His fascination does not immediately make him benevolent: he later imagines gouging out Yuji’s heart in front of Haruka to intensify the younger brother’s hatred 2 3 8.

His treatment of Haruka develops into selective, increasingly personal care. He comforts him after Gojo erases his memories, promises to favor him despite his self-hatred, and argues that protecting him must not mean denying his humanity or ability to confront loss 5 6 8.
