After Zhao Wuji left, Oscar helped Tang San over to Dai Mubai and looked at the wounded group.
"What's gotten into Teacher Zhao today? Is he on his period? Picking on a bunch of freshmen."
"Say it louder if you've got the guts. Let Teacher Zhao hear you. He's probably looking for somewhere to vent his anger right now."
"On his period? I think you're the one on your period. Thirty days a month, with one day off in the longer months. In February, you even owe two days."
Dai Mubai rolled his eyes and snapped.
"Could you not be so blunt? There are girls here."
"Get lost. With Uncle Big Sausage around, how could anything stay decent? Let's get them settled first."
As he spoke, Dai Mubai ignored Zhu Zhuqing's murderous glare and picked her up.
Oscar glanced around, then lowered his head to look at Tang San.
"Why do you all get to carry beautiful girls, while I get a man?"
Dai Mubai shot him a sideways look.
"That's a matter of character."
"It really is a matter of character..."
Seeing Zhu Zhuqing's knife-sharp glare as she lay in Dai Mubai's arms, Oscar muttered under his breath.
"Do you need me to help you walk?"
Ning Rongrong looked at Lin Yang, who was clearly in poor mental shape, and asked after a moment's hesitation.
"No. Just take care of Xiao Wu."
Lin Yang shook his head and followed Dai Mubai and the others.
"Oh."
Ning Rongrong answered and followed behind them, carrying Xiao Wu.
Because of the arrangements for the male and female students, Lin Yang ended up with a room of his own, just like Zhu Zhuqing, though it was only a small wooden cabin of a dozen or so square meters.
Lin Yang surveyed the room, sat down on the bed, and closed his eyes to regulate his breathing.
By the time he finished meditating, night had fallen. He slowly opened his eyes, his scarlet Sharingan making him look like a demon returned from hell in the darkness.
He turned to look in a certain direction. In his vision, an extremely dazzling mass of Soul Power stood outside the academy.
Beside it were two much smaller but still dazzling masses of Soul Power. He had seen one of them that day-it belonged to Zhao Wuji.
"Looks like Zhao Wuji is about to get a taste of being bullied by someone stronger, too."
The corners of Lin Yang's mouth lifted. He waited on the bed for a while, only deactivating his Sharingan and getting up to open the door after the largest mass of Soul Power had left.
Shrek Academy was very quiet at night, with only the whoosh of the wind.
Lin Yang spread his arms. The evening breeze brushed over him like a lover's hands, and he narrowed his eyes in comfort.
When he opened his eyes again, his gaze met another pair of eyes not far away.
They belonged to a girl in black sleepwear. Even her loose clothing could not hide the tantalizing curves of her body.
"You're still awake?"
Lin Yang looked up at the sky, where a waning moon hung high overhead.
"Taking a walk helps me recover."
After that single sentence, Zhu Zhuqing simply watched Lin Yang in silence. They stared at each other, and a deathly hush settled over them.
After a long while, Lin Yang's gaze drifted slightly downward before he quickly pulled it back.
"You look pretty good in that."
"Thank you."
There was no discernible emotion in Zhu Zhuqing's voice.
They fell silent again. Lin Yang thought for a moment, then squeezed out another sentence.
"How about we take a walk together?"
The instant the words left his mouth, Lin Yang inwardly cursed his own stupidity.
"All right."
Zhu Zhuqing hesitated for only a second before nodding.
Outside Shrek Academy, a young man and woman walked side by side. He was tall and muscular, she graceful and alluring. Anyone who saw them would surely have praised them as a perfect pair, matched like fine jade.
In truth, however, neither spoke a single word as they walked, as though they really had come out for nothing more than a stroll.
"Your Martial Soul..."
Zhu Zhuqing's lips moved a few times before she finally spoke.
"It's called the Sharingan."
"Then..."
"Its Soul Skills are abilities akin to ocular techniques."
Zhu Zhuqing stopped and looked at Lin Yang. Beneath the moonlight, even her expressionless face held a distinctive charm.
"Let me see it."
Lin Yang lowered his head slightly to look at her, feeling rather at a loss.
Wasn't this Zhu Zhuqing, the famously aloof goddess? What was with this side of her?
As he thought, his eyes turned from black to red, and three black tomoe slowly appeared.
Zhu Zhuqing tilted her head up and stared at his Sharingan without a word.
Just as Lin Yang was about to say something, his pupils contracted, and he abruptly twisted sideways.
Zhu Zhuqing withdrew her cat claws. Her figure flashed, becoming an afterimage that darted around Lin Yang, her voice drifting through the air.
"Spar with me."
So suddenly?
Lin Yang retreated several steps. A second later, a black shadow flashed through the spot where he had just stood.
Zhu Zhuqing was undeniably fast, almost becoming a black streak, seemingly leaving layers of phantom images in her wake.
Unfortunately for her, she was facing the Sharingan, with its exceptionally powerful ability to track motion.
His Sharingan kept shifting left and right. Even an agility-type Soul Master could not escape those eyes.
No matter what angle she attacked from, Lin Yang always dodged her by a hair's breadth.
After repeated attacks yielded nothing, a yellow light flashed over Zhu Zhuqing's body. Her speed doubled, her figure almost stretching into a line as she charged at Lin Yang.
First Soul Skill: Hell Stab.
Lin Yang's Sharingan narrowed, locking firmly onto her figure. His hands swiftly turned jade-colored and precisely blocked both cat claws.
One claw had aimed for his throat, the other for his crotch. Lin Yang's mouth twitched.
"Holy shit, you're playing for keeps?"
Zhu Zhuqing said nothing. One long leg lashed viciously toward Lin Yang's waist.
Lin Yang had no choice but to release her and retreat. Zhu Zhuqing pressed in, her claws casting a continuous flurry of shadows, leaving him to dodge and block as he backed away.
His jade-white palms repeatedly struck her cat claws, producing the ringing clash of metal.
After another swipe, Zhu Zhuqing's agile figure leaped up, her body spinning through the air in an unbelievable motion.
As she spun, countless claw shadows came at him, blotting out the sky.
Second Soul Skill: Netherworld Hundred Claws.
After taking a few strikes head-on, Lin Yang hurriedly retreated. Those claw strikes grew progressively stronger as they hit, working on a principle similar to a cutting machine.
But Zhu Zhuqing seemed locked onto him, spinning after him, and Lin Yang could only grit his teeth and defend.
Five strikes, ten, twenty, fifty. Gradually, Lin Yang's palms hurt more and more, and he was about to reach his limit.
Lin Yang's gaze sharpened. Just as he prepared to counterattack, Zhu Zhuqing's assault suddenly stopped.
Momentum carried Zhu Zhuqing through several more rotations in midair before she fell toward Lin Yang.
He caught her instinctively. With her warm, fragrant softness in his arms, he could clearly feel her body trembling slightly.
He looked down. Zhu Zhuqing's face was deathly pale, and fine beads of sweat covered her forehead.
Lin Yang's Sharingan shifted, and he immediately saw that her earlier arm injury had flared up. It had dislocated again.
Zhu Zhuqing squirmed awkwardly and freed herself from his embrace.
"It's fine. I'll be all right after a night's sleep."
"Should I take you back?"
"No need."
With that, Zhu Zhuqing headed back into the academy on her own.
Beneath the moonlight, her figure looked so frail.
Lin Yang looked up at the moon and pondered for a moment, then quickly caught up with her. Amid her startled cry, he scooped her up and walked toward the academy.
"Put me... down."
"Beat me, and I'll put you down."
"..."
In the distance, a tall, hooded man silently withdrew his gaze.
"Young people these days are all so..."
Before his words had faded, the man's figure vanished, as though he had never been there.
As though sensing something, Lin Yang turned and glanced thoughtfully in the direction where the man had disappeared.
