Borrowing People from the Sovereign

At the edge of the forest, ten Highgods of the Xuanwu Clan were patrolling when a wave of white mist drifted past. Their souls suddenly stalled, then quickly recovered.

"What was that?" The captain hurriedly turned around. "Did you all feel dizzy for a moment?"

"I did too." "Me too." Several team members immediately formed a combat formation.

As Highgods, their souls were powerful. They could detect even the slightest abnormality, much less something that affected all ten Highgods at once.

"Captain, could it be because we're near Nether Mountain?" one team member said. "I heard the mist on Nether Mountain affects the soul. Maybe some mist drifted down from the mountain."

"Nether Mountain?" The captain turned to look at the towering peak in the distance. Purple, gray, and white mists swirled around it. Thinking back to the mist just now, it had indeed been white.

"If it wasn't Nether Mountain, then whatever could affect all ten of us in an instant without being detected could probably kill us just as easily." The team member continued his analysis. "It shouldn't be our enemy."

After hearing this, the captain looked around again. Nothing happened for quite a while, so he said, "All right, it probably really was mist from the mountain. Relax a little. There probably aren't many suicidal fools in the Netherworld who would dare attack our Four Divine Beasts Family."

"The captain is right." Another man laughed loudly. "Have you heard? One of the daughters of the Skywave Prefecture Prefect Lord was taken a liking to by a Six-Star Demon lord from the Azure Dragon Clan. He directly snatched her away outside the city.

"When that Prefect Lord came to demand her back, he could only lower himself and beg. It was only after an elder stepped in that she was released. But everyone knows what must have happened already."

"Haha, being chosen by our Four Divine Beasts Family is their blessing." The others joined in the loud discussion.

Within the forest beneath the ten men, Sean's aura had completely merged with a tree. Unless one was an exceptional expert in the soul, it was simply impossible to discover him.

As a supreme expert in the Life Law, as long as plants existed nearby, he could merge his aura with them. This ability was comparable to the concealment abilities of the Dark Law, though it required living things and thus had stricter conditions than the Dark Law.

Only after the team above had left did Sean emerge from the tree.

"Most members of the Four Divine Beasts Family have divine avatars or Saint Domain True Bodies elsewhere. What a nuisance." Sean let out a deep breath. "I tested six teams of ten. At last, I found one person with only a single divine avatar. I've finally achieved my goal."

With Sean's current Soul Seed ability of the Death Rule, he could easily plant Soul Seeds in even Seven-Star Demons, or in dozens or hundreds of ordinary Highgods.

However, a Soul Seed could only control the divine avatar before him. Divine avatars elsewhere would instantly realize that they had lost contact with this one. Anyone with some knowledge would know it was either a Soul Seed or Soul Bewilderment. Therefore, if he wanted to secretly plant a Soul Seed in someone without outsiders finding out, he could only test them one by one.

Using a special Soul Poison, he would instantly bewilder a team of Highgods. Then, at incredible speed, Sean would use Soul Bewilderment to search the memories of all ten people. He did not check any other information, only whether they had other divine avatars.

It was not until he ambushed the sixth team that he found an Earth Attribute Highgod with only one divine avatar. His previous divine avatar had been killed during a Demon mission, while this one had been formed after his Saint Domain True Body refined a divine spark.

Several days later, beside a cliff:

"Master, this is the information on all the God-level experts of the Four Divine Beasts Family who have come here this time, including their numbers and each person's level." A Xuanwu clansman with a Soul Seed knelt before Sean and presented him with a book.

Sean drew the book over with divine power. A sweep of his divine sense revealed all its contents, and he smiled. "Very good. Go back. Everything else remains normal."

"Yes." The Xuanwu clansman obeyed and left.

Sean looked again at the information in his hand and said coldly, "One Lord God Emissary, six Seven-Star Demons, and nearly a hundred Six-Star Demons. What an enormous show of force."

And that was not all. More experts were arriving from other planes. Even the Highgod with the Soul Seed did not know the exact details. It seemed that the Four Divine Beasts had truly spared no expense to deal with him, this newly appointed Lord God Emissary.

"Looks like I'll have to strike first. The longer I wait, the more of them there will be, and I can't avoid battle forever." Sean finally made his decision. He had to launch a surprise attack in advance.

Running away would be easy. The Netherworld was infinitely vast. If he did not enter a city, finding someone would be far too difficult. Unless a Lord God personally intervened, even Paragons would have no way to find him. But he could not run now.

First, Death Sovereign was probably watching the show, and he could not appear too cowardly. Second, if he remained wanted for the rest of his life and had to be cautious even when entering a city, that would be far too troublesome. Moreover, there were still countless trillions of years ahead of him. Over such a long period, he could not guarantee that he would not truly be surrounded, especially when the other side had several Lord God Emissaries.

He might as well slaughter them now. They were already enemies to the death anyway. As long as he did not kill any Lord God descendants, it would be fine.

Over the following month, with the cooperation of his insiders, Sean successfully planted Soul Seeds in more than a dozen other God-level guards of the Four Divine Beasts Family who had only one divine avatar. Then he returned to the Nether Hotel.

When Death Sovereign saw Sean approach, she asked with a faint smile, "Judging from what you were doing earlier, you planted Soul Seeds in quite a few people, didn't you?"

Sean replied, "Yes, Sovereign, but I could only ambush guard team members in the outer regions. They were all ordinary Highgods. I had no way of infiltrating the central area to act against the experts gathered there."

His Three-element Fusion God Power allowed him to approach some powerful experts without being discovered, but he had to fully suppress his aura. The moment he acted, he would inevitably be exposed.

"They have quite a lot of experts. I can tell you that other experts have already begun arriving from elsewhere in the Netherworld," Death Sovereign said. "They have also stationed several people at the entrance to Nether Mountain. They probably intend to wait for you to come out. If I hadn't called you out early, they might really have noticed you."

"Thank you for your help, Sovereign," Sean replied.

If he had not been a soul mutant and had not received the Sovereign's warning in advance, then once he descended from Nether Mountain, was noticed, and then ambushed, his life might truly have been in danger.

Death Sovereign said, "There is no need to thank me. The Four Divine Beasts Family knows this is my territory, yet they still dare behave like this. Naturally, I also hope to see you destroy them."

"I understand," Sean said.

Lord Gods generally would not attack God-level beings unless they were directly offended. The Four Divine Beasts Family knew this, which was why they were so arrogant.

However, in Sean's view, even if the Lord Gods did not intervene, this was an utterly brainless thing to do. Only fools like the Four Divine Beasts Family could do something like this.

Death Sovereign continued, "What do you plan to do next? I'm rather curious. There are too many experts over there. You probably can't defeat them."

"I'm not enough on my own, so I'd like to borrow some people from you, Sovereign," Sean asked cautiously.
