Background / History

Tang San originates outside Douluo Star. According to the system, his arrival was not part of the world's original future and split its worldline into hundreds of millions of branches, encompassing different versions of his life and death 2.

In his previous life, he was an orphan raised by the Tang Sect. He secretly learned its advanced internal cultivation method and hidden-weapon teachings. Despite the sect's care, he longed for a family and a father's affection 75.

In the younger-brother mission world, Tang San grows up in Tang Hao's blacksmith shop in Holy Soul Village. Tang Hao largely abandons responsibility for his sons by the time they are three. Tang San cooks porridge and secretly cultivates on a distant hill before dawn, keeping the Tang Sect Secret Arts hidden even from his younger brother 72.

Revealing the Clear Sky Hammer changes his home life. Tang Hao regains hope of taking revenge on Spirit Hall, resumes blacksmithing work, and provides enough food for both boys to become healthier. Tang San embraces the renewed paternal attention 74 75.

Appearance

Tang San's appearance differs sharply between mission worlds and cultivation stages 72 89.

  • Early childhood: Thin and frail from poor nutrition in Holy Soul Village 72.
  • Second martial soul: A silver Clear Sky Hammer, contrasting with Huo Yuhao's golden-blue Clear Sky Eye Hammer 78.
  • After bloodline awakening: Becomes increasingly feminine and closely resembles Ah Yin; by twelve, the younger-brother-world counterpart is described as looking identical to her 89.
  • Later martial soul coloration: His Blue Silver Grass turns almost entirely crimson as his behavior becomes more violent 89.

Personality

Tang San is disciplined and secretive about his cultivation. In the first mission world, he cares little about which academy he attends as long as he can practice Mysterious Heaven Skill, craft hidden weapons, and receive help obtaining soul rings. In the younger-brother world, he conceals his inherited techniques for six years and resolves to kill Huo Yuhao once an emergency exposes them 26 72 82.

He places strong emotional importance on fatherhood and mentorship. Tang Hao's renewed affection makes him openly tearful, while he treats accepting Yu Xiaogang as a disciple as equivalent to acquiring another father. His devotion also makes him hostile toward criticism of Yu Xiaogang 75 77 81.

His protective loyalty and possessiveness vary by counterpart. The first mission-world Tang San attacks a vastly stronger opponent to defend Xiao Wu. The younger-brother-world counterpart instead becomes jealous of her attachment to Huo Yuhao and imagines killing him to take her for himself. His initial hostility toward Huo Yuhao is explicitly imposed by the system to prevent familial attachment from undermining its missions 26 77 81.

The original-world god is portrayed as calculating and unwilling to surrender authority. He plans to control Douluo Star through its child of destiny and refuses Ma Hongjun a Divine Realm place for Bai Chenxiang despite having places available 35 199 200.

Abilities & Skills

Twin Martial Souls

  • Blue Silver Grass: Inherited from Ah Yin; its underlying Blue Silver Emperor heritage gives it greater potential than ordinary Blue Silver Grass 78 139.
  • Clear Sky Hammer: Revealed privately to Tang Hao after awakening. Yu Xiaogang keeps it concealed to avoid exposing the family to Spirit Hall 74 78.
  • Early cultivation restriction: In the younger-brother world, he cultivates Blue Silver Grass first because openly using the Clear Sky Hammer would reveal his background 78 80.

Blue Silver Entanglement

  • His first soul skill in the younger-brother world, acquired from the Mandala Snake ring 85 87.
  • Activates faster than Huo Yuhao's manually controlled grass, but loses their direct clash against grass strengthened by an Iron Tree ring 87.
  • Becomes much stronger after the Blue Silver Emperor bone purifies his martial soul 93.

Mysterious Heaven Skill

  • Forms the foundation of his cultivation alongside hidden-weapon manufacture 26.
  • Supplies a continuously renewing flow of internal power during combat 87.
  • Allows him to shift his tendons and dislocate bones in an emergency evasion, though this fails to prevent serious injury from Fist One 87.
  • Huo Yuhao identifies its complete form as capable of developing innate soul power, citing Tang San's assistance to the initially powerless Jixiang. He distinguishes this from the weaker meditation method later passed down by the Tang Sect 72.

Tang Sect Movement and Control Arts

  • Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track: Used to evade Fist One, escape domain pressure with Xiao Wu, and attempt flight after Tang Hao's death 27 28 85 87.
  • Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon: A force-redirection technique that Tang San hopes to use in close combat, described as deflecting a thousand pounds with four ounces 87.
  • Limit: His movement techniques cannot overcome Huo Yuhao's overwhelming spiritual power in the first mission world's final pursuit 28.

Purple Demon Eye

  • Concentrates his spiritual power and precision for a difficult poisoned Sleeve Arrow shot 87.
  • Used to investigate Tang Hao's arrival after his father interrupts Huo Yuhao's attack 88.

Hidden Weapons and Poisons

  • Crafts Tang Sect hidden weapons, beginning with the Silent Sleeve Arrow in the younger-brother world 75.
  • Uses concealed projectiles, crossbow bolts, and poisoned arrows against opponents 26 87.
  • Can apply hidden-weapon throwing techniques to improvised ammunition, including white radishes 87.
  • Limits: Huo Yuhao blows away his barrages in the first mission world; spiritual perception defeats his attempted blind-spot shot in the younger-brother world 26 87.

Divine Power

  • Holds both the Sea God and Asura God godhoods 37.
  • Uses his divine soul to search Huo Yun'er's soul for information 35.
  • Possesses a divine body described as indestructible and fixed after ascension 95.
  • System vulnerability: The system states that killing alternate Tang Sans removes portions of the original Tang San's divine power and life force 37.
  • Early limitation: In the dream-reconstructed period soon after ascension, his divine power remains weak despite possessing Asura Godhood; the Silver Dragon King can easily conceal herself from him 196.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Sea God Trident — The central artifact of his Sea God inheritance. It contains half of that godhood's power of faith; mastering it precedes obtaining the complete inheritance 199.
  • Silent Sleeve Arrow — An early crafted hidden weapon. During the fight with Huo Yuhao and Fist One, he begins with three arrows and uses poison-coated ammunition 75 87.
  • Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridges — A storage soul tool gifted by Yu Xiaogang in the younger-brother world 81 87.
  • Blue Silver Emperor right leg bone — Ah Yin's hundred-thousand-year soul bone. The younger-brother counterpart absorbs it for treatment and bloodline awakening; in the first mission world, Huo Yuhao steals it while Tang San is still an infant 10 89.

Relationships

  • Tang Hao — Father and principal protector. Saves him from Huo Yuhao in both mission worlds. In the younger-brother world, later sexual abuse destroys Tang San's filial attachment and leaves him determined to kill his father 27 88 89.
  • Ah Yin — Mother and the hundred-thousand-year Blue Silver Emperor. Her inherited bloodline and right leg bone profoundly affect his martial soul and appearance 78 89.
  • Huo Yuhao / Tang Yuhao — Enemy across timelines and younger brother in one mission world. Born one minute after Tang San in that world; their conflict culminates in Tang San's death 72 85 94.
  • Xiao Wu — Protected as his little sister in the first mission world and married to him in the original world. The younger-brother-world Xiao Wu instead feels immediate aversion toward him. Original-world Xiao Wu later separates from him without ending their marriage 26 79 112 225.
  • Yu Xiaogang — Revered teacher whom Tang San calls a father. Tang San vows revenge after finding him dead in the younger-brother world. A later historical reconstruction notes that Yu Xiaogang accompanied him from childhood to godhood but did not receive a Divine Realm place 77 82 200.
  • Old Jack — Holy Soul Village chief who supports his education and seeks an additional work-study quota when both brothers awaken soul power 72 74.
  • Rong Nianbing — Target of Tang San's plan to have the child of destiny inherit a divine position and remain under his control 35 199.
  • Ma Hongjun — Companion whose repeated requests to bring Bai Chenxiang into the Divine Realm Tang San refuses, claiming to have exhausted his places on his parents 200.
  • Bai Chenxiang — Cousin and Ma Hongjun's wife; denied a Divine Realm place despite Tang San retaining four unused places 200.
  • God of Destruction — Divine Realm rival whose scrutiny prevents Tang San from openly violating the laws protecting Xiao Wu's marital autonomy 112.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Target of the Three Harms System

The system identifies Tang San as its primary target, with Tang Hao and Yu Xiaogang included alongside him. Its agreement with Douluo Star's plane will is to purge parallel worlds containing Tang San. Huo Yuhao's repeated missions also offer a means of weakening the original-world god before confronting him directly 2 28 37.

First Mission World: Protection and Defeat

As an infant, Tang San survives Ah Yin's sacrifice and Tang Hao's retreat from Spirit Hall. Huo Yuhao then ambushes his injured father and obtains Ah Yin's soul bone by threatening the family's survival 9 10.

Thirteen years later, Tang San attends Suotuo Advanced Soul Master Academy with Xiao Wu. He repeatedly attacks Huo Yuhao when Xiao Wu is seized, prompting a lethal response. Tang Hao intervenes and reveals his Titled Douluo strength to his astonished son 26 27.

After Huo Yuhao kills Tang Hao, Tang San attempts to flee with Xiao Wu. Huo Yuhao immobilizes him and crushes him to death with spiritual power 28.

Younger-Brother World: Rivalry and Clear Sky Sect

Tang San and Huo Yuhao enter Nuoding Academy and become Yu Xiaogang's disciples. Rivalry intensifies over the teacher's attention, Xiao Wu's preference for Huo Yuhao, and Tang San's insistence on protecting his secret techniques 76 77 78 79 81.

Following Yu Xiaogang's death, Tang San attacks Huo Yuhao in the Soul Hunting Forest. His grass loses their direct contest, his poisoned arrow misses, and Fist One accidentally castrates him during an attempted evasion. He pleads for his life before Tang Hao arrives to stop Huo Yuhao 82 85 87 88.

Tang Hao takes him to the Clear Sky Sect and treats him with Ah Yin's soul bone. Over the next six years, his bloodline awakening makes him resemble his mother. Tang Hao subsequently sexually abuses him, after which Tang San develops hatred toward both his father and Huo Yuhao and commits acts of torture and murder that Tang Hao conceals 89.

Huo Yuhao's mechanical army later besieges the sect. After Tang Hao is killed, Tang San curses Huo Yuhao, coughs up blood, and dies as Huo Yuhao approaches with a sword 90 93 94.

Original World: Control of Destiny and Divine Realm Conflict

Tang San waits tens of thousands of years for Douluo Star's Plane Master to produce a child of destiny. His plan is to seize the world's power of destiny, install Tang Hao as Plane Master, and bind the child of destiny through Rong Nianbing's divine inheritance. He retrieves Huo Yun'er's soul as part of that manipulation, but after his memories are erased, finds it apparently unrelated to his target 35.

Meanwhile, Huo Yuhao uses Dream Entry to reach Xiao Wu in the Divine Realm. She eventually stops paying attention to Tang San and lives separately from him. Divine Realm marriage laws and the God of Destruction's scrutiny constrain his response 97 98 112.

The supplied later storyline still presents Tang San as Huo Yuhao's intended final opponent: Huo Yuhao plans to gather continental faith, become a god, and ascend to confront him 225.

Notable Quotes

“I told you, you're my little sister. If anyone wants to hurt you, they'll have to step over my corpse.” 26

“A teacher for a day is a father for life. Since I have accepted you as my honored master, you are now my father.” 77

“Younger brother? Laughable. I, Tang San, have no younger brother like you. I never did, and I never will.” 85

Trivia

  • Huo Yuhao's accusations that the first mission-world Tang San only befriended Xiao Wu to harvest her soul ring are explicitly identified by the narration as false. Tang Hao's earlier consideration of that possibility is distinguished from Tang San's genuine relationship with her 29.
  • Rewards after the younger-brother mission include Blue Silver Grass, a Blue Silver Emperor soul bone, Eight Spider Lances, and a Sea God Fragment—described as a “Tang San gift bundle.” Huo Yuhao subsequently uses these rewards to strengthen himself against Tang San 94 96.
  • Following the alternate counterpart's castration and death, original-world Tang San experiences unexplained sexual dysfunction despite finding his divine body physically intact 95.
