Background / History

Liu Xian’er was born into the Liu Family. Her Heavenly Immortal Root transformed her parents’ standing within the lineage: with advancement opportunities and sect support, both reached the Core Condensation Stage. After gaining cultivation experience, she offered to bring them to the Heavenly Dao Sect, but they preferred to remain with their family despite Divine Path Mountain’s superior cultivation environment 910.

Fairy Qingxia nurtured her for decades and supplied valuable cultivation resources, including Marrow-Washing Liquid. Xian’er’s gratitude and attachment to her master later became a decisive obstacle when Qingxia opposed her relationship with Li Xiaoya 73 787 788.

Her formation studies began under Li Xiaoya’s mother. The two shared a cave abode for several years, and Mother Li taught her considerable formation knowledge. After Li Xiaoya ascended, Xian’er devoted more time to formations while waiting in the Human Realm, eventually becoming the Heavenly Dao Sect’s second foremost formation master behind Mother Li 772 1773.

Appearance

Liu Xian’er is repeatedly described as possessing extraordinary, celestial beauty; her appearance initially leaves Li Xiaoya tongue-tied, and she remains strikingly beautiful after decades apart 87 700.

  • Complexion: Fair, smooth skin compared to fine mutton-fat jade 764 767.
  • Blue Ice disguise: A white veil conceals her face; removing it produces blue light and flickering runes 764.
  • Clothing: Appears in a white palace dress, sometimes accompanied by blue Ice Armor 1526 1606.
  • Later mission appearance: Uses a white-robed, masked identity while reinforcing defensive restrictions at Falling Sun Pass 1991.

Personality

Xian’er combines gentleness with a strong sense of justice. She saves Xue Bo from uncontrolled lightning, warns the participants against reckless pride, and forgives them once they appear repentant. Her stated ambition is to protect the world and become a guardian of the Heavenly Dao; as the Blue Ice Fairy, that ideal becomes a campaign against predatory cultivators 87 88 182 235.

She is intensely competitive. Sparring with Li Xiaoya delights her, while losing ground to him or Dong Santong frustrates her. Her desire to become stronger eventually extends beyond cultivation and spells to formations, which she recognizes as a means of restraining opponents far more powerful than herself 181 1055 1895.

In intimate matters, she is shy, reserved, and prone to concealing distress. Her cultivation crisis drives her to drug trusted companions and abduct Li Xiaoya, an act she later apologizes for without initially explaining her reasons. Her guilt over becoming involved with him while he was already with Zhang Hong persists for centuries and eventually becomes a heart demon 764 771 1919.

Despite her deference to elders, she can make independent choices. She questions the Daode Daoist Patriarch’s explanations and ultimately chooses to remain with the Immortal Sovereign to study Formation Dao, even though doing so means another separation from Li Xiaoya 2022 2327 2328.

Abilities & Skills

Heavenly Immortal Root

  • Her water-root aptitude enables unusually pure water spiritual qi and rapid cultivation, including reaching the Nascent Soul Realm at approximately 160 791 795.
  • She excels at single-element spells and divine abilities 2040.
  • Her aptitude is exceptional in the Human Realm but comparatively ordinary in the Thirty-Three Star Realm and among the Immortal Race 2327.

Water and Ice Techniques

  • Ice Shield Technique: Stops Ouyang Ya’s uncontrolled Chain Lightning and saves Xue Bo 87.
  • Water shields: Repeatedly counter Li Xiaoya’s fire attacks during their early sparring 180.
  • Ice spikes: Kill the Three Yellow Sand Fiends in a swift ambush 235.
  • Large-scale defense: Uses enormous ice blocks and water techniques against Li Xiaoya’s increasingly powerful martial abilities 795 796.
  • Range limitation: Her long-range attacks are formidable, but her close-range offensive abilities are comparatively weak 1003.

Ren-Kui Water Sphere

  • Creates an intensely cold water sphere in which she can teleport freely and freeze incoming attacks 796.
  • Can produce a Water Golem within the sphere, though Li Xiaoya destroys it during their spar 796.
  • Provides battlefield defense against multiple Fire Dragon Palace elders 874.
  • Is not invincible: Li Xiaoya destroys it with a concentrated burst of golden-red beams 796.
  • Li Xiaoya learns the technique from her, but his version has inferior range and freezing power and lacks her teleportation capability 901.

Formation Dao

  • Early mastery: Becomes the Heavenly Dao Sect’s second foremost formation master before ascension. Books supplied by the Daode Daoist Patriarch later raise her attainments further 1773.
  • Spirit-Link Slaying Formation: Develops a formation for coordinated attacks specifically to help protect Li Xiaoya on the Race Battlefield 1773.
  • Concealment and defense: Repeatedly reinforces Illusory Spirit Island until even some Mighty One Stage demon cultivators cannot locate it 1889 1895.
  • Combat integration: Combines formations with spells and divine abilities. After she stabilizes her Mighty One cultivation, Li Xiaoya estimates that she can face an ordinary late-stage Mighty One demon beast 1895 1921.
  • Large-scale deployment: Places more than a dozen interlinked formation rings across an area tens of thousands of li wide 1932.
  • Battlefield control: Blocks enemy calls for help, tracks escape routes and fleeing Demon Cores, and directs Li Xiaoya toward targets 1938.
  • Limits: Sustained operation, alteration, and repair consume enormous magic power. During one prolonged engagement, she admits she can continue for only five or six more days 1940.
  • Later attainment: Her Formation Dao mastery exceeds eighty percent. Li Xiaoya remains stronger in a direct duel, but she surpasses him in group combat and defense 2426.

Water-Fire Combined Strike

  • Coordinates her water abilities with Zhang Hong’s fire abilities, including attacks using the Water and Fire Sky-Piercing Pearls 1003.
  • Their combined strength eventually exceeds what Xian’er can accomplish alone and becomes stronger than Dong Santong’s abilities 999 1096.
  • Helps the pair hold off the Spirit Communion Stage King Ten-Thousand-Zhangs while Li Xiaoya fights Black Demon Young Master 1093 1096.
  • Extensive rehearsal does little to raise cultivation. Both women agree to reduce joint practice so they can focus on advancing their realms 1055.

Supporting Cultivation Skills

  • Possesses divine sense far stronger than that of ordinary cultivators at her level 1605.
  • Practices the Blood Power Cultivation Method under Li Xiaoya’s influence 1880.
  • Cannot cultivate the Dragon-Devouring God-Reversal Art or Myriad Beasts Body Tempering Diagram, apparently because of constitutional differences 1904.
  • Uses a secret recovery art learned from the Immortal Sovereign to remain sealed in ice after the Star Realm Grand Formation battle 2421.

  • White veil — Conceals her identity as Blue Ice; blue light and runes appear when she removes it 764.

  • Zhang Hong — Initially a romantic rival, later a close friend and combat partner. Their shared affection for Li Xiaoya brings them together, although Xian’er retains private guilt about how their relationship began 785 999 1919.
  • Fairy Qingxia — Master and deeply influential guardian. Xian’er defends Li Xiaoya before her but cannot initially bear Qingxia’s threat to disown her. Qingxia later entrusts her with Rainbow Rosy Peak 787 788 1027.
  • Li Xiaoya’s mother — Close confidante and early formation teacher. Their trust is damaged by the drugging incident; Xian’er later postpones ascension to help her and Li Muzhi cultivate 772 1561.

  • Liu Xin’er — Cousin from the Liu Family. A separate character whose appearance resembles Xian’er’s 789 1001.
  • Daode Daoist Patriarch — Benefactor who supplies formation teachings and assigns defensive missions. Xian’er respects him but increasingly suspects concealed motives behind his instructions 1773 1983 2022.
