Background / History
Tian Meng originated in the Far North, where he consumed large quantities of ten-thousand-year profound ice marrow. After escaping the region, he drifted at sea for an unspecified period before reaching land. The powerful soul beasts of the Star Dou Great Forest captured him and fed on his accumulated resources for three thousand years, inadvertently strengthening themselves through him 47.
During his captivity, he devised the God-Making Plan: become a human’s soul ring, help that human attain godhood, and eventually receive resurrection. He believed he could not survive his approaching million-year heavenly tribulation. Thoughts of the Ice Empress sustained him through his imprisonment and became an enduring fixation 40 42 47.
His escape opportunity came when Huo Yuhao’s Glazed Divine Fire Eyes phantom entered the Star Dou Great Forest. Delighted by its mental strength, Tian Meng pursued it, immobilized it with spiritual power, and began sacrificing himself without waiting for consent. The phantom’s connection to its original body redirected the sacrifice to Huo Yuhao, leaving Tian Meng confused about his new host 39 40.
The Lifeform Blood Blade later supplies additional details about his capture. Approximately three thousand years earlier, Tian Meng arrived in the Star Dou Great Forest with over 900,000 years of cultivation. The forest’s Beast Kings agreed to absorb his life energy together, and Di Tian left the Lake of Life to participate. During that absence, a Golden Hawksbill Turtle King and an Evil Soul Master stole the gold of life Di Tian had guarded. Tian Meng personally confirms that he was the captured beast described in this account 132.
His knowledge of his captors later informs Huo Yuhao’s hunting plans: he had identified at least twenty hundred-thousand-year soul beasts among those that absorbed his power 135.
Appearance
Tian Meng’s original body is an enormous, plump white silkworm, far larger than an ordinary member of his species 39 40.
- Ten brilliant golden markings distinguish his physical body 39.
- Inside Huo Yuhao’s spiritual sea, he appears as a large white silkworm accompanied by ten golden rings of light 40.
- He speaks human language and has a distinctive, languid voice 39 47.
- When processing the Evil Emperor’s spiritual energy, light radiates from him and an illusory shed husk manifests as a vast net 228.
Personality
Tian Meng combines a flippant manner with calculated opportunism. He initially finds the phantom’s attempts to escape entertaining, but restrains it and starts his sacrifice once he decides there is no time left for explanations. After becoming bound to Huo Yuhao, he accepts that he cannot reverse the arrangement and cooperates with his actual host 40 41.
His attachment to the Ice Empress is possessive rather than mutual. He calls his capture of her an act of love and refuses to release her, while she rejects that framing. Huo Yuhao regards the attachment as an obsession formed during thousands of years of torment 42 47.
He is highly optimistic about his own plan, expecting the possibility of eternal life to persuade the Ice Empress. Both she and Huo Yuhao question his confidence, exposing the gap between his ambition and their assessment of what his gifts can accomplish 48.
He also enjoys an idle, comfortable life. His cultivation developed largely through eating and sleeping rather than deliberate training, and he is comparatively untroubled by spending long periods inactive in Huo Yuhao’s spiritual sea. Unlike the more self-reliant Ice Empress, he finds the prospect of reaching godhood through his host’s efforts appealing 228.
Although Huo Yuhao’s unexplained powers initially leave him uncertain about whether their alliance will prove fortunate or disastrous, Tian Meng gradually accepts his dependence on his host. By the Evil Emperor absorption, he is willing to help whenever needed and is pleased to have a useful role. His confidence in Huo Yuhao’s eventual godhood rests heavily on the divine fragments and the secrets they imply 141 227 228.
Abilities & Skills
Spiritual Power and Perception
- Flight and restraint: Uses spiritual power to float through the air, repeatedly intercept the fleeing Glazed Divine Fire Eyes phantom, and pin it in place 40.
- Aura projection: Expands his mental fluctuations to lure the Ice Empress into range 45.
- Detection: Recognizes that the stranger later identified as Ling Luochen is still alive and that her protective ice bead is failing 43.
- Area scanning: Searches the surrounding Far North for Ling Luochen after Huo Yuhao returns 49.
- Combat limitation: Despite his immense reserves, he lacks substantial direct fighting power and admits he cannot adequately provide his host with offensive protection 41 43 48.
- External manifestation: Can emerge from Huo Yuhao’s spiritual sea to speak with others, as demonstrated during the Lifeform Blood Blade’s account and the Snow Empress’s release 132 180 181.
Million-Year Soul Ring
His sacrifice grants Huo Yuhao four spiritual soul skills suited to the Spirit Eyes martial soul, alongside a passive Simulation ability 41.
| Ability | Documented details |
|---|---|
| Spiritual Detection | One of the ring’s four million-year spiritual soul skills. Huo Yuhao later uses it to search for suitable soul beasts in the Star Dou Great Forest 41 134. |
| Spiritual Sharing | One of the ring’s four million-year spiritual soul skills 41. |
| Spiritual Shock | One of the ring’s four million-year spiritual soul skills 41. |
| Spiritual Disorder | One of the ring’s four million-year spiritual soul skills 41. |
| Simulation | Passive ability that Huo Yuhao considers useful for disguising differences between his own soul-ring configuration and those of his phantom bodies. He later uses it to conceal his cultivation breakthrough after absorbing an Evil Eye soul ring 41 106. |
The ring also emits buffering light that helps cancel spiritual shock during the absorption of the Evil Emperor’s soul bone. Tian Meng can draw on the million-year ring while defending Huo Yuhao’s spiritual sea 227 231.
Additional Martial Soul Slot
- His origin power provides Huo Yuhao with an additional martial soul slot 41.
- The new martial soul must be ice-attributed, because Tian Meng’s bestowed origin is ice 41.
- He selects the 390,000-year Ice Jade Emperor Scorpion as the intended source. Her eventual sacrifice gives Huo Yuhao an Ultimate Ice martial soul 42 49.
Soul-Ring Enhancement
- Seals his million years of pure cultivation within Huo Yuhao’s body 41.
- Can use that energy to increase soul-ring ages; his stated example is raising a thousand-year third ring to the hundred-thousand-year level 41.
- Proposes strengthening both of Huo Yuhao’s martial souls by raising their rings to the hundred-thousand-year level 47.
- His origin power is described as capable of raising a thousand-year ring to the hundred-thousand-year level within minutes, making initial ring age less restrictive for Huo Yuhao 106.
- By Huo Yuhao’s journey through the Mingdou Mountain Range, the three Spirit Eyes rings following the million-year first ring have been enhanced to approximately 50,000 years each through Tian Meng’s ability 121.
Wisdom Soul Ring Guidance
- Retains his own consciousness after sacrifice and communicates from Huo Yuhao’s spiritual sea 40 49.
- Explains the Wisdom Soul Ring process to the Ice Empress and guides her transformation into one 47 49.
- Helps Huo Yuhao locate a 3,000-year ice silkworm for his Spirit Eyes’ next ring 49.
- Joins the Ice Empress in explaining the God-Making Plan to the dying Snow Empress, offering sacrifice and eventual resurrection as a possible alternative to her approaching death 182.
Soul Absorption and Spiritual Defense
- Energy distribution: Helps the Ice Empress direct part of a hundred-thousand-year giant bear’s soul-ring energy into Huo Yuhao’s spiritual sea, nourishing it while other portions strengthen his body and Eight Spider Lances 141.
- Remnant-soul protection: As an intact Wisdom Soul Ring, can help resist the spiritual attacks associated with powerful soul-ring absorption 141 231.
- Spiritual-energy net: Manifests an illusory shed husk that forms a vast net, gathers spiritual-energy clusters already divided by Huo Yuhao, and slowly absorbs them. The Ice Empress complements this by breaking clusters into motes and merging them into the spiritual sea 228.
- Evil Emperor absorption support: Helps withstand the initial mental assault from the Evil Eye Tyrant Ruler’s 800,000-year soul ring, despite the strain it places on both Wisdom Soul Rings 230.
- Defense against possession: Fights alongside the Ice Empress when the Evil Emperor’s remnant soul emerges from Huo Yuhao’s soul bone and attempts to seize his body. They serve as the first defensive line, but are nearly overwhelmed; Huo Yuhao’s Spiritual Soul Core provides temporary relief before the AllSpark and robot souls turn the battle 231 232.
Equipment / Items
- Million-year shed skin / Silkworm Garment — A protective covering formed from his accumulated cultivation. Huo Yuhao uses it against the Far North’s cold and lends it to Ling Luochen during her rescue; its warming protection requires contact with bare skin 43 44.
- Tian Meng also uses it to restrain the 390,000-year Ice Empress and contain her in a golden cage 45 46 47.
- Apparently only Tian Meng can control its restraint function, and doing so heavily drains his spiritual origin 47.
- Its full-power use is described as available only once, and the Ice Empress cannot remain imprisoned indefinitely 43 46.
- During the capture, Tian Meng uses soul power to simulate Huo Yuhao’s appearance after withdrawing the skin from Ling Luochen 45.
God-Making Plan
- Objective: Help a human reach godhood at rank one hundred, then have that human resurrect Tian Meng 47.
- Resources: His million-year soul ring, the additional ice martial soul, and cultivation energy for upgrading soul rings 41.
- Ice Empress’s role: Join him as a Wisdom Soul Ring and supply the combat strength he lacks 47 48.
| Proposed participants | Tian Meng’s estimated chance of success |
|---|---|
| Tian Meng alone | Less than 30% 48 |
| Tian Meng and the Ice Empress | 50% 48 |
These percentages are Tian Meng’s estimates, not established outcomes. The Ice Empress considers the plan an unreliable gamble that would surrender her independence. Huo Yuhao believes its resources could bring him to Limit Douluo, but not create godhood by themselves 48.
Tian Meng later extends the proposal to the Snow Empress after her failed transformation leaves her close to death. She considers sacrifice as a possible route to eventual resurrection, but does not trust Tian Meng personally; her trust rests on the Ice Empress. After losing her wagered battle with Huo Yuhao, she completes a total sacrifice that erases her body and soul rather than retaining consciousness as another Wisdom Soul Ring 182 183 184 185.
By the Evil Emperor arc, Tian Meng and the Ice Empress have become convinced that Huo Yuhao can attain godhood through his own hidden resources. Their practical role increasingly shifts from providing the plan’s central resources to assisting his cultivation and defending his spiritual sea 227 228 232.
Story Role / Major Arcs
- Far North expedition: Persuades the rank-twenty Huo Yuhao to pursue the Ice Empress as his new martial soul. Their search lasts a month near the boundary of the Far North’s core and mixed regions 42 43.
- Ice Empress’s capture: Lures her with his aura, traps her using his shed skin, and seals her inside Huo Yuhao’s spiritual sea. He then urges Huo Yuhao to leave before her clansmen discover them 45.
- Negotiation at sea: Explains his past and plan to his captive. Huo Yuhao’s divine fragment—not Tian Meng’s promises—ultimately persuades her to cooperate willingly 46 47 48 49.
- Successful integration: Guides the Ice Empress’s sacrifice, after which she joins him consciously within Huo Yuhao’s spiritual sea. Her resulting ring reaches 400,000 years 49.
- Unfamiliar continent: Accompanies Huo Yuhao to a newly discovered continent reached by the Six-Winged Blood Angel phantom. He and the Ice Empress are curious about its soul beasts, gathering grounds, and rulers 95.
- Lifeform Blood Blade’s history: Confirms that he was the captured soul beast whose energy drew Di Tian away from the Lake of Life, creating the opportunity for the theft of gold of life 132.
- Hundred-thousand-year ring absorption: Helps Huo Yuhao absorb a giant bear’s ring into Blue Silver Grass. The appearance of a third martial soul and Optimus Prime’s overwhelming strength leave him and the Ice Empress alarmed by how little they understand their host 141.
- Snow Empress’s release: Recognizes the auctioned embryo as the 690,000-year Snow Empress and questions how she could have transformed again. He and the Ice Empress mediate the reunion and explain their plan, leading her to consider an alliance with Huo Yuhao 180 181 182.
- Evil Emperor soul-bone absorption: Is astonished to see the defeated Evil Eye Tyrant Ruler and recognize the scale of Huo Yuhao’s growth. Helps process its spiritual energy, strengthening his own soul form in the process 227 228.
- Evil Emperor soul-ring absorption: Supports Huo Yuhao against the ring’s intense spiritual pressure while his host absorbs its power and condenses a mental-attribute soul core 229 230.
- Defense of the spiritual sea: Joins the Ice Empress against the Evil Emperor’s concealed remnant soul during soul-core fusion. Their resistance buys time, but the intruder nearly defeats them before Huo Yuhao summons the AllSpark’s robot souls and absorbs the remnant himself 231 232.
Relationships
- Huo Yuhao — Host and partner in the God-Making Plan. Their bond begins accidentally through a phantom body; Tian Meng later realizes how little he knows about Huo Yuhao’s hidden resources 40 41 49.
- Huo Yuhao frequently screens him off from outside events, allowing him to know only what his host chooses to reveal. Huo Yuhao also dislikes his unannounced emergence from the spiritual sea 180 181 227.
- Despite limited freedom and earlier uncertainty, Tian Meng comes to accept the arrangement and willingly assists him. Huo Yuhao’s defeat of the Evil Emperor leaves him astonished by his host’s rapid advancement 141 227 228.
- Ice Empress / Ice Jade Emperor Scorpion — Object of his longstanding fixation. He captures her to secure both her survival and her continued presence beside him; she rejects his romantic justification before eventually becoming Huo Yuhao’s fellow Wisdom Soul Ring 42 47 49.
- Ling Luochen — Indirect beneficiary of his protective shed skin. Removing it to trap the Ice Empress leaves her exposed to the Far North’s cold 43 45.
- Mysterious gray figure — An intruder who becomes a gray bead inside Huo Yuhao’s spiritual sea. Tian Meng angrily treats its arrival as a challenge to his territory 40.
- Snow Empress — An old acquaintance from the Far North. Tian Meng is shocked by her capture and failed transformation, then helps explain the God-Making Plan. She remains distrustful of him even while considering sacrifice, relying instead on her bond with the Ice Empress 180 182 183.
- Di Tian and the Star Dou Great Forest’s Beast Kings — Former captors who absorbed his life energy. Di Tian’s participation in that exploitation indirectly enabled the theft of the gold of life he guarded 47 132.
- Lifeform Blood Blade — Provides an account of the gold-of-life theft connected to Tian Meng’s captivity. Tian Meng emerges to confirm his identity as the soul beast in its story 132.
- Evil Eye Tyrant Ruler / Evil Emperor — A defeated soul beast whose remains supply spiritual energy that strengthens Tian Meng’s soul form. Its concealed remnant later becomes an enemy inside Huo Yuhao’s spiritual sea, where Tian Meng and the Ice Empress resist its attempt at possession 227 228 231 232.
