Geography and Leylines
Britannia was a heavily forested landmass surrounded by numerous islands. Before its ascension, its dense vegetation, towering trees, giant wildlife, and exceptionally concentrated leyline energy made it unlike most regions of the New World. 320 328
- Leyline energy appears as pale-blue radiance flowing through canyons and fissures. 328
- Its leyline reserves are among the greatest in the world and allow the Red Dragon Fruit to operate at greatly increased capacity. 290 318 328
- Gawain considers Britannia his “home ground,” as its energy can sustain his power far longer than locations such as Drum Kingdom, Alabasta, or Water 7. 328
- Excessive extraction of leyline energy can leave land barren; Alabasta is cited as an example of this consequence. 393
- A World Government Ancient Weapon strike erased nearly half of Britannia's land and created an enormous inland sea later named Avalon Lake. 393 452 356
History
Royal Family and Church Rule
Britannia was formerly ruled by a royal family, but successive monarchs were reduced to puppets of the Heavenly Awakening Divine Church. Arthur, Morgan's younger brother and the prior holder of the Red Dragon Fruit, attempted a revolution to restore royal authority. His subordinates betrayed him, the revolution failed, and the royal family was purged; Morgan was the only known survivor. 319 321
The Church converted the former royal palace city of Avalon into its holy city. Under Pope Wales, civilians were subjected to mind control and driven into brutal acts of religious devotion, including sacrificing their own children. 327 328
Liberation and Rebuilding
Gawain chose Britannia as the future headquarters of his growing force because it could provide stable territory and maximize the Red Dragon Fruit's leyline-based abilities. 290 319
After arriving, Gawain's group confronted Wales and the Heavenly Awakening Church. Wales was killed after Gawain threw him into the sea, nullifying his Devil Fruit-based Immortal Body. Angel statues across Britannia shattered upon his death, ending the Church's control over the population. 343
Morgan accepted the role of nominal queen while placing the country under Gawain's rule. Avalon was rebuilt and renamed Camelot, with Morgan choosing the name and helping direct reconstruction. 353

Avalon
Avalon is Britannia's Ancient Weapon, a colossal warship modeled after Pluton. It was constructed by the Technology Development Bureau under Vegapunk and Franky, using leyline energy from Britannia and the surrounding seabed instead of the World Government's Mother Flame. 459 465
- Its energy conduits store enormous quantities of liquefied leyline energy. 459 465
- Its first firing released a beam that divided into countless Rays, annihilating Navy and pirate fleets over a vast area. 465
- Gawain describes it as Britannia's “ultimate weapon” and a deterrent against foreign enemies. 459
Technology Development Bureau
The Technology Development Bureau was established in a converted shipyard near Camelot after Vegapunk joined Britannia. 416
- Vegapunk — Director. 416
- Franky — Deputy Director. 416
