In the end, the decision was made: Naomitsu would return to Kyoto Prefecture to teach. He would take up his post at the beginning of the next year.
"All right!"
Naomitsu agreed. Before leaving, Utahime Iori glared at Satoru Gojo, warning him not to bully Naomitsu during these last few months.
After Utahime Iori left, Naomitsu left as well.
Outside, Ijichi picked Naomitsu up and drove him back to school. Even after returning to his dorm, Naomitsu still hadn't quite processed it.
"What was that old geezer Rakaji thinking? He actually wants a five-year-old like me to teach at Jujutsu High!"
Shaking his head, Naomitsu stopped dwelling on it. He would deal with whatever came his way. Since he had accepted, he could worry about it when the time came.
With tens of thousands of yen tucked into his pocket, Naomitsu realized he hadn't really had a chance to enjoy himself since arriving. Since he would be leaving soon, he might as well go have some fun.
With the money in his pocket, Naomitsu headed straight for the bustling anime shopping district.
Maid cafés, murder mystery game shops, host clubs, and cosplay stores, as well as Senso-ji, Shibuya, and Shinjuku.
After wandering all over the place, he happened to run into the twins, Mimiko and Nanako, again.
Naomitsu felt that the twins were very much like his own two older sisters.
"Oh, it's Naomitsu!"
Naomitsu was one of the few people the twin sisters liked, so this time, they approached him first to say hello.
"Long time no see. Are you two still in Tokyo?"
The sisters nodded. They had been staying in Tokyo with Suguru Geto all this time. Two former best friends had gone ten years without seeing each other, despite living in the same city, all because of an argument.
And when they finally met again, it would be a farewell separated by life and death.
"Nanako, Mimiko, I'll be leaving Tokyo soon. Could you take me to see Mr. Geto one more time?"
Nanako and Mimiko exchanged a glance, then turned away from Naomitsu to discuss it in hushed voices.
A moment later, the two girls nodded at Naomitsu.
"Sure, but we'll choose the place. I'll let you know when it's time. Oh, right, let's exchange contact information."
After getting their number, Naomitsu watched them leave. He was tired after spending the whole day out having fun. He would go back and rest, then meet Suguru Geto another day.
The next day, after waking up naturally, Naomitsu followed the location Nanako had sent to his phone and arrived at a café with a European-style atmosphere.
There was a decorative fountain outside the café, while inside, the staff were female college students working part-time nearby.
The air brimmed with youthful energy.
At the café's counter, several eager gazes kept drifting toward Suguru Geto. The coffee in front of Naomitsu never even came close to running out.
To get closer to Suguru Geto, the girls came over to refill their coffee every few minutes.
"We meet again, Suguru Geto. You're still as popular as ever."
Suguru Geto wore his usual smile, seemingly happy to see Naomitsu again. He slowly savored his coffee, enjoying the midday sunlight.
"I'm not your senior anymore. Tokyo Jujutsu High still has a wanted notice out for me. I'm rather surprised you sought me out again."
"Because this might be the last time we see each other."
"Oh? Why?" Suguru Geto asked in surprise.
Naomitsu explained, "Principal Rakaji wants me to return to Kyoto Jujutsu High and take a teaching position. I have to go at the beginning of next year, so I only have a few months left in Tokyo."
"Huh? A teacher?"
Suguru Geto thought he had misheard, his eyes widening in a rare display of surprise. When he saw Naomitsu wasn't joking, he pressed a hand to his forehead and chuckled.
"Looks like Kyoto Jujutsu High really has no one left. They're even making a little kid a teacher."
Naomitsu shrugged. "You can say that again!"
With the small talk out of the way, Naomitsu's smile faded, and he began discussing the important matter with Suguru Geto.
"About your 'human extinction plan'... are you really going to carry it out?"
At the mention of that plan, Suguru Geto stiffened. A moment later, he put away his smile and nodded solemnly at Naomitsu.
"Yes. I have to. Even if it leads to my death, I'll see it through without hesitation."
Silence. A long silence.
"Mr. Geto, perhaps the next time we meet, we'll be enemies. I have people I want to protect, too."
Suguru Geto nodded, and the two smiled as they drank their coffee, as though their earlier words had been nothing more than idle chatter after a meal.
When they finished their coffee, they parted with smiles.
But inwardly, Naomitsu still couldn't help letting out a disappointed sigh. If Suguru Geto had turned back, the story would have changed completely.
This was Naomitsu's first attempt to change the plot, and it might also be his last.
On his way back, Naomitsu suddenly noticed someone following him.
Naomitsu turned around and saw Satoru Gojo grinning at him. You bastard, you scared me! I thought a cursed spirit was following me.
"Naomitsu, who did you just go to see?"
Danger lurked beneath Satoru Gojo's smile. One careless answer from Naomitsu, and Gojo might kill him on the spot.
"Mr. Gojo, I went to see Suguru Geto," Naomitsu answered honestly.
Satoru Gojo's gaze sharpened, and the smile vanished from his lips. His tone shifted from a question to an interrogation.
"You do know, don't you? Suguru Geto is a special grade curse user wanted by Tokyo Jujutsu High."
Naomitsu nodded. "I know!"
The next second, Satoru Gojo suddenly leaned close to Naomitsu, bringing his Six Eyes almost right up to Naomitsu's eyes.
In an instant, the pressure was overwhelming.
"If you knew, why did you go? Have you betrayed Tokyo Jujutsu High too? Or do you want to slaughter all of humanity as well?"
Clearly, Satoru Gojo was letting his personal feelings get the better of him. He was taking his inability to understand Suguru Geto out on Naomitsu.
"Mr. Gojo, I went to try to persuade him. I think he's a very gentle person. He shouldn't be trapped in a struggle against the whole world."
Satoru Gojo straightened, his gaze wavering. Looking at Naomitsu, he fell into a long silence.
"What did Geto say?"
Naomitsu answered honestly, "Mr. Geto said there was no turning back. The next time we meet, it will be a matter of life and death between us."
For a moment, Satoru Gojo felt as though a stone had been pressed against his chest. But as the strongest man of the modern era, he regained his composure quickly.
"Naomitsu, I'll handle this when I get back. Don't get involved anymore. Just go back to Kyoto Jujutsu High and focus on teaching."
Naomitsu shrugged, effectively agreeing to Satoru Gojo's request. The man was too proud to let anyone interfere in matters between him and Suguru Geto.
His parting with Satoru Gojo also turned out to be their last meeting.
For the remaining few months, Naomitsu stopped running around. He stayed quietly in his dorm, training his cursed energy diligently every day.
This was his only advantage. As long as it kept multiplying, one day he would be able to overwhelm every technique through sheer power.
When that day came, simply releasing his cursed energy would be enough to blast Mahoraga to pieces.
