It sounded a little like comforting herself, but under the circumstances, that was the only way the girl could soothe her restless heart.

The movie ended, and the lights came on. Eiffel and Esnie moved almost in unison, shrinking down slightly in their seats. Only after Jonas and Iris left did they breathe a sigh of relief-and notice what the other had done.

"Aren't you on a mission, Miss Esnie? Why are you hiding?"

Esnie answered with an equally cold smile. Once they realized those remarks achieved nothing except hurting themselves, both gave a cold snort and dropped the subject.

Lines of credits slowly scrolled across the movie screen, listing acknowledgments and the producers' names.

Coming to their senses, the two stopped dwelling on each other and turned their attention back to where Jonas and Iris had been sitting.

They had already left. Realizing this, Esnie froze, then grew frustrated.
