Ch. 201Better to Lure the Snake Out Than Cower

Fugaku brought Gua and the others back to camp while a separate clash tied down Iroha Hyuga’s patrol. After hearing that enemies had targeted Gua, Fugaku rejected withdrawing him to the rear and chose to lure the attackers out instead.

  • Iroha Hyuga saw three Shinobi fighting near the thunderclouds, then his squad was ambushed by a woman on a summoned beast and two men.
  • Fugaku suspected the thunderclouds were bait and returned to camp with Gua and the others rather than pursue them.
  • Gua collapsed in his tent, aching and exhausted, while Itachi gave him water and said Kabuto had gone to fetch a medical ninja.
  • Fugaku told Inoichi Yamanaka, Asuma, and Shibi Aburame that the attackers had targeted Gua and the other two.
  • Inoichi Yamanaka suggested sending Gua and the others to the rear, but Fugaku refused and proposed luring the enemy out.

Ch. 202Gua's dream

After Gua collapsed from severe chakra depletion, Fugaku learned that Orochimaru’s Blue Pill might have caused a dangerous drop in Gua’s cellular activity and kept the pills from him. Fugaku assigned Gua, Itachi, and Kabuto a difficult mission once they recovered, while Gua dreamed of Obito and Rin before waking beside Izumi in the Uchiha Clan Compound.

  • Inoichi Yamanaka, Asuma, and Shibi Aburame heard Fugaku’s decision and saw that he was resolved to make the Uchiha bear the burden.
  • A Medical Ninja told Fugaku that Gua had severe chakra depletion, displaced bones, and cellular activity that was rapidly falling.
  • Gua told Fugaku he had taken Orochimaru’s Blue Pill, and Fugaku kept the remaining pills because he feared their side effects.
  • Fugaku told Gua, Itachi, and Kabuto to seek him out after recovering for a very difficult mission.
  • After drinking a medicinal decoction and sleeping, Gua dreamed of Obito, Rin, and falling rocks before waking beside Izumi in the Uchiha Clan Compound.

Ch. 203The sincere Orochimaru

Gua recovered from the Blue Pill’s side effects and learned from Orochimaru’s letter that the pill could cause a period of weakness. After replying to Orochimaru and writing to Izumi, Gua was left at the front while Fugaku arranged to brief him, Itachi, and Kabuto on a mission that night.

  • Gua woke on the battlefield feeling healthy, surprising Itachi and Kabuto, who had gone to fetch him food.
  • A Messenger delivered Orochimaru’s letter, which revealed that the Blue Pill caused weakness after use and that Orochimaru was still improving it.
  • Gua replied to Orochimaru, asking him to finish researching the pill before sending it out, and asked him to reassure Gua’s parents.
  • Gua began writing a letter to Izumi and told Kabuto to stop trying to read it.
  • Kabuto wrote a letter to Anko, while Itachi went to Fugaku to ask about the mission.
  • Fugaku told Itachi to bring Gua and Kabuto to him that night so he could explain the mission.

Ch. 204Gua: You Want Me to Blow Up the Bridge?

Fugaku assigned Gua, Kabuto, and Itachi to destroy Kannabi Bridge, while concealing that the mission was a trap. After they accepted, Fugaku and Asuma prepared to proceed with their gamble, with Fugaku unable to join the battle.

  • Fugaku told Gua, Kabuto, and Itachi to destroy Kannabi Bridge and explained how its loss would disrupt Iwagakure's supply routes.
  • Gua questioned whether destroying the bridge would work and why the dangerous mission had been assigned to them, but ultimately agreed to follow Fugaku's orders.
  • Fugaku briefed the three on Iwagakure's patrols and the guards stationed at Kannabi Bridge, then told them to prepare for an operation within the week.
  • Fugaku met with Asuma, Inoichi Yamanaka, and Shibi Aburame and confirmed that the three young shinobi did not know the operation's real purpose.
  • Asuma agreed to gamble on Fugaku's plan and said the others would protect the three, while Fugaku warned that he could not take the field on battle day.

Ch. 205Leaked intelligence

Ōnoki learned that Konoha’s team, led by Uchiha Gua, planned to destroy Kannabi Bridge and ordered Han to intercept them. Gua, Itachi, and Kabuto infiltrated Iwagakure’s defenses, but Gua’s unease made him wait before attacking the bridge guards.

  • Ōnoki recalled how Team Minato’s destruction of Kannabi Bridge had crippled Iwagakure and ordered Kitsuchi to send Han against the new team.
  • Kitsuchi told Ōnoki that Uchiha Gua, Uchiha Itachi, and Uchiha Kabuto were assigned to destroy the bridge, and Ōnoki chose Han to stop them.
  • Akatsuchi arrived with information about Hiruko as Itachi told Gua and Kabuto that the mission would begin in three days.
  • Gua led Itachi and Kabuto across the border and into Iwagakure’s defenses, where they reached Kannabi Bridge without being detected.
  • Itachi identified the three guards, but Gua told the team to lie low because he suspected an ambush.

Ch. 206Time to act

Gua delayed the team’s attack on the Shinobi guarding Kannabi Bridge, trusting his bad feeling despite Itachi’s objections. After waiting and setting a final deadline, Gua ordered the team to strike when the patrol began again.

  • Gua watched the three Shinobi guarding Kannabi Bridge and refused Itachi’s suggestion to attack while they were separated.
  • Itachi accepted Gua’s decision, and Kabuto silently supported Gua as team captain.
  • As the wait continued, Gua felt the pressure of deciding whether to risk his teammates’ lives.
  • Gua set a ten-minute deadline, then assigned himself the Jonin, Kabuto a nearby Shinobi, and Itachi the patrolling Shinobi.
  • Gua and Kabuto slipped into the bushes while Itachi waited alone for the attack.

Ch. 207Mission completed smoothly?

Itachi and Gua killed the Iwagakure Shinobi guarding Kannabi Bridge while Kabuto planted explosives beneath it. With the mission ready to proceed, Gua wondered whether their escape would be as smooth as the attack.

  • Itachi used Genjutsu to kill the patrolling Shinobi, then went to help Kabuto and Gua.
  • Itachi told Kabuto to plant the explosives while he fought the remaining Shinobi.
  • Itachi killed a Chunin, and Gua shattered a Jonin’s rock-enhanced attack before defeating him.

  • Gua looked toward Iwagakure and wondered whether the mission had gone too smoothly.

Ch. 208The legendary Susanoo!

  • Kabuto recognized Fugaku’s swords as Hizakiri and Higekiri, while Itachi realized his father had hidden his Mangekyo and its power for years.
  • Fugaku’s Susanoo dodged Kokuō’s attacks, seized him by the neck, and prepared to strike with Hizakiri.
  • Roshi transformed into Four-Tails Son Gokū and fired a Tailed Beast Bomb, forcing Fugaku to release Kokuō and catch the attack.
  • The Six Paths of Pain and Hiruko watched from the forest before scattering as Fugaku hurled the Tailed Beast Bomb toward them.
  • Roshi and Han agreed to retreat to the main front, then fired Tailed Beast Bombs simultaneously, which Fugaku’s Susanoo caught in both hands.

  • On the fifth day, Gua left the tent before dawn, and Fugaku watched him go.
  • Hiruko realized Kabuto was not an Uchiha, spared him, and ordered Two to bring One and Three so they could settle the score.

Ch. 213Hiruko challenged the Akatsuki

Kakashi searched the Akatsuki base after hearing that the group might have captured an Uchiha, while Hiruko forced his way inside to confront them over being deceived. Hiruko arrived as the Akatsuki finished sealing two tailed beasts, and he accused Obito of passing off an ordinary person as an Uchiha.

  • Kakashi lingered near the Akatsuki base, hoping to get past Juzo Biwa and investigate whether the Akatsuki had captured an Uchiha.
  • Hiruko arrived carrying the unconscious Kabuto, challenged Juzo Biwa, and ordered One, Two, and Three to hold him off as he entered the base.
  • Pain and the others completed the sealing of two tailed beasts, opening two of the vessel's eyes fully.

  • Sasori sent dozens of puppets after Gua, but Gua destroyed them all and vowed to kill them.

Ch. 218Six Gates

Gua battled Sasori while Kabuto tried to draw Obito away and help him. Gua opened all six Gates, revealing far greater power as Obito watched in alarm.

  • Gua and Sasori clashed, while Obito judged that Gua’s rapid growth would not save him from the Akatsuki.
  • Kabuto, hiding nearby, agonized over his weakness and decided to help Gua by drawing Obito away.
  • Obito repeatedly appeared in front of Kabuto as he ran in different directions, while Hidan cheered them on.
