Chapter Summaries

When a wildfire broke out on the Back Mountain, Li Wei and his Pokémon fought to contain it while Ranguo and the injured Zeraora faced the smoke and flames. Ditto learned to transform into Milotic and help with Rain Dance, and Lorelei, Blue, Ash, and Brock arrived with reinforcements as the firefighting effort grew.

• Mayor Oriba called Water-type and Ice-type Trainers to assemble and help put out the wildfire.
• Li Wei ordered Milotic to use Rain Dance and his other Pokémon to clear a firebreak, while Corviknight and Zeraora joined the effort despite his concerns.
• As smoke overwhelmed Ranguo and Teddiursa, Li Wei gave them his wet shirt to cover their mouths and noses.
• Li Wei asked Ditto to transform into Milotic, and Ditto successfully used Rain Dance to help fight the fire.
• More wild Pokémon volunteered to help, and Lorelei and Blue arrived on Articuno with news that Mayor Oriba was gathering Water-type Pokémon.

Li Wei, Lorelei, Ash, and the people of Windswept City coordinated their Pokémon to contain the wildfire on Back Mountain. With the flames under control in some areas, Li Wei and Zeraora pushed farther through the firebreak to confront the spreading blaze.

• Mayor Oriba found Ranguo safe, and Lorelei urged everyone to focus on extinguishing the fire before investigating its cause.
• Lorelei, Blue, Yellow, and other Trainers used Water- and Ice-type Pokémon to attack the flames while Li Wei, Ash, Brock, and their Pokémon cleared paths and guided rescuers.
• Li Wei organized the townspeople into a bucket chain, and Mayor Oriba directed the growing effort as Trainers and Pokémon joined in.
• Pikachu blasted open a firebreak with Thunderbolt, allowing Li Wei, Milotic, Blastoise, and the injured Zeraora to move through the flames.

Li Wei and the people and Pokémon of Windswept City brought the Back Mountain wildfire under control, and Lugia arrived to summon rain and end the blaze. Zeraora and Lugia joined Li Wei’s Legendary Pact, while Lugia promised she looked forward to meeting him again.

• Ranguo reunited with her father Oriba as Li Wei continued directing the firefighting effort.
• Zeraora saved Li Wei from a falling tree, let go of some of its old hatred toward humans, and joined Li Wei’s Legendary Pact.
• Lorelei’s Pokémon and the combined efforts of humans and Pokémon contained the wildfire, and Lugia arrived to bring heavy rain.
• The exhausted Li Wei met Lugia’s gaze, and she spoke to him through telepathy and said she would remember him.
• Lugia flew away after promising to look forward to their next meeting, and she joined Li Wei’s Legendary Pact.

After humans and Pokémon worked together to stop the wildfire in Windswept City, Zeraora saw that people had changed and chosen to protect the forest and its Pokémon. With the poachers arrested and Shaymin exhausted, Li Wei looked toward Zeraora as the citizens withdrew.

• Lugia brought rain to extinguish the wildfire, and Shaymin began restoring the scorched forest while Windswept City's citizens celebrated their survival.
• Mayor Oriba reflected on how humans and Pokémon had worked together this time, unlike during the wildfire fifty years earlier.
• Zeraora watched Li Wei, Ash, Lorelei, Brock, Yellow, Oriba, and the others protect the forest, and began to see humans differently.
• Li Wei explained that the poachers' Houndoom had started the fire and that the poachers had attacked Ranguo; Oriba promised they would be severely punished.

Li Wei asked Zeraora to leave Back Mountain with him, and after others promised to protect the mountain and its Pokémon, Zeraora accepted. Li Wei caught Zeraora in a Luxury Ball and released them again beside him.

• Li Wei offered Zeraora a place with him, but Zeraora hesitated because they were reluctant to leave their longtime home and the Pokémon there.
• Mayor Oriba warned Zeraora that poachers would keep coming and promised Back Mountain would remain protected, while Lorelei pledged to arrange a Pokémon Ranger.
• Yellow translated that Zeraora was worried about the local Pokémon, and Li Wei promised they could return whenever they wished.

• Ash and the others shared news of the wildfire rescue in the Chat Group, and Lorelei arranged for two Rangers to protect Back Mountain.

• Professor Rowan let Dawn search for the runaway Piplup and Chimchar after she volunteered to become their Trainer.
• Dawn found Chimchar and Piplup fighting in the woods, dodged Piplup’s Bubble, and watched them run farther into the forest.

After touring the center, Zeraora was impressed by how humans and Pokémon lived alongside one another and began considering Li Wei’s offer to help manage the Pokémon.

• Li Wei and Dayou brought the Galarian Ponyta to meet the herd after preparing the other Pokémon to recognize their scent.
• Tauros and Rapidash welcomed the first Galarian Ponyta, and the rest joined the herd and began playing with the Ponyta.

Li Wei detected a nearby Shiny Pokémon and found a Shiny Torterra traveling with two others, carrying small Pokémon on their backs. After learning they were seeking clean water, he pointed them toward the Breeding Center and left them food, hoping they would visit.

• Li Wei left his workshop after detecting a nearby Shiny Pokémon and flew to Misty Mountain with several of his Pokémon.
• Li Wei found a Shiny Torterra leading two Torterra, with Budew, Pichu, and Cherubi living in nests on their backs.
• Li Wei checked the Torterra and learned they were migrating in search of clean water.
• Li Wei pointed the Torterra toward the Breeding Center and offered to take them there, but the Shiny Torterra chose to walk on its own.
• Li Wei gave the group Pokéblocks and Poffins and said he would wait for them at home.

Li Wei welcomed a Shiny Torterra and two other Torterra to the Breeding Center, where they would roam freely in the Wild Area. Their arrival drew the curiosity of Li Wei’s family and the others, and the Torterra settled in by sharing food with the Pichu on their backs.

• Li Wei saw the three hungry Torterra approaching the Breeding Center and went to meet them with Shaymin and Lucario.
• The Torterra joined the Breeding Center without resistance, and Li Wei considered placing them near Swan Lake.
