Cheng Yu reshaped the Demon Dynasty and prepared it for the Heavenly Demons’ advance, while trying to secure time for the Demon Race and unite the Myriad Races. The volume ends with him taking command of the Seventh Great Wall’s defense and preparing for another war.

Arc 21The Tianwu Purge

Cheng Yu returned to the Demon Race, secured Shen Tian’s succession, and reshaped the Demon Dynasty through a sweeping purge while preparing to challenge the Heavenly Dao. The arc leaves the Nian Beast attacking Fuzhou as the city’s defenders falter and a court-robed man draws the Gilt Black Dragon Scroll.

  • Cheng Yu took Shen Yu’s memories, learned of his ten thousand years of heavenly punishment, and left the Jade Bamboo Grove to answer Niu Da’s plea for help.
  • Shen Jun entrusted the Demon Dynasty to Cheng Yu, named Shen Tian his successor, and died, after which Cheng Yu became regent and began imposing order.
  • Cheng Yu helped Shen Tian ascend as Monster Emperor, punished the Five Fiends and rebellious clans, and reorganized the Demon court into new departments and ministries.

Arc 22The Blood Corpse Outbreak

As the Outer Demons breached the First Great Wall, Cheng Yu sacrificed the pass and redirected the coming struggle toward Humankind. He tightened his control over the Demon Dynasty and helped contain the Blood Corpse God’s outbreak in the capital, though its destruction remained uncertain.

  • Cheng Yu ceded sixteen border cities to Great Qin, pushed for reform in the Demon Dynasty, and watched the Outer Demons begin their assault on the First Great Wall.
  • Cheng Yu sent Kuang Cang orders and a peacock tail feather, then used the feather to help the defenders escape when Samael arrived and the First Great Wall fell.
  • Cheng Yu clashed with Samael before withdrawing, then urged the Demon Race to preserve its Great Demons and declared that Humankind must take up its duty as the leading race.
  • Cheng Yu challenged the great clans’ control of taxes and resources, then revealed a drastic plan to Shen Tian and ordered Kuang Cang to uproot the Owl Race’s power in the Southern Continent.
  • Wu Xuan discovered the Blood Corpse God’s presence, and Cheng Yu bargained with Netherworld for limited assistance while the Heavenly Martial Directorate investigated.

Arc 23The Southern Continent Gambit

Cheng Yu sent Kuang Cang to bring the Southern Continent back under the Demon Dynasty while Azure Owl took on the Demon Laws. As rebellion and human intervention escalated, Cheng Yu confronted the Four Sages and demanded terms that would give the Demon Race time to recover.

  • Cheng Yu appointed Kuang Cang to command the Southern Continent, where Kuang Cang exposed corruption, disciplined the army, and challenged Azure Owl and the region’s powerful clans.
  • Kuang Cang seized resources to pay his soldiers as Azure Owl accepted appointment as Minister of Justice and then took over drafting the Demon Laws, while Cheng Yu planned to unify the Demon Race under the Monster Emperor.
  • Kuang Cang retook much of the Southern Continent but faced a stronger rebellion backed by Baiyue Prefecture, prompting Cheng Yu to send reinforcements and order preparations along the borders.

Arc 24The Seventh Great Wall

Cheng Yu endured a long confinement while the Demon Dynasty consolidated its rule and the Heavenly Demons pushed through the Great Walls. He emerged to unite the Myriad Races for the defense of the Seventh Great Wall and prepare for the war ahead.

  • Nian rampaged through Baiyue Prefecture, but burning bamboo distracted him, and Fuzhou City's defenders killed him after Shen Tian's edict expelled him from the Demon Race and shifted its fortune to Humankind.
  • Cheng Yu established the Demon Laws as Heavenly Statutes through Shen Tian's sacrifice to Heaven, then relinquished the regency and returned to the Jade Bamboo Grove, where the Eternal Heavenly Dao confined him.
  • Cheng Yu joined the Myriad Heavens Chat Group, traveled to the Spirit World, destroyed a Heavenly Demon invasion and studied the eye of the Abyss.
  • While Cheng Yu remained confined, Shen Tian and Shen Yue suppressed rebellions and brought the Demon Race under the Demon Dynasty, but the Second Great Wall fell and the Heavenly Demons breached further defenses.
