Background / History
Original-world counterpart
In Huo Yuhao’s original era, Tang Hao and Ah Yin have left the Divine Realm to live on Douluo Star. The narration identifies Tang Hao as having swallowed a plane’s will, while Ah Yin spreads her roots across the planet as its Mother of Life 1.
Tang San’s wider scheme is to seize Douluo Star’s power of destiny through its child of destiny and help his father gain control of the planet as Plane Master. The Three Harms System’s concealment of Huo Yuhao disrupts Tang San’s attempt to identify and manipulate that child 35.
An episode observed through Huo Yuhao’s Dream Entry shows that Tang San had brought both parents into the Divine Realm before the Shrek Seven Devils finished arranging their ascension. Tang San nevertheless refuses Ma Hongjun’s request to bring Bai Chenxiang with them, claiming that he has no family-entry places remaining despite retaining unused places 200.
Pursuit and Ah Yin’s sacrifice
In the first mission timeline, Qian Xunji hunts Tang Hao and the pregnant Ah Yin to test whether killing her unborn child would produce a hundred-thousand-year soul bone. Ah Yin uses nearby blue silver grass as an information network, allowing the couple to repeatedly evade pursuit 8.
Ah Yin gives birth to Tang San in a remote village. When the grass warns that their pursuers are approaching, Tang Hao urges her to flee, arguing that remaining would not save the villagers. Qian Xunji subsequently orders an attack on the village, which Huo Yuhao’s forces intercept 8.
The couple holds out for fifteen minutes against Qian Xunji, Yue Guan, and Gui Mei before Ah Yin sacrifices herself. Her Absolute Stillness Domain prevents Tang Hao from answering her farewell as she asks him to raise their son. The sacrifice gives him the soul ring needed to become a Titled Douluo 9.
Tang Hao then severely wounds Qian Xunji despite Yue Guan and Gui Mei’s combined stillness domain. He kills several lower-ranked Soul Masters and escapes with Tang San and Ah Yin’s right-leg soul bone, leaving the surviving enemies too frightened to pursue immediately 9.
Loss of Ah Yin’s soul bone
Huo Yuhao intercepts the injured Tang Hao with four Soul Douluo guards. Although Tang Hao initially holds his ground, his wounds and the need to protect Tang San steadily undermine him. Huo Yuhao offers safe passage in exchange for Ah Yin’s hundred-thousand-year soul bone 10.
Tang Hao eventually abandons the bone and escapes with his son, vowing to kill Huo Yuhao and recover it. He does not know that Ah Yin’s surviving seed is lodged inside the bone. Huo Yuhao preserves the seed before absorbing the bone himself 10.
Seven days after the hunt, Qian Xunji dies from his injuries. Bibi Dong takes charge of Spirit Hall, continues hunting Tang Hao, and leads an assault that devastates the Clear Sky Sect and drives its survivors into hiding 11.
Final battle and death
Thirteen years after the robbery, Huo Yuhao attacks Tang San at Suotuo Advanced Soul Master Academy to draw Tang Hao out. Tang Hao arrives in a black robe and severs the bloodthirsty threads binding his son, revealing his previously hidden Titled Douluo identity to Tang San 26 27.
Recognizing that Huo Yuhao has surpassed him, Tang Hao nevertheless chooses to fight: delaying would only widen the gap and eliminate his chance to reclaim Ah Yin’s soul bone. He combines eighty-one hammer strikes with repeated Ring Detonation, but cannot break through Huo Yuhao’s Blood Angel Wings 27.
By the time Angel Duel Arena finishes charging, Tang Hao has shattered six soul rings and exhausted more than half his soul power. The arena seals his ninth ring while leaving Huo Yuhao at rank 95. Tang Hao loses the first exchange, is bound and drained by Bloodthirsty Threads, and dies when Huo Yuhao crushes his heart 28.
His death awards Huo Yuhao the red-grade Beauty Compendium. Tang San witnesses his father’s corpse being thrown out of the arena, attempts to flee with Xiao Wu, and is killed shortly afterward 28.
Second mission: father of the twin brothers
Huo Yuhao’s second mission places him in a different parallel timeline as Tang Hao and Ah Yin’s biological son, beside the newborn Tang San. Tang Hao holds both infants while raising a blood-red hammer and declaring war on Spirit Hall. Huo Yuhao recognizes the conflict he previously witnessed as an enemy and expects Tang Hao to escape through the strength of his hammer, domain, and Ring Detonation. Tang Hao leaves Qian Xunji, Yue Guan, and Gui Mei badly wounded 70 71.
Ah Yin sacrifices herself so that the two children can survive. Six years later, Tang Hao lives as a blacksmith in Holy Soul Village with the twins, Tang San and Tang Yuhao. Tang San was born one minute earlier. Both boys are thin and impoverished, while Tang Hao neglects them and spends much of his time drinking 72.
Old Jack helps look after the boys and arranges their martial-soul awakening. Tang Hao shows little interest in the arrangements, telling him not to interfere with his son cooking for him. Although he allows the awakening to proceed, he remains hostile toward Spirit Hall and would resume life on the run rather than accept its control over his children 73.
After the awakening, Tang San reveals his Clear Sky Hammer to Tang Hao, who emotionally instructs him to use it to protect his Blue Silver Grass. Tang Yuhao then reveals the Clear Sky Eye Hammer, a mutation combining the inherited hammer with Huo Yuhao’s Spirit Eyes. Tang Hao is astonished by its evenly balanced physical and mental attributes 74 75.
The brothers’ talent restores Tang Hao’s hope of revenge against Spirit Hall. He resumes accepting blacksmithing work, improving the household’s living conditions, and Huo Yuhao learns the Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer. On their last night before leaving for Nuoding Academy, Tang Hao apologizes for neglecting them and urges them to study and cultivate. Tang San is deeply moved, whereas Huo Yuhao regards the change as a response to their usefulness and remains emotionally distant 75.
Yu Xiaogang later recognizes the brothers’ parentage from their martial souls. Tang Hao is his idol and is described as the continent’s youngest Titled Douluo. Because Bibi Dong continues tracking Tang Hao and his sons, Yu Xiaogang conceals their identities and initially plans to keep their Clear Sky Hammers hidden 78.
Second mission: intervention and abandonment
After Yu Xiaogang’s death, Tang San attempts to kill Huo Yuhao in the Soul Hunting Forest. Huo Yuhao and his robot, Fist One, defeat and severely injure him, leaving him unable to father children. As Huo Yuhao prepares to deliver the killing blow, Tang Hao intervenes from a distance, shattering the Blue Silver Grass sword 82 85 87 88.
When Huo Yuhao attempts another attack with his Clear Sky Eye Hammer, Tang Hao immobilizes him. He insists that Tang San is Huo Yuhao’s biological older brother and invokes his authority as their father. Huo Yuhao accuses him of a double standard, asking why he had not intervened when Tang San tried to kill him 88.
Tang Hao does not resolve the accusation. He takes Tang San away, tells Huo Yuhao to calm down, and leaves his younger son behind. The narration describes both brothers as instruments of his revenge. Tang Hao and Tang San subsequently return to the Clear Sky Sect, where Tang San is formally welcomed into the clan and Tang Hao becomes deputy sect master without being punished for the sect’s earlier calamity 88 91.
In this timeline, Ah Yin’s soul ring remains with Tang Hao, while her soul bone goes to Tang San. Its life energy heals Tang San’s injury, and its influence purifies and strengthens his Blue Silver Grass 91 93 94.
Second mission: siege of the Clear Sky Sect
Six years after Tang Hao’s intervention, twelve-year-old Huo Yuhao commands a vast army of AllSpark-created Soul Guidance Robots. He sends the army against the Clear Sky Sect to force a confrontation with Tang Hao and Tang San. The sect discovers the invasion only after its collateral disciples at the foot of the mountain have been killed 88 90.
The robots wear down the sect through successive waves of attacks. After half a day, almost all its weaker fighters are dead, and its senior defenders are severely depleted. Tang Hao prepares to flee with Tang San, provoking accusations that he is abandoning the sect after previously bringing Spirit Hall’s retaliation upon it. He denies responsibility and promises to avenge the sect once his sons become experts 91.
The elders initially agree to cover his escape for the sake of Tang San’s future. Huo Yuhao then announces through the robots that Tang Hao and his son are the personal targets of the attack. He offers the others safety if they surrender and warns that allowing Tang Hao to escape will cost them their lives 91 92.
Tang Hao cannot understand the grievance. He argues that he has been living as a blacksmith and has not left the mountain since returning to the sect. His recollection that he killed those who held grudges against him during his youth leaves him believing that Spirit Hall is his only remaining enemy 92.
Huo Yuhao exploits the sect’s anger and fear to turn Tang Xiao and three surviving Titled Douluo elders against Tang Hao. Tang Hao accuses the enemy of sowing discord, but Tang Xiao declares that his death may be the sect’s only chance of survival. Tang Hao fights with his hundred-thousand-year ninth ring and Divine Slaughter’s Domain while Huo Yuhao’s level-five robots assist his opponents 92.
After an hour, Tang Hao has detonated every soul ring and exhausted all his soul power. The five combatants collapse, and level-four robots restrain everyone in the plaza, including Tang Hao and Tang San 92.
Second mission: execution
Huo Yuhao reveals himself as the army’s commander before the captive sect members and observers from Spirit Hall, the empires, and other major sects. Tang Hao and Tang Xiao recognize him with terror. Although Huo Yuhao is only a Four-Ring Soul Ancestor, his robot army has overcome the sect’s Titled Douluos through attrition and manipulation 93.
Tang Hao appeals to his fatherhood and begs Huo Yuhao not to commit an unfilial act. Huo Yuhao rejects the appeal, citing the twins’ starvation during childhood and Tang Hao’s protection of Tang San six years earlier. He plunges a longsword into Tang Hao’s chest, twists it, and withdraws it only after Tang Hao dies 93.
Tang San dies shortly afterward following a final curse against Huo Yuhao. With the second mission complete, Huo Yuhao receives the Item Enhancement Card and Dream Entry rewards before making arrangements to leave the timeline 94.
Later mission counterpart
When Huo Yuhao enters another mission as Dugu Yan, Tang Hao remains one of the three designated targets alongside Tang San and Yu Xiaogang. Huo Yuhao plans to build his strength before killing them, while the system prohibits the AllSpark and Hundred Flowers Register from being used to overwhelm that parallel world 233.
Appearance
Tang Hao is described as middle-aged when keeping watch outside the village where Ah Yin gives birth 8.
- Black robe: Worn when he intervenes to rescue Tang San at Suotuo Advanced Soul Master Academy 27.
- Blood-red killing aura: Surrounds him during his retaliatory slaughter after Ah Yin’s sacrifice 9.
- Fierce-looking appearance: The villagers are afraid of him in the second mission timeline 73.
Personality
Tang Hao’s attachment to Ah Yin drives both his rage after her sacrifice and his determination to recover her soul bone. The narration explicitly states that he loves his wife more than his child, even though he abandons the bone to ensure Tang San’s survival 9 10.
He can make a pragmatic retreat when his son’s life is at stake, but refuses to retreat from the later confrontation with Huo Yuhao. Knowing that his opponent is stronger and improving faster, he wagers everything on what he considers his last chance to settle their feud 10 27.
To Tang San, he appears to be a withdrawn blacksmith who spends his days drinking. His sudden intervention as a nine-ring Titled Douluo exposes how little his son knows about his strength and past 27.
In the second mission timeline, his alcoholism and neglect leave both sons impoverished and malnourished. His renewed interest in the family follows the discovery of their exceptional martial souls. He apologizes and improves their living conditions, but Huo Yuhao doubts the sincerity of this affection and sees revenge against Spirit Hall as its underlying motivation 72 75.
His treatment of the twins reveals pronounced favoritism toward Tang San. He invokes brotherhood to stop Huo Yuhao from killing Tang San without addressing Tang San’s earlier attempt to murder Huo Yuhao. When challenged, he relies on paternal authority rather than answering the accusation, then leaves with his elder son 88.
During the robot invasion, Tang Hao prioritizes his own survival and Tang San’s future over dying with the Clear Sky Sect. He insists that the attack is unrelated to him, promises eventual revenge, and attempts to flee. Once captured, he appeals to the same family bond that Huo Yuhao believes he previously failed to honor 91 92 93.
The Three Harms System explains that resentment toward Huo Yuhao carries between parallel mission worlds for Tang Hao, Tang San, and Yu Xiaogang. It regulates that resentment so that the targets will not immediately kill Huo Yuhao upon his arrival, while using the hostility to discourage emotional attachment to them 77.
Abilities & Skills
Clear Sky Hammer
- His tool martial soul is described as the world’s greatest tool martial soul 9.
- He uses its hammer phantom to sever Huo Yuhao’s threads and rescue Tang San 27.
- Its destructive power is amplified through the Clear Sky Sect’s self-created techniques and Clear Sky True Art, allowing him to challenge opponents above his level 23.
- In the second mission timeline, his overwhelming strength allows him to shatter Huo Yuhao’s Blue Silver Grass sword from a distance and halt a subsequent Clear Sky Eye Hammer attack while immobilizing its wielder 88.
Divine Slaughter’s Domain
- Releases a blood-colored domain accompanied by intense killing intent 9 27.
- Its collision with Huo Yuhao’s Blood Angel Domain nearly destroys Suotuo Advanced Soul Master Academy 27.
- During the second mission’s sect battle, it suppresses the auras of his opponents and is one of his principal advantages over the other Clear Sky Sect Titled Douluos 92.
Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer
- Accumulates the force of successive hammer strikes; Tang Hao stacks eighty-one strikes within a few breaths during his final battle 27.
- Can be layered with Clear Sky True Art or Ring Detonation to intensify an attack 9 27.
- Huo Yuhao learns the technique while living as Tang Hao’s younger son in the second mission timeline 75.
Ring Detonation
- A Clear Sky Sect ultimate technique that detonates soul rings to temporarily amplify combat power 27.
- His first detonation breaks Huo Yuhao’s threads and makes his next hammer strike at least thirty percent stronger 27.
- He subsequently detonates his second through sixth rings, raising the hammer’s weight to tens of thousands of jin 27.
- Even this expenditure fails to breach Huo Yuhao’s wing defenses and leaves Tang Hao heavily depleted before the arena activates 27 28.
- In the second mission timeline, he detonates all his soul rings while fighting Tang Xiao, the sect elders, and Huo Yuhao’s robots. The effort leaves him without soul power and unable to resist capture 92.
Soul Rings and Soul Bones
- Possesses nine soul rings before entering Angel Duel Arena; the ninth is Ah Yin’s red hundred-thousand-year ring 27 28.
- Has other soul bones, but none are hundred-thousand-year bones by the final confrontation 10 26.
- Lingering internal injuries contribute to his vulnerability when Huo Yuhao drains his blood in the arena 28.
- His second-mission counterpart also possesses Ah Yin’s hundred-thousand-year ninth ring. Unlike the first mission, her soul bone ultimately goes to Tang San rather than being stolen and absorbed by Huo Yuhao 91 92 93.
Blacksmithing and martial-soul assessment
- Works as a blacksmith while concealing his identity and strength 27 72.
- Resumes accepting forging commissions after his sons’ awakening in the second mission timeline, improving the family’s circumstances 75.
- Recognizes the exceptional potential of the Clear Sky Eye Hammer and questions Huo Yuhao about its balance of mental power and physical strength 74 75.
Relationships
- Ah Yin — Wife and the Blue Silver Emperor. Her sacrifice becomes his ninth soul ring; recovering her stolen soul bone remains a central motivation until his death 9 10 27. In the second mission timeline, she sacrifices herself for the twins’ survival, and her soul bone later goes to Tang San 72 91.
- Tang San — Son. Tang Hao protects him during their escape and later reveals his hidden strength to rescue him from Huo Yuhao 10 27. In the second mission, Tang San is the elder twin and continues caring for his father despite poverty and neglect. Tang Hao rescues him from Huo Yuhao, takes him back to the Clear Sky Sect, and attempts to escape with him during the robot siege 72 88 91.
- Huo Yuhao / Qian Renhan — Mortal enemy after the theft of Ah Yin’s soul bone. Huo Yuhao ultimately kills him as a system target because he is Tang San’s father, rather than from personal hatred 10 28.
- Tang Yuhao / Huo Yuhao — Younger biological son in the second mission timeline. Huo Yuhao resents his neglect, regards his belated affection as motivated by martial-soul talent, and condemns his protection of Tang San. After being abandoned in the Soul Hunting Forest, Huo Yuhao builds the robot army that captures and kills him. Tang Hao’s final appeal to fatherhood fails to change his son’s decision 71 72 75 88 93.
- Tang Xiao — Elder brother and Clear Sky Sect master. The two are described as the sect’s twin stars. During the second mission’s siege, Tang Xiao ultimately chooses the sect’s survival over brotherly loyalty and helps subdue Tang Hao 91 92.
- Clear Sky Sect elders — Former allies who blame him for successive disasters. They initially offer to cover his escape for Tang San’s sake, but turn against him after Huo Yuhao makes their survival conditional on preventing his flight 91 92.
- Qian Xunji — Pursuer whose hunt causes Ah Yin’s sacrifice. Tang Hao inflicts the injuries from which he later dies 8 9 11.
- Bibi Dong — Continues hunting him after Qian Xunji’s death and leads the first mission’s assault on the Clear Sky Sect. In the second mission, her ongoing pursuit makes concealing his sons’ identities necessary 11 78.
- Yu Xiaogang — Regards Tang Hao as his idol and recognizes the twins as his children through their Clear Sky Hammers. He protects their identities from Spirit Hall while taking both as disciples in the second mission timeline 78.
- Old Jack — Holy Soul Village elder who looks after Tang Hao’s sons in the second mission timeline. He strongly disapproves of Tang Hao’s idleness but restrains his criticism for the boys’ sake 73.
- Xiao Wu — A human-form hundred-thousand-year soul beast whom Tang Hao initially considers reserving as a soul ring for Tang San. The narration confirms this early intention while distinguishing it from Huo Yuhao’s fabricated claims about Tang San 29. It also states that Tang Hao changes his mind after Tang San and Xiao Wu genuinely fall in love 29.
