapid advancement. He delays both his disciples’ cultivation and his own ring acquisition when stronger foundations or better compatibility will produce greater long-term benefits. His lessons are informal and often playful, but his standards for training remain strict 13 14 17 34.
His protectiveness has a harsh edge. He initially answers hostility with mockery, wagers, and public pressure, but poisoning Ning Rongrong turns his feud with Yu Xiaogang into a lethal conflict. He kills the hired assassins and later Tang Hao, treating threats to his disciples as personal grievances 8 12 49 51 77.
Li is also calculating. He deliberately ends Zhu Zhuqing’s instruction early to encourage her to seek him out, accepts politically useful rumors about sect backing, and secretly manipulates the secret realm’s tournament draw 35 65 76. His perception is imperfect: he repeatedly mistakes Tang San’s outward obedience and remorse for genuine emotional recovery, remaining unaware of her concealed possessiveness 17 24 25 36.
Abilities & Skills
Holy Light Ao
- Originally manifests as a small puppy with fluffy golden fur, gentle black eyes, and a pink nose rather than Yu Xiaogang’s purple Luo Sanpao 1.
- The system removes its genetic limiter when Tang San becomes Li’s disciple, enabling its Radiant Sacred Dragon development 3.
- After five years, it is nearly two meters long, with golden scales, powerful limbs, a dragon tail, and small forehead protrusions 18.
- Receives the name Holy Light Ao at Tang San’s suggestion, with Li and the dragon’s approval 19.
- As an external martial soul, it initially leaves Li’s body without the physique and protection provided by Martial Soul Possession. His fourth and fifth skills progressively overcome this vulnerability 14 19.
First Soul Skill: Thunderlight Fang
- Fires golden lightning from Luo Sanpao’s mouth, producing explosive damage and a numbing or paralyzing effect 5.
- Obtained from a 600-year Dawnlight Thunder Lizard, chosen for its yang-lightning attribute and lesser-dragon bloodline 5.
- Can be combined with Holy Light Breath in coordinated attacks by Li and Holy Light Ao 32.
Second Soul Skill: Holy Light Breath
- Combines attack, purification, and restraint; its holy light scorches evil entities and briefly prevents targets from moving 6 14.
- Obtained from an 890-year Holy Radiance White Lizard Dragon 14.
- Used to restrain Tang San’s first-ring target and later burn away the Blue Silver Grass bindings threatening Dai Mubai 6 24.
Third Soul Skill: Radiant Dragon Skimming the Sky
- Activates Luo Sanpao’s dormant dragon bloodline, producing gilded wings of light and a high-speed charge 14.
- Enables short-distance flight and conceals the martial soul through distorted light and shadow 14.
- Ends with an explosive release of holy-light dragon power upon impact 14.
- Obtained from a 2,800-year Brightlight Winged Dragon 14.
Fourth Soul Skill: Holy Radiance Dragon Armor
- Obtained from an 11,000-year Light-Scaled Radiant Armor Dragon, exceeding the usual thousand-year fourth-ring limit 19.
- Covers both Holy Light Ao and Li himself in dragon-scale armor, greatly increasing physical and soul-power defense 19.
- Purifies negative conditions and reflects 20% of an attack’s impact toward the attacker 19.
- Increases light and lightning damage by 35% while active 19.
- Its strength improves as the martial soul’s bloodline develops 19.
Fifth Soul Skill: Radiant Dragon Domain
- Creates a domain of intertwined light and lightning that suppresses enemies’ strength, soul skills, and spiritual power 19.
- Increases Li’s light and lightning power by 50% and continuously purifies evil influences and negative conditions 19.
- Gives Li physical strength equal to his martial soul and lets him independently use its soul skills, allowing master and dragon to attack together 19.
- Suppresses Zhao Wuji’s martial soul and makes drawing on soul power substantially harder during their duel 32.
Sixth Soul Skill: Holy Dragon Judgment
- Forms a spear of lightning and holy light that cannot miss and ignores defenses 51.
- Granted by his exceptionally compatible 89,000-year sixth ring 50.
- Annihilates three hired assassins—one Soul Saint and two Soul Emperors—in a single use 50 51.
Seventh Soul Skills
His hundred-thousand-year seventh ring grants two skills rather than only a conventional Martial Soul Avatar 74.
| Skill | Effects and limits |
|---|---|
| Sacred Dragon Avatar | Merges Li and Holy Light Ao into a roughly 300-meter-tall dragonkin manifestation, far larger than ordinary avatars 74. |
| Sacred Dragon World-Subduing Divine Spear | Transforms Holy Light Ao into an eighteen-foot crimson-gold spear with dragon-scale patterns, winglike features, and lightning arcs. It is a weapon form of his martial soul and can remain active indefinitely 74. |
Soul Mark Cultivation Method
- Stores accumulated soul power as an emergency reserve; losses during storage limit how much can be added at a time 10.
- Refines soul-power control through repeated circulation. Li reports an improvement of more than 10% during his initial study 10.
- Reduces resistance when activating soul skills, shortening the practice required to master newly acquired abilities 10.
- Li initially promises to teach Tang San and Xiao Wu after they reach level 20; later, they teach its basics to newer disciples 9 43.
- He expends his entire stored reserve to purge Ning Rongrong’s poison rather than preserve it for combat 48.
Martial Soul Avatar Armor
- A system-granted secret art obtained after accepting Dai Mubai 41.
- Requires compressing soul power into sheets and interlocking them without gaps. Early attempts produce only half a vambrace despite more than twenty tries 44.
- During the assassins’ ambush, Li realizes that he can combine the art with Holy Radiance Dragon Armor 50.
- The resulting Sacred Dragon Heavenly Armor grants sixteenfold enhancement to all attributes and ninefold enhancement to light and lightning skills in his armored avatar form 74.
- Its immense consumption limits that form to approximately half an hour, even with his level-76 reserves 74.
Teaching and Soul-Power Control
- Selects rings according to the individual’s constitution, the ring’s age, bloodline, attributes, and compatibility rather than rigid universal limits 5 17.
- Designs Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass progression around vitality, absorption, conversion, and flexible binding techniques 6 17.
- Uses whale-rubber baths and delayed advancement to strengthen bodies and concentrate soul power before higher-level cultivation 13.
- Tailors physical instruction to each student, including Xiao Wu’s balance training and Zhu Zhuqing’s posture, footwork, and concentrated strikes 17 35.
- Precisely extracts some of Ma Hongjun’s phoenix evil fire and prescribes a fire-element diet intended to develop true phoenix fire and evolve the martial soul 43.
- Gains multitasking as a system reward for accepting Ning Rongrong 48.
All Living Beings Secret Realm and Seal
- Owns a separate, cultivable world containing unusual beasts, treasures, and all living beings qi 53.
- The qi can loosen bottlenecks, strengthen cultivation foundations, and potentially repair or evolve martial souls 53.
- The realm grows by absorbing the bodies, soul power, and martial-soul power of powerful or gifted Soul Masters who die inside 53.
- Its Seal opens and closes the realm and becomes more powerful near it. Li must personally enter to retrieve its contents, and his cultivation initially prevents full control 58.
- Returns three times the resources gained by his disciples inside the realm, directly contributing to his Soul Saint breakthrough 58 74.
- Its strongest powers consume the realm’s reserves and impose a long cooldown. Li distinguishes this borrowed authority from his own body’s combat strength 58 60.
- Enables remote announcements, a public sky-screen broadcast, and manipulation of arena matchups. He closes the broadcast to conserve energy before fighting the Titled Douluos 59 65 76.
Netherworld Eyes
- A dark-violet ocular ability used to see through the night and survey the gathered Titled Douluos near the realm. Its origin and further capabilities are not specified 58.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Radiant Dragon Emperor Right-Arm Bone — A system reward aged 99,000 years. Its Dragon Emperor Sky-Rending Claw carries defense-ignoring spatial cutting power and opens a brief rift for short-range spatial displacement; immense soul-power consumption prevents frequent use 53.
- Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridges — Yu Xiaogang’s storage soul tool, taken as compensation. Tang San and Xiao Wu reject the dirty belt, leaving Li to keep it and joke about selling it 12.
- Shadow Concealment Pill — Received upon accepting Xiao Wu and later given to her to conceal her hundred-thousand-year soul-beast aura 9 13.
- White Jade Green Lotus Dew — Reward for accepting Dai Mubai; described as neutralizing a hundred poisons, regenerating flesh, and invigorating blood 41.
- Whale rubber — Used to prepare his body for his unusually old first ring and later incorporated into his disciples’ conditioning baths 5 13.
- Soul-beast hide armor — Research material for developing Martial Soul Avatar Armor. Yu Xiaogang contaminates the shipment with Soul-Eating Powder, poisoning Ning Rongrong 48 49.
Relationships
Disciples
- Tang San — First disciple. Li accepts her despite her lack of a second martial soul, builds a vitality-based cultivation path for her, and becomes the focus of her concealed obsessive attachment. He later kills Tang Hao in fulfillment of his promise to seek justice for her 3 17 25 77.
- Xiao Wu — Second disciple. Seeks him out after seeing Tang San’s progress; Li protects her soul-beast identity and trains her explosive movement, balance, and technique 9 13 17.
- Zhu Zhuqing — Third disciple. His practical agility instruction wins her trust. He mistakenly believes Tang San helped persuade her to seek discipleship and intervenes when her first arena opponent endangers her 35 36 39.
- Dai Mubai — Fourth disciple. Initially regards Li as predatory and distrusts his attention to the students. Li’s care for Zhu Zhuqing and understanding of Dai’s background eventually bring an apology and a request for discipleship 25 38 41 42.
- Ma Hongjun — Joins alongside Oscar after Li diagnoses phoenix evil fire as the cause of uncontrolled hunger and offers a path toward martial-soul improvement 43.
- Oscar — Joins alongside Ma Hongjun. Li counters Oscar’s insecurity by affirming the importance of support soul masters and the rarity of the God of Food martial soul 43.
- Ning Rongrong — Last of the seven to join. Li challenges her entitlement without dismissing her talent; after he saves her from poisoning, she apologizes sincerely and requests discipleship 47 48.
