Hell, Heavenly Sacrifice Mountain Range:
With a thought from Azure Dragon, Buweit appeared in his grand hall. Still utterly confused, Buweit saw the Azure Dragon Lord God seated above and hurriedly knelt. "Sovereign."
"Buweit, tell me. Was everything you told me before true?" Azure Dragon asked coldly.
Buweit trembled inwardly, but he absolutely could not admit that he had lied before. "Everything I said was true. Nasser was my friend. Sean killed him and took all his treasures, which was what caused this conflict."
By now, he had learned from the divine clones of the other trapped elders that Sean was a Paragon.
Though he was despairing, the issue was no longer revenge or reclaiming that Sovereign Artifact, but how to stay alive. After all, because of him, the family had clashed with a Paragon and even alarmed the Sovereigns.
Given the Four Divine Beasts Family's usual domineering ways, this matter was not necessarily wrong. The problem was that he had concealed the matter of the Sovereign Artifact, causing the family to misjudge the situation and end up where they were today.
"Make a Supreme God's oath," Azure Dragon said gravely.
"Fine, I'll make it now." Buweit immediately composed his words, raised a hand, and swore, "I, Buweit, swear in the name of the Destruction Supreme God that everything I previously told Patriarch Gaisreisen and Patriarch Azure Dragon regarding Sean was true. If there is even a single lie, may my soul be scattered and destroyed."
A Supreme God's oath could not be false, but things could be concealed. He had never mentioned the Destruction Sovereign Artifact, so there was naturally no deception involved.
As for Nasser, he could indeed be considered his friend, since they truly had been friends before. Besides, the scope of the word "friend" was far too broad. Using that word in a Supreme God's oath left far too much room for loopholes.
After hearing this, Azure Dragon's frown eased somewhat. "Good. Come with me to the Netherworld."
"The Netherworld?" Buweit froze, but before he could react, a ten-meter-wide spatial rift appeared within the hall, revealing the terrifying Space Turbulence inside.
Several figures shot into it in an instant. The spatial rift swiftly closed, as though nothing had happened.
Looking at the Space Turbulence around him and the Four Divine Beasts Lord Gods beside him, Buweit could not help but panic. Still, being able to enter Space Turbulence was itself an incredible experience.
Netherworld, Nine Nether Domain.
While waiting for the Four Divine Beasts Lord Gods to arrive, Sean spread out his divine sense and discovered that everything within a thousand miles was covered in purple mist. Every God level being within it had fainted, including some Seven-Star Demons.
This mist was even more powerful than the Purple Mist on Nether Mountain. Sean could not help but feel shaken. The gap between a Paragon and a Sovereign was simply like heaven and earth.
But he quickly returned to the problem at hand: how should he deal with what came next? How could he prevent the Sovereigns from demanding to inspect the "Supreme God Relic"? Though even if they merely looked at it, they might not discover anything unusual.
After pondering for a long time, he realized there was no truly reliable solution. At this point, the matter was entirely under Death Sovereign's control. Or perhaps the Destruction Sovereign, who had just appeared, could interfere as well. The other Sovereigns were merely watching the show. Though Sean, a Paragon, was at the center of the conflict, there was nothing he could do.
"The Four Divine Beasts are here." Death Sovereign's reminder suddenly sounded in Sean's mind.
Four figures abruptly appeared. They were so fast that even though Sean had been prepared, he did not notice how they had arrived. Even a Lower Sovereign was far stronger than a Paragon. They were simply not lifeforms on the same level.
"Lord Destruction Sovereign, Lady Death Sovereign." The Four Divine Beasts first bowed in salute. Then Azure Dragon said, "This is my descendant, Buweit. Sean, what he said does not match what you said, and he has also made a Supreme God's oath."
Feeling the immense pressure around him and hearing what the Four Divine Beasts Lord Gods said, Buweit naturally realized who the people in the sky were. He immediately knelt. "Buweit pays respects to the Sovereigns."
Sean glanced at Buweit, then looked at the Four Divine Beasts and smiled. "A Supreme God's oath? That does not necessarily mean it is true."
"Hmph. Are you saying a Supreme God's oath can be false?" the White Tiger Lord God said coldly.
"Of course it cannot be false, but many things can be concealed." Sean had lived in the Panlong Universe for countless billions of years, so he naturally understood some of this world's loopholes. "The safest method is still to let me use Soul Bewilderment on him and question him directly."
Before the Four Divine Beasts could reply, the Destruction Sovereign suddenly said, "That will not do. You are the first Paragon of the Death Rule in all heaven and earth. During the Plane Decisive Battle, you even easily planted a Soul Seed in a peak Asura.
"If you use Soul Bewilderment on Buweit now, we have no way of knowing whether you might deliberately manipulate something. That would not be fair."
"That makes some sense." The other Sovereigns began discussing it among themselves and felt that the Destruction Sovereign was right.
They did not know how powerful a Death Rule Paragon was in matters involving Soul Seeds. Sovereigns only possessed greater Willpower; their accomplishments in Profound Mysteries were far inferior to those of Paragons. Soul Seeds and Soul Bewilderment relied solely on Profound Mysteries and had little to do with Willpower.
If Sean did something at the instant he planted a Soul Seed, the Sovereigns might not necessarily be able to detect it deep within Buweit's soul.
At that moment, Death Sovereign suddenly said, "Then I will use Soul Bewilderment. Or, if you do not trust me, you can have an expert in the Death Rule from Hell do it."
Since Death Sovereign had said so, the other Sovereigns, including the Four Divine Beasts, naturally dared not object. The Destruction Sovereign said, "Fine. Then you can use Soul Bewilderment."
Watching the Sovereigns discuss the matter, Buweit was already scared out of his wits. But in such circumstances, he had no say in the matter. From the first day he had concealed the Sovereign Artifact, the situation had slipped beyond his control. Then, to hide that lie, he had fabricated even more lies.
Originally, this had not been a major issue. Though some of his subordinates might have exposed flaws, the patriarch would generally not investigate. The problem was that Sean had grown stronger and stronger, causing the Four Divine Beasts Family to suffer tremendous losses. That was what made his lies increasingly likely to be exposed.
Now, he had even alarmed so many Sovereigns. This was utterly beyond anything he could have imagined or controlled.
Death Sovereign glanced at Buweit, her gaze sharpening. A ray of black light shot out and struck Buweit directly, making his body shudder.
Death Sovereign asked, "Buweit, did you conceal anything from the Four Divine Beasts regarding your conflict with Sean?"
"Yes." Buweit replied with dull eyes.
"What?" Quite a few Sovereigns were surprised, looking at the Four Divine Beasts with strange expressions.
Azure Dragon and the others also looked grim. Before so many Sovereigns, someone from their own family had admitted to deceiving them.
